That's the question member Elsie of Massachusetts asks. Elsie tells us there are many reasons why we should spread the word about the Amur leopard. "Most people don’t even know about them! They are really endangered and there are about 30 through 35 in the wild. They eat roe deer, red deer, sika deer, musk deer, wild boar, and more!

My Dog, My Hero!By Kacy

When we set out to adopt our black lab Cory, we were looking for a faithful friend. Little did we know the hero that lied with in. It was on that stormy day that her true character would be revealed. Cory never did like driving in the car and would often whimper a tiny cry the entire way but this day would be different. As we drove along on our 2 hour ride from Maine to New Hampshire it began to rain. As the rains pick up in intensity, so too, did her cries. Soon Cory cried so loud and was so unsettled we pulled the car over to the side of the road. We tried to assure her everything was okay—but it wasnʼt. As Cory finally settled down and we began yet again our journey, not minutes up the road we saw the destruction. A tornado had tornthrough the town just moments ahead of us. Had Cory not stopped us, we would have been right in its fury. Eleven people had died that day; we were lucky ones, lucky for finding our faithful friend.

The Canadian Seal Hunt

" March marks the beginning of the Canadian Seal Hunt. Global warming is having a huge impact on the polar climate. The melting ice is dramatically effecting the seal population, yet the Canadian commercial seal slaughter is still going on. Hundreds of baby seals are being clubbed for fur, some even being skinned alive." There have been a few major victories for the seals including the European ban on seal pelts."For more information visit http://www.humanesociety.org/issues/seal_hunt/
