SkoolBag app This is an important reminder that KPS uses the SkoolBag app to communicate with our community.

Not only do you receive information and reminders about school events such as excursions and mufti days, but we use the app to communicate important information such as changes caused by snow or fire, etc. You can turn notifications on in the app. If you haven’t downloaded the app yet, here’s how. Community Liaison News

If you have a child in Year 6 then come along and share a cup of tea and meet your child’s high school Year Advisor, Ms Janelle Van Capelle and Katoomba High School’s Community Liaison Officer, Ms Imelda Eames. They will be able to answer any questions you have about high school.

(18 weeks to go!)

The P&C’s Blue Mountains Music Festival organising committee met last week to start preparing for the 25th Anniversary of the Festival on 13, 14 and 15 March 2020. The Festival is already boasting some big name acts, such as Kasey Chambers and John Butler over eight stages.

Go to https://www.bmff.org.au/ to see a full line up — it’s going to be a great one! The Committee is made-up of volunteer Mums, Dads, carers, aunts, uncles, etc, from Katoomba Public School, Katoomba North Public and Katoomba High School. We look after all the volunteers, four bars, merchandise tent and clean-up crew. The money raised for KPS, through the Music Festival pays for excursion and camp buses, helping all children to afford to go, covers the cost of maths support programs and lots of other things to support our school. In my humble position as PR (parent relations) person, I’ll be contributing to the school newsletter and keeping you up to date with all that is planned for this exciting event. We are looking for a few more parents to join the Committee, so if you love music, love our town and want to help out, let me know. We’re looking for two Bar Managers to run one of the bars and also looking for someone to run kids activities during the weekend. Applications to volunteer over the festival weekend will open early January 2020 via the Festival website. Volunteers who do three, 3 hour shifts receive a weekend pass to the Festival. Remember to ‘Like’ the festival Facebook page to keep up to date when new performers are announced. Contact Matt on [email protected] to find out more or ask any questions. See you at pick up,

Matt Leach (Edie & Frankie’s Dad)

Drama Performances Katoomba Public School was treated to a Dr Seuss Spectacular for the 2019 Drama Performances. We enjoyed

watching eight Dr Seuss plays performed by 60 very talented students.

The students did their own stage direction, created their own props, did the casting and costuming, and learnt

some very difficult scripts. Thank you to a very talented bunch of young actors for a fabulous performance, and

to Ms Abbey and Ms King for their guidance and support of the Drama Club this year.

“Backflips Against Bullying” Last week we had 3 men come to our school and teach us about bullying while doing backflips! The group was called “Backflips Against Bullying”. It was a great time and everyone had a good laugh!

So remember “Bullying doesn’t make

you tough!”

This term 3/4T are looking at the life cycle of plants. They enjoyed dissecting flowers to have a closer look at the smaller parts. They can name parts of the flowers such as the stigma, piston, filament and anther.
