2014 Fall Pledge Drive Co-chair Couples A message from Deacon Louis and Anne: Catholic radio is at the forefront of the new tools of Catholic evangelization and catechesis. Thanks to Holy Family Radio, Catholic radio is available in both the Diocese of Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo. Because of their hard work, and faithful supporters like you, the dream of Catholic radio has become a reality, bringing the Truth and strengthening the faith of thousands of people in west and southwest Michigan. With this new reality, come additional opportunities and responsibilities. Please prayerfully consider participating in this wonderful apostolate with a generous donation to help keep Holy Family Radio continue reaching more and more souls for Christ.

We are honored to serve as pledge drive co-chair couple. We have been both local supporters and involved with Holy Family Radio since their onset, and we fully understand the need and the impact that Catholic radio has brought to our community. In these trying times, it has become abundantly clear that Catholic moral teaching and Catholic principles need to be emphasized and brought to the forefront in many of the local debates, both social and political, as well as world affairs. Our Fall Pledge Drives theme, “God is in

Control,” certainly is a mantra which we all must come to fully understand and appreciate. All that we have, all that we are, and all that we ever will be is because of our heavenly Father’s providence. He truly is in control. Please prayerfully discern your financial circumstance and consider making a pledge to support this station. Radio stations never operate on their own. And, because Holy Family Radio is totally listener supported, any consideration of financial support would be greatly appreciated. We so desperately need to hear the truth today brought to us through local radio. Holy Family Radio has become the bastion, (a stronghold of defense) “safe-guarding” the fullness of truth for both our Catholic and non-Catholic brothers and sisters. That is why your pledge is so essential, “safeguarding” that Holy Family Radio will continue her mission. I am confident you will recognize many of the guests during these hours. From our Spiritual Director, Fr. Troy Nevins October has been designated “Respect Life Month” by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. Having an entire month each year to focus solely on life issues affords us the opportunity to stay current on the advances and challenges we face, along with refreshing our personal commitment to uphold the dignity of each and every person, regardless of the circumstance. While the most critical issue facing our country remains the very right to life itself, we know that this is just the first, in a long list of issues we face today. October is also the “Month of the Holy Rosary.” Celebrating the Memorial of Our Lady of the Rosary on October 7, the Church reminds us as St. Paul did that, “our struggle is not with flesh and blood but with the principalities, with the powers, with the world rulers of this present darkness, with the evil spirits in the heavens” (Ephesians 6:12). Prayer, especially prayer united with the Mother of God, is how we will change the culture of death to a culture of life! Where did I learn such things? Holy Family Radio, of course! Novena for the Intercession of St. John Paul the Great

Holy Family Radio’s fall pledge drive begins October 22, the very first Feast of St. John Paul the Great! Join us in praying a novena to this great saint for the success of the fall pledge drive from Monday, Oct. 13 – Tuesday, Oct. 21. O Blessed Trinity, we thank you for having graced the Church with Saint John Paul the Great and for allowing the tenderness of your fatherly care, the glory of the Cross of Christ, and the Splendor of the Spirit of love to shine through him. Trusting fully in your infinite mercy, and in the maternal intercession of Mary, he has given us a living image of Jesus the Good Shepherd. He has shown us that holiness is the necessary measure of ordinary Christian life and is the way of achieving eternal communion with you. Grant us, by his intercession, and according to your will, the graces we implore. Through Christ our Lord. Amen
