    Let Your Sprits Free

There is a bit of insanity in dancing that does everybody a great deal of

    good. ~Edwin Denby

Last Saturday, my block mates and I went to Ninoy Aquino Stadium

to watch a dance competition. The contestants are all over the Philippines

like Luzon, Visayas, Cebu, Metro Manila and more. In addition, I feel that it

is a prestigious competition for dancers as I saw foreigners joining and

judging. Some of the contestants were varying in age and I saw them

practice because I came early as an assistant class representative. When I

went there, I first noticed there extravagant costumes, it is really a nice

    scene to look out. I could not feel their burden in dancing in those clothes;

the women wear high heels and I know that it is hard to dance with that.

The legs would be totally stiff and their moves will just make the pain

harder but I really admired their energy. You can feel that they are trying

their best. Their attitude in dancing is truly fantastic, they have passion for

the things that they love and made me think of how I am as a person. I

want to pursue a different career but I always lack the motivation. After

seeing them, I wondered how much they have practiced just to

demonstrate their movements to the multinational judges.

I even saw one of the dancers slipped but she eventually stood up

and came back to her position even though it was embarrassing but she

did it with confidence. It seems that if you did things with trust in one, you

would be able to prove that mistakes of the past can be conquered by just

having the proper mindset. There was another incident that both dancers

almost hit but they have good instincts and they were able to improvise acounter movement to avoid hitting each other. I was truly astonished how

strong their senses are because they showed how much they have

practiced and worked hard for this competition. They even showcased

different types of dances like samba, waltz, cha cha, pasa doble and more.

The only thing that I did not like was that the dance was cut short every

time and it is sad that there is not much audience to watch them perform. It

seems that dancing should be given more importance and the

misconceptions about dancing should be broken. It is a very good hobby

that exercises the whole body and it is also a great type of art. As I

remember, I usually think that dancing was very lame and nobody should

be interested about it but to my shock, I like dancing. Yes, I even teach my

parents how to dance even if I am not that good also. Even if I am taking a

bath, I sometimes, make the movements that Mr. Bacani teaches us.

I even want to see some of the performers to come into our class and

demonstrate their moves. Their attitude and choreography was

synchronized but I wonder how the judges will be able to judge if they did it

properly. All of them were winners for me. They have exerted tremendous

effort and come from different places just to be declared as a champion. I

wish for their passion because I think that it makes the impossible possible.

As said by Edwin Denby, they are people with mission and perseverance

that will make them hard as people. I now admire dancers because it may

not be very profitable but their heart thirst for it. One day, hopefully, I would

have enough courage to dance well and be able to participate to an activitysimilar to that.

    Beat of Destiny

Today, we learned about Samba. It has simple movements but it is

amazing that out of all the sections that Mr. Bacani, we were chosen to

dance this. It is wonderful that from simple line dance to as something

complex as Samba, we were able to accomplish all. The dances I just saw

on television are now done by yours truly. I am very thankful that even if I

didnt get 4 as a grade in almost any practical test, I managed to mastersome of the dances. I persevered and that is more important than a 4.0

    grade in the card.

To be frank, this is only the subject that I look forward to come

because it is the only time I could release the stress that I feel in school.

Every week seems to be so busy but after having a time of dancing. It is

like my therapy from an arduous world.

Our teacher told us about dancing is not just all about simple

movements. It is about controlling the muscles, having self-discipline, and

moving with the rhythm. I also believe in that because after practicing

dancing for almost 3 months. I noticed that it is not very tiring because all

we just need to do is practice what we do every day. It is very similar to that

we need to find an interpretation for us to effectively show what we have

worked hard for. As I said before, it was a really fun experience and I cant

believe that this will be one of my last journals. I am considering dancing as

a hobby. When I was young, my parents used to tell me about how I am

very weak at physical operations like basketball, tennis and more. I was

only good at intellectual things and I started to pursue it and disregard one

aspect of development. Through dancing, I had a deep insight of what isdancing really all about. I could not believe that I once considered this

subject as a no brainer and just a past time. Now, I see the importance of it

in my life. Like dancing, we sway our lives to the beat of destiny. We should

know when to dance our cha cha, samba or any other type of dance with

    the music.
