The Open Air Theatre has been saved, as this summer, 5 acts will be performing on the stage

The theatre was re-opened by theQueen in 2010 and since then has notseen much on its stage and thisSummer season was looking like itwould be as bad as the last. But OllyMurs, JLS, Russell Watson,Dionne Warwick and John Barrowmanwill be coming to the stage in the

Summer months, kicking off with

Dionne on Wednesday 6th June andending with JLS and Alexandra Burke

on Saturday 18th August. Olly Murshas sold out his date but tickets for

the rest are still available. Tickets costbetween £30 and £40 depending on

the show you would want to see.

CALLING ALL THRILL SEEKERSThe local area has a lot of activities to offer forbored holiday makers seeking thrills not foundin normal family life. One place that is a mustgo is Flamingo Land, a theme park situated inMalton, just 17 miles from Scarborough towncentre.Flamingo Land is a great place for people of allages. From the big rollercoasters to the zoo,you can never have too much choice of thingsto do!If you are a thrill seeker Mumbo Jumbo, Kumaliand Velocity are the rides for you. MumboJumbo is currently the ride with the secondsteepest drop in Europe, and the fourth steep-est drop in the world. It broke the record in2009 and was the steepest coaster in theworld for 12 days. Velocity is a high speedcoaster that was installed in 2005 and is theUK's only motorbike launch coaster and is thetallest and fastest of its kind in the world.

Kumali is a 117 ft tall coaster that has a 111ft drop and can reach speeds of 55 mph.

With other kids rides available and many areaslike the little monsters land and muddy duck

farm, children are catered for. The zoo is oneof the main attractions at the park; with cablecars and monorail to take you around the zooto witness the animals from all angles. Animals

from Lions to Monkeys, Camels to Kangaroo,Lizards to Tapir reside in the resort, education

centres and bird shows are open for publicviewing all through the summer months.

Children under 3 are granted free addition tothe park, tickets for four year olds and overcost £28.50 per person , senior citizens are

£19 per person, season tickets are £100 andgroups cost around £20 depending on the size

Peasholm Park is a large expanse of green in thecentre of a bustling town; is a large lake for boatingand listening to the music from the pagoda island; isa beauty whatever the weather. The park holdsevents all year round, the tenors in the park, listeningto local bands on the Pagoda Island, or acousticgathering, the atmosphere is always tranquil andrelaxing. Peasholm offers boat rides all through thesummer, pedal boat dragons and swans, rowingboats or if you’re feeling lazy, a motorboat swan ridewhere you can just kick back, relax and take in thesheer beauty of nature.

If you are feeling adventurous then take a hike to thetop of the island, in the middle of the lake, and take a

look at the Japanese gardens at the top.With amazing views and beautiful surroundings, what

more could you want? An ice cream perhaps, wellthe kiosk and cafe at the base of the island are a

great place to pick up refreshments.So if you have a spare hour to fill, head to Peasholm

The otters areadorable and the seals are alwaysin a playful mood, with seal showsin the summer. Go to theinteractive rock pool where youcan see the animals close up, hold

crabs, feel starfish and even getyour hand cleaned by a cleanershrimp.
