The department has had a restructure and Mr Mark Barraket is our new School Director, Public Schools. Mr Barraket visited the school today and met with children, staff and did a school tour. We also met with Mrs Sue Shelley to thank her for all her support over the years. Mr Barraket has been invited to various school functions over the next few terms and I am sure he looks forward to meeting many of you during the year. This term will see the children participating in NAPLAN, Chess Competitions, Spelling Bees, Public Speaking opportunities, Athletics Carnivals, Zone Carnivals, Multicultural Day, Soirees and Film Making. Various excursions are planned and rehearsals are underway for our Primary Musical in August. It is wonderful visiting classrooms seeing engaged and challenged children hard at work. Please remember if you want to meet with your child's teacher at any time during the year please contact the school office and they will organise a meeting for you. ANZAC Day- Kensington RSL Sub Branch invited our school leaders to represent the school community at their recent ANZAC Day Service. Well done leaders for representing our school so well at both the school and RSL Service. Children and mobile phones- Please remember that if children bring mobile phones to school they should be placed at the school office before 9am and picked up at 3pm. This ensures that the phones are kept secure during the day. Can I also take this opportunity to ask those families of children that have phones to discuss appropriate use to and from school? The taking of photos of other students is not appropriate. Phones are for security during travel and not to be played with while children focus on getting home safely. P & C Umbrellas As discussed at the end of last year the P&C will be selling adult KPS Umbrellas for purchase. Please place your order at the school banking table on a Tuesday morning or through the Uniform Shop. Mother’s Day Activities I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Mother’s Day organising committee for all their hard work tomorrow. Mums and special friends: please enjoy your day off from making lunches tomorrow and have a very special day on Sunday. Another big thank you to all those businesses that donated food and /or labour to make the day extra special. Please support those businesses and say thank you when you visit.
