TATU LAUDS GOVERNMENT’S INCENTIVES TO INDUSTRIES IN SPECIAL ECONOMIC ZONES

to industries operating in Special Economic Zones (SEZ), saying that the initiative will help to spur growth and drive Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Kenya’s built infrastructure.

Speaking on the sidelines of the East Africa Property Investment Summit in Nairobi, Nick Langford, Kenya Country Head at Rendeavour, the majority owner and developer of Tatu City, said the decision will encourage more firms to set up in Kenya, as well as help in the successful operation of industrial parks that have been established in mixed-use development projects such as Tatu City.

“With SEZ status, there are massive tax advantages for setting up businesses in Kenya, making it possible for firms that had previously not considered the country as a business destination to do so,” he said.

Tatu City also singled out increased investment in infrastructure

doing business in the country, in order to increase FDI. As part of its master plan, Tatu City is setting up an industrial park on 457 acres, which is home to companies like Unilever, Chandaria Industries, Dormans and Kim Fay, amongst others.

TATU CITY SUPPORTS KENYA RED CROSS DROUGHT MITIGATION INITIATIVE

the current drought crisis in Kenya. The donation was made at a fundraising event hosted by the First Lady of Kenya, Margaret Kenyatta,

Tatu City will work with the Kenya Red Cross and other stakeholders to address the need for a clean and fresh water supply

drought.

Kenya Red Cross Secretary General Abbas Gullet commended Tatu City for its donation. “Sustainable donations such as the one made by Tatu City are vital if we are to enable our communities for not just today, but the also the future.”

The continuous supply of water provided by a borehole will enable the selected community to deal with the immediate requirements of day to day living, farming and maintenance of livestock.

water storage facilities. Various initiatives have been undertaken to combat this adversity, with Red Cross being at the forefront.

The overwhelming realisation was that there is a lot of work that needs to be done to provide a holistic lifestyle for Kenyans. Kenya is one of the fastest-growing economies in the world and by 2025, it will have grown to around 55 million people from the present figure of 48 million. Built and social infrastructure are straining under the burden of growth.

Tatu City will be part of the solution by creating a mixed-use, mixed-income development for all Kenyans. The city will be home to 150,000 people, with the promise to provide access to quality healthcare, education and recreational facilities. It is a planned and controlled city with measures in place to ensure its residents enjoy a good quality of life with all the necessary amenities within walking distance.

#MJIWETUWhat is your idea of an ideal city? Can you walk your children to

congestion? What security measures do you have in place for peace of mind? Do you enjoy uninterrupted water and power supply? To address these and many other questions around the lifestyle of people living in Kenya, Tatu City initiated “#MjiWetu”, a campaign that means My City. The campaign ran for five weeks during which over 3,000 individuals voiced their opinions and concerns over topics like infrastructure, security, lifestyle, urbanisation and congestion. #MjiWetu touched the lives of 18 million people who on a daily basis seek for betterment of their lives and a more hopeful future for their children.
