Mahalo Marimed Foundation!Pau hana mixer offers KBG members chance to share

On Monday, Oct. 4., Marimed Foundation sponsored the second annual KBG Pau Hana Mixer on the Makani Olu. We sailed around Coconut Island and Kaneohe Bay, working the sails and enjoying the warm breezes and island view. Thank you to Matt Claybaugh and Steve Keller, and the Marimed crew for a great time, and to Jo Brooks for sponsoring our after-sail gathering at the Kaneohe Yacht Club and to Ned Busch and Jahn-Peter Preis for organizing the event.

Merchants Launch Bag Promo

By Chris Fleck

Reprinted from Midweek Windward Islander, Oct. 6, 2010

Soon shoppers will be able to tote around their support for Windward businesses everywhere they go.

Created by Kailua Chamber of Commerce and the Kaneohe Business Group, the “I LOVE WINDWARD -Shop Where You Love” campaign could generate thousands of dollars for both merchants and shoppers while raising awareness about local stores, supporters said.

Participating stores will sell the sturdy, reusable, 100 percent cotton bags with an “I Love Windward.com” design on the outside and cards with promotional offers on the inside for a retail price of $9.99.

KCOC and KBG member Laurie Rodriguez said the plan has been in the works for a year, prompted by the question from both groups: “What are we really doing to help our small businesses?” This inaugural partnership is “an overall benefit of our entire Windward business community,” she noted.

The first 2,000 bags will go on sale November 1. Business participation is free; the only requirement is to provide promotional offers for shoppers.Interested businesses and shoppers may sign up or order bags online at iLoveWindward.com.

So how does “I LOVE WINDWARD.com - Shop Where You Love” work?1. Purchase a sturdy, reusable, 100% cotton canvas bag with an “I Love

Windward.com” design on the outside and membership card for just $9.99 at participating merchants and various non-profit fund raisers.

2. Look for the great promotional offers at www.ILoveWindward.com. (as we grow - so will these offers!)

3. Go Shopping and SAVE!
