BackgroundThe IAHR Groundwater Committee during its 2010meeting held in Valencia (Spain), accepted a proposal forthe Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) toorganize the 5th International Groundwater Symposium inKuwait. The Fifth International Groundwater Symposiumwill be organized jointly by IAHR and KISR and will be heldin Kuwait between 19 and 21 of November, 2012.

Symposium ObjectivesThe purpose of the Symposium is to bring togetherresearchers, scientists, engineers and managers to raiseawareness about current challenges and opportunities forthe exploration and sustainable development ofgroundwater resources using cutting-edge technology. The Symposium will provide a forum for the exchange ofideas and expertise among the various research andapplied groups, for better understanding of the complexprocesses that lead to best practices in groundwaterutilization and management. The interactions among themulti-disciplinary participants of the Symposium will alsoserve to recognize the limitations of existing approachesand help identify future research avenues.

About KuwaitWith a history of around 400 years and a rapid pace ofdevelopment, which never lost sight of its heritage, Kuwaithas many historical, modern, beautiful and significanttourist spots. It is the eleventh richest country in the worldper capita.
