Exchange of intercultural skills for social inclusion The Avik Project is co-funded by the ERASMUS+ Programme of the European Union. Avik aims at the exchange of intercultural skills for social inclusion. The objective of this project is to transfer, adapt regionally and evaluate 3 good practice models from 3 European project partners, for all European partners and other institutions. AVIK IS ABOUT During the kick-off meeting of the project, innovative ways and other practices that could lead to social inclusion were discussed. Different forms of receiving people in situations of social exclusion in different countries were shown, as well as cultural differences through board games, guides for new citizens, sharing of meals between different cultures, are some of the objectives of the project that will empower the target public of the project so that they can integrate into society. KICK-OFF MEETING IN DUSSELDORF In the second meeting of this project of exchange of intercultural competences and good practices for social inclusion, the partners had the opportunity to see put into practice for the first time the game RefuGame. This was an incentive to intercultural communication and mutual understanding between the native and non-native population and is used successfully as educational material in intercultural groups. Later this practice will be transferred, adapted and evaluated in each country. In this meeting it was possible to understand how to best implement this intercultural game in each country and what different questions to promote in the community. The 3rd meeting’s agenda, of the Avik project, focused on the presentation of the project’s website and Facebook page, as well as the exchange of information on the implementation of each parter’s future tasks. The playing cards (translated into each project partner’s native languages) were presented for the new version of Diversonopoly. This board game aims to encourage intercultural communication and mutual understanding between the native and non-native population, giving the opportunity to gain essential information on classical behavioral rules, communication, education and work, daily life, free time activities and traditions and costums. The Dinner Club is an example of this practice in which refugees, migrants or socially excluded people use a social restaurant to cook delicacies from their countries that then serve the public and whose value paid for meals reverts to a social response. 2ND MEETING OF THE AVIK PROJECT IN GREECE 3ND MEETING OF THE AVIK PROJECT IN VALENCIA The Westdeutscher Handwerkskammertag (WHKT – West German Chambers of Crafts and Skilled Trades’ Council) with registered offices in Düsseldorf is the regional council representing and joining together the seven Chambers of Crafts and Skilled Trades in NorthRhine Westphalia.
