Hello, everyone. I want to wish you all a wonderful

and safe Holiday season, starting with

Thanksgiving! I hope you holiday is filled with

family and joy and good food and drink.

The Search process continues, and we are making

remarkable progress. The online interviews with

multiple candidates are complete, and we are

moving on to the in-person site visits and interviews

with the candidates and their spouses. This is an

exiting time in the process, because we can now

truly interact with our finalists. The Super

Committee (combined Search and Vestry) are

working well together, and the commitment to the

process is remarkable. Also remarkable, is the speed

at which this process is moving. We really are in the

final stages before issuing a call.

As a Parish, we are continuing to get it

done. Everywhere I look, people are stepping up

and making things better. The Rector's Office has

been cleaned and painted. The sliding glass door

that opens onto the Memorial Garden has been

replaced, and I am delighted by how much it

improves the room. Sometimes, you don't realize

how shabby something looks until it gets fixed. The

new door really brings the room to life. The Choir

Room has also had a face lift, with a thorough

cleaning, removal of the old, outdated wallpaper,

and a new coat of paint to bring it back to life as

well.

Message from the Senior Warden

The important thing to realize here, and these are just

two examples, is that no one requested this be

done. These works are wonderful examples of the

"we've got this" mentality and the "git r done" spirit

that has possessed our community in our transition.

We are helping ourselves, and don't it feel fine!

We have also started work on the Rectory! On

Saturday, 10/27, a capable group of volunteers

converged on the house and did a great deal of cleaning,

prep work, and painting. The main room has the first

coats of primer applied, and we'll be working on some

demolition work in upcoming weekends. Anything we

can do for ourselves saves us money, and I'm gratified

to see so many people take ownership of this

work. Please be on the lookout for announcements of

work days and see how you can help make a great home

for our new Rector. While we do the work we can do,

we are getting final bids from contractors and will soon

choose one to be our partner in the remodel. Progress

has admittedly been slow, but we are off and running.

Please continue in your support of your Ministries, our

Church, and each other. We are doing great. We are

making progress, and the work of Discernment is

nearing completion.

Thanks for all you do, and remember, we've got this!

With Love,

Leslie Penney, Senior Warden

Jesus told the disciples: “If you have faith as small as a mustard

see you can move mountains.” Thanks to many selfless people

here at All Saints, a mountain has been moved!

We hope our new Rector will enjoy the mountain of the

Priest’s office. A special thanks go out to John Beckwith,

Annette Finch, Florida Hinderliter, Betty Jordan, Carol Larson,

Linda Lorentz, Linda Neufeld, Bonnie Pilcher, Yvonna Rowett,

Tammy and Allen Simmons, Barb Tool and Anita Wallinger.

Without the generosity and support of these “Mountain

Movers”, our task would have been much larger.

The new sliding door in the Priest’s office which open onto the Memorial Garden will be in place October

25, 2018. The cleaning of the carpets will be complete our project.

Thanks so much everyone, Betty Croghan

Financial Picture of the Parish

All Funds September 2018 YTD Budget YTD

Pledges $ 10,038.00 $ 112,166.00 $ 127,499.99

Receipts $ 17,735.39 $ 177,045.91 $ 176,047.52

Expense $ 9,392.52 $ 183,938.20 $ 188,200.75

Operating Income $ 12,987.69 $ 140,313.99 $ 137,737.50

Operating Expense $ 7,913.01 $ 131,525.93 $ 150,524.50

Net Surplus (Deficit) $ 8,342.87 $ (6,892.29) $ (12,153.23)

Pledge income was roughly $4,129 under the amount budgeted for the month of September. Overall, we are $5,334 below

our pledged budget goals for the year and need to keep up with our pledges.

Fund raising activity brought in $1,026.

Capital gifts were received for the rector's office and paint was purchased. A door has been ordered.

We received a $1,500 donation to the landscape fund and replaced thistles with sod and repaired a section of sprinkler.

We received a $3,000 donation to be used for the principal on the Consolidation Loan.

We paid supply priests expense instead of a priest's salary and benefits. Resulting in $5,200 fewer expenses.

Vacation Bible School expenses of $568 were paid.

Thank you again for your support of the ministries of All Saints.

An ongoing reminder that the large deficit you see is not an operating deficit. We spoke at the Annual Meeting of

the fact we raised $19,700 for the roof repair in 2017. We paid the bill during 2018 with the money raised

during 2017. This deficit will appear all during 2018. Please remove $19,700 from the deficit, and you will see

our actual income/expense situation. Thus, without the roof repair, we are currently around $12,808 in the black.

Stewardship Committee

By the time you read this article you should

have received your pledge card for the coming

year. As the chair of this year’s pledge

campaign I want to focus on the mechanics and

reality of the pledge drive, rather than the

loftier, more important message of stewardship.

Every year the outcome of the pledge drive

determines the budget for the coming year.

This year we have an additional concern, the

calling of our new priest. We are also fixing up

the old rectory, formerly the Children’s Center,

into our new rectory. All of this while

addressing the on-going maintenance needs of

our parish home and our regular operational

costs.

My point here is that the pledge card, and the

commitment you express on it, is an important

part of the life cycle of the church. I ask that

you ponder it thoughtfully and prayerfully

before making your pledge. I hope you will

contribute to All Saints something that is

commensurate to the rewards you reap. I also

ask that you return it as promptly as possible so

that the vestry will have the time to ponder and

pray as they prepare our budget for the

upcoming year.

Dean Hagerman

It is hard to believe that Thanksgiving

is approaching quickly which means that

Christmas is not far behind. We will once again

decorate our Sanctuary and Chapel with the lovely

double poinsettia plants. If you would like to “sponsor”

one of these plants, please let either Tammy in the

church office or Linda Stark/Altar Guild chair know.

The cost is the same as last year - $25 per plant. AND –

you do get to take them home to decorate your house.

The Christmas Season is such a lovely time of year so

let’s make our church equally lovely.

All Saints’ Sunday School meets from 10:00-10:45 AM &

Youth Group from 11:45-1:00 after church. This year we’re

focused on teaching kids relationship skills they need in order

to follow Jesus’ commandment to love one another.

Bible study that offers Christ’s basic teachings and examples of

Christian living will support these lessons in just how Christian

love can be expressed.

Each week kids will share music, art, videos or games. Over the

coming months they’ll join in field trips and family potlucks,

serve as acolytes & coffee hour hosts, help serve food at our

Why We

Love All Saints…

Share Your Story!

Choir practice with Shauna Emara and several members is always a “high” in my week. I’m

not even afraid to sing in front of them. I was blessed last Sunday after practice with

a moment over coffee with Jim and Dave as we talked about me and caffeine.

I’ve always had a tendency to get hyper with people when I’m really happy, so I am

perpetually a bit hyper at All Saints, where I’m so thankful that my extra energy is

mostly welcome. So I remarked that I wouldn’t dare have any caffeine and Dave

grinned warmly at me, saying “we don’t want to have to scrape Rea off the

ceiling.” Then Jim commented, “but we do have really high ceilings here.”

That melts my heart. God bless the generous folks at All Saints!
