From The Minister—KHCC Fundraiser: “For A Great Sounding Future”
Volume XXXVII Number 18
Kings Highway Christian
GREAT SOUNDING FUTURE
This last Sunday we kicked-off our campaign to raise $45,000 to fund extensive upgrades to the sounds system in our sanctuary. These upgrades and the im-proved sound quality that results will benefit us every time we gather for our 9:15 worship on Sunday morn-ings, every time we conduct a funeral or celebrate a wedding, and every time members and friends of KHCC come together for our special evening worship services on Christmas Eve and during the Holy Week. These upgrades will also make it possible for us to conduct our 11:11 worship service in the sanctuary each week. All those who attend our English-speaking worship services will be able to worship in the same sacred space where they are baptized, married and where the funerals of their loved ones are held. It will give all our members a greater chance to feel a growing affection for our sanctuary, and a desire to cherish it as the years pass. I believe it is vitally important to the future of our church to do whatever is needed to give our contemporary worship service the opportunity to worship in this sanctuary not just three times a year but every Sunday.
To worship in a place that was designed and built for worship, a place that reminds us who we are and where we came from, a place that links us to our past but also keeps us looking to the future. Looking to the future is a part of who we are, and that’s something our sanctuary tells us. For our sanctuary wasn’t built by those good folk 91 years ago to serve their generation alone (if it was it could have been made of wood and tin). It was made of brick and mortar because those folks back in 1923 were thinking of us today. Lets be sure that as we make decisions today we are giving future generations the same thought that those folks 91 years ago gave for us. In the days to come many of you who support KHCC financially will be receiving a letter with more informa-tion on how to make a contribution to this special campaign. I pray that you give this effort your support. Sincerely, David

Choosing how to use time is not always easy, because there are so many things staring us in our faces. There are so many options and so many possibilities. A certain amount of that goes toward taking care or things and activities. A percentage of that goes toward taking care of people and relationships. We must also always remember to keep relationships first above things and activities. It is so easy in this materialistic age in which we live to spend all of our time on things and activities rather than on people. God gives us the freedom to choose how we spend our time. We can waste it, we can misuse it, we can abuse it, or we can use it to accomplish God’s purpose in our lives.
Makes you think about how you spend your time! It has been a few years since I read the Bible, so I decided it was time to re-acquaint myself by reading The Holy Bible, “New Living Translation”. It is very enjoyable reading and highly enlightening.
God Bless,

Dear Church Family, The fundraiser we have just begun will make it possible for us to replace the outdated sound system in the sanctuary. Many church members have commented on how poorly the sound has been in the sanctuary, especially when we have a combined service. A sound system upgrade will result in a richer more balanced sound during the traditional, contemporary services, weddings, and funeral services. This new sound system will also require minimal set up time to accommodate dif-ferent sound needs by the different services and activities in the sanctuary. The cost of replacing existing equipment, the purchase of an expanded sound board, electrical work, and other sound related modifications, is approximately $45,000. The fundraising program has kicked off this past Sunday to assist with rais-ing these funds. Our beautiful sanctuary was designed and built as a place of worship where our members and guests have gathered every Sunday for the past ninety-one years. These improvements will ensure that our sanctuary remains a place of worship for the next ninety-one years. Proposed
improvements will give our members and guests a safe and sound place to worship. Our priority is to maintain the sacred integrity of the sanctuary. The new sound system will be unseen other than the speakers, which for acous-tics, will be moved several feet closer to the pews in order to improve sound. By making these changes today, we follow in the footsteps of those in the past who worked to keep our sanctuary relevant by making carefully thought-out improvements. They did this when the first air conditioner system was installed, when the new pipe organ was installed and relocating the choir loft. These were not simple changes but they were for the benefit of the church and its ministries. Over the years, we have been blessed with a congregation willing to move forward with change, when needed. Your support is vital to the success of this campaign and these improvements, and it is greatly appre-ciated. Dennis Wissing Chairman of the Official Board
