What is DECA?
• An Association of Marketing Students• For students interested in business,
marketing, entrepreneurship, or management.
• Any student can join.• A fun club for students that want to get
involved!!
Who’s in DECA?
• DECA is now an international co-curricular club located in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, District of Columbia, Canada, China, Germany, Guam, Hong Kong, Korea, and Mexico.
Mission Statement
• DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.

DECA Points• You can earn points – called DECA Points for
attending all our activities.
• These DECA Points are a way of earning end of the year honors.
• Point values per event:
– 3 points for Meetings; 3 points – socials; 5 points – fundraisers; 10 points – competition; 10 points – state competition; 1 point for wearing your T-shirt every Wednesday; ½ point for every hour worked in the store
• Gold, Silver, & Bronze – earn these for end of the year awards.
• Gold & Silver – earn a Six Flags field trip at the end of the year

Other Ways to Earn Points
• Our goal is to have active DECA members.• Recruit students to join and earn 5 DECA
points when they become a paid member.• Wear your T-shirt every Wednesday for 1
DECA point.• Sign up to work in the school store (right
now only sign up to work once a week).
This pays for t-shirt, state and national dues, and FOOD at all meetings, and other prizes, etc.
Membership DUES are $20
How much does it cost to join?

Upcoming Social
• DECA Day at Falcons• Falcons vs. Panthers• Sunday, September 30 – 1pm• $40• Invite your family, friends, etc.• This is not a school sponsored field trip, so
you must meet at the GA Dome.• All orders and money due = August 24.
Upcoming Community Service
• 9/11 Remembrance Project– We will bake cookies and other treats for local
fire and police departments.– We will spend Monday -9/10 putting baskets
together.– Monday, 9/10 3:30-5:00 p.m.– we will deliver to
Trickum Rd. and other Stations.• Sign up to participate.
Upcoming Fundraiser
• Yankee Candles Fundraiser• We will begin our sales in September and
sales will run through the Sept. break.• All orders and money will be due Monday,
September 24th after the break.• This will help to pay for future DECA events.• Information will be given in class and packets
given to non-class members at the next DECA meeting.
Next Meeting
• Tuesday, September 11th
• After school - 3:45 – 4:30 p.m.• Food and snacks provided
• Bring any interested friends.
• We will be signing up for the Fall Leadership Trip! Only the first 15 that sign up can go!!!

• Help us come up with our new DECA T-shirt design for this year.
• Requirements: – Must have River Ridge DECA– Must have year– Must have “Thrive” theme
DECA FALL RALLY
• Friday, October 12• $40 for students who don’t wish to ride
unlimited rides; $45 for students riding unlimited rides. Price includes charter bus, registration, admission, and rides. You will need to bring money for food.
• Sign up if you plan to attend. Money due at next DECA meeting!
