Tutorial‘KEEP CALM’ and ‘DON’T PANIC’ Pop up card kits with badges

This is the tutorial for my range of humorous pop up birthday cards. All the kits have two alternative fronts based on the popular ‘KEEP CALM’ and ‘DON’T PANIC’ theme, some of them have an extra front based on the style of the inside panels and lettering. They all open up to a colourful pop up with humorous comments, each kit Includes two badges, one of which can be personalised with the age.A selection of sentiment panels to stick to the inside of the card are also included.

You’ll need to print one front, one inside and one ‘Words’ sheet for each card.

Select the sheets you want to use and print onto paper of approximately 170gsm.

The paper needs to be thick enough to support the pop up section, but not so thick as to cause a problem folding the card when the front and inside sheets are stuck together.

Fold the inside sheet where shown and stick to the front, making sure the folds align in the centre and the trims align on the outside. (A)Fold in half and then trim the outside of the card to neaten the edges.

Cut out the supports and the lettering panels.

Glue the support tabs to the inside where indicated. (B)

Glue the lettering panels to the supports, taking care to align along the left fold of the support. (C)Make up the badges by glueing them to card and cutting them out, personalise the age badge with the numbers supplied and fix badge pins to the back.

Fix the badge inside the card with a foam pad, or similar.

* These cards are aimed at adults, if the badge is for a child pins may not be suitable.

There are currently six cards in the range, but I’m aiming to have some more soon.
