In 2006-07 we served (data includes all programs in Kansas using the PAT Curriculum):

Spanish as their primary language; these families totaled 1,325 or 9% of all families

Kansas Parents As Teachers – Personal Visits
In 2006-07 (includes all programs using the PAT curriculum):
5,851 (41%) families received 1 to 5 visits;5,324 (37%) families received 6 to 9 visits;1,646 (11%) families received 10 to 12 visits;612 (4%) families received 13 to 19 visits;882 (6%) families received 20 or more visits.
Programs most commonly offered monthly visits to typical families and more often to families with greater needs.

Kansas Parents As Teachers – Screenings
In 2006-07 (includes all programs using the PAT curriculum):
13,617 children received health and developmental screenings
2,419 children, or 18% of those screened, were identified with possible health/developmental
problems and were referred for follow up services.
64% of those referred received follow up services.
On average, programs report 91% of two-year-olds had up-to-date immunizations.

Kansas Parents As Teachers – Referral
In 2006-07 (includes all programs using the PAT curriculum):
8,911 families (60%) were linked to at least one community resource during the program year.
387 families were linked to the children’s health insurance program.
98 families (0.6%) were referred by Parents as Teachers to the appropriate social service agency because of suspected child abuse or neglect.

What parents said –
I found out my 3 year old had a speech impediment just as he turned 3 and was referred to the school district for free testing and evaluation, now he is enrolled in preschool.
Our daughter needed physical therapy for over a year. It helped tremendously with her gross motor skills, which now are normal. PAT was great help in knowing who to talk to, what to expect, etc.
The Parent Educator is helping me learn about schools. Very helpful.

More parent comments - My child is so excited when the Parent
Educator comes to our house. He is so excited to learn and to see what is in her box. The only problem I have with visits, are that it's only once a month.
This program – very helpful and comforting at times. Thank you. Time well spent for parent and child.
