FATIH FORMATION

The Gift of Being GrandOur next Grandparent Ministry will meet at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 25th in Johnson Hall. We are very encouraged by the testimonies of young people and the telling of the role their grandparents played in their faith walk. Our own sharing reveals so many wonderful ways to lead

our families in faith. If you haven’t been yet, please know you are invited and always welcome to join us whether you ARE a grandparent, HOPE to be a grandparent, are a spiritual grandparent or HAVE a grandparent.

Divine Mercy Sunday, April 28: The message and devotion to Jesus as The Divine Mercy is based on the writings of Saint Faustina Kowalska, who wrote a diary of about 600 pages recording the revelations she received about God’s mercy. Even before her death in 1938, the devotion to The Divine Mercy had begun to spread.

Join us at 1:00 p.m. on April 28th for a Holy Hour of Adoration, Chanting and Praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet. A Plenary Indulgence may be gained by the faithful in connection with the celebration of Divine Mercy Sunday. This indulgence applies to

those faithful who accomplish the following criteria:• Be in a State of Grace (detachment from sin)• Have sacramentally confessed your sins within a month (before or after)• Receive Eucharist • Pray for Pope’s intentions (in the bulletin 1st and last Sunday each month)

Most of us have been doing this all through Lent, so come and receive this indulgence as we revere the Blessed Sacrament and pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet!

Signposts, our men’s Scripture Study meets Saturdays at 8:00 a.m. in the lower level Multipurpose Room and Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. in Conference Room B. Please join us for this exploration of faith through scripture.

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT – Meet Matt Stone! Anyone who has ever seen Matt knows he’s committed to his work here! In fact, he’s so dedicated he rides his bike to volunteer at the parish nearly every day! You’ll usually find Matt in Johnson Hall assisting the funeral teams with set up, serving and

clean up. He helps with Alpha Hospitality, and the Socials in our Holy Grounds Cafe. Quite frankly, Matt helps us keep the parish looking great in general by cleaning and straightening up all around our campus, even down the church pews (plus he takes the recycling to the local recycling bins). Matt is definitely an unsung hero around here – be sure to say hi and let him know his gift of time and talent is forever appreciated.A special Thank You to all who provide food for funeral lunches! We wish you could be present at the meals and witness how grateful the families are for the opportunity to sit and share a meal and memories of loved ones with family and friends. Always remember we couldn’t give the families this gift without all of you! God Bless our Volunteers!

How is the Holy Spirit inspiring you to serve others through your parish?

Scholarship Information: Application packages for the Gretchen O’Neill Scholarship are now available to current seventh graders at Blessed Sacrament School or St. Francis de Sales School. A full tuition scholarship will be awarded annually to a rising eighth grader (who is currently in the seventh grade) at Blessed Sacrament School and St. Francis de Sales School who best exemplifies Gretchen O’Neill’s extraordinary work ethic and her motto, “Be kind.” Family income and GPA will not be considered in evaluating students for the scholarships. Rather, students must be working to their maximum abilities and exemplify kindness and an extraordinary work ethic. This criteria places the scholarship within reach of every student. Application packages are due on or before May 1, 2019 and may be obtained from the school offices or by contacting Karen O’Neill Slavik at [email protected]. Questions may be directed to Karen O’Neill Slavik at 614-203-3773 or via email.
