    Juans Leadership and its Influence

People who lead our society are well-known characters in our contemporary

age. Even each character in a novel, whichever it was, has an image in readersminds. This image could change from positive to a negative perspective. In fact, there are costs to pay, a battlefield to start fighting for, and goals to achieve. When it comes to leadership, one of those people that have gone through thewinning and losing experience is beginning a fascinating flight in whichsomebody else could join. It is beautiful! However, when people gained popularitythey become either great people with humility or people with arrogance.

However, it is not only their achievements what makes them great human beings, but also their own personal stories. Moreover, there are special traits that thesepeople work on and develop in order to accomplish their mission of leadership. As a result, one of the people I admire the most is not only Al Gore, former VicePresident of The United States of America, but also my best friend Juan becausehe had had a positive impact in several ways in my life.

Like Al Gore, Juan lost an important position, the presidency. Nevertheless, while Al Gore lost the Presidency of a great nation, Juan had lost the UnionStudents Presidency of the university that we both went in Colombia Universidad Nacional de Colombia. Consequently, both of them have lots in

common. Despite the fact that some people could consider them losers, thesegentlemen kept on working for people instead of doing anything but feeling pity ofthemselves. Al Gore, as most people must know, is the CEO of an organizationwhich is concerned about Global Warming. Thus, he has won the worldsappreciation for being involved in this problem. Since Juan helped others toachieve their goals, he won the appreciation of a smaller group of people, inwhich I considered myself a follower, when he was working with his ownorganization in Colombia too. As well as Rudolph Giuliani, the former New YorkCitys mayor, Juan had to face great troubles with terrorist groups, Colombianpeople called guerillas. These outrageous circumstances and its solution madehim a leader: an admirable person with vision, commitment, and skills to speak infront of people.

First of all, one of the ways in which I knew Juan was a great influence was inour school years. I knew Juan had a special talent: he had a vision, better thanours. For this reason, he was considered a visionary. Because he was good inboth sports and memory contests, he became very popular. Furthermore, herepresented us in math contests. Therefore, he gained a special vision

throughout the years he was making relevant projects for students. In addition,he was an outstanding student, an excellent classmate.

Secondly, after preparing himself to be a visionary in high school, he wasgoing to be challenged again. Then, he needed both to pass the admission test

to enter to college and get the scholarship, but it was going to be the beginning ofhis commitment with both that he was concentrating on, and what others neededfrom him. As a result, he not only did he pass, but he also did this for his family,in order to save millions of pesos for his education. In view of this fact, hiscommitment to his goals was stronger and his family was very proud.

Thirdly, once it was already the fifth semester of his major, pharmacy, hefound himself defending students rights against professors who dont care aboutstudents life. Therefore, he was improving his speaking skills, an important traitfor a leader, and he ran for president of the student union. Nonetheless, he was

going to lose the presidency. However, even though this was very painful, hekept on working for people as though he were an attorney at law. After thesesituations, he encouraged me and some friends of mine, to found a wallnewspaper called Farmavision, which was financed by our own pockets. It wasgoing to be only the beginning. After working with the Dean in an assignmentdesignated for him due to his powerful voice in the students hearing, he got anew job in the Sciences Faculty, and at the Pharmacy Department StudentCenter (PDSC). Consequently, this job would bring him both prestige andpeoples thankfulness, so becoming a helpful tool for everyone at the PDSC. As aresult, everyone remembered him at college as a leader and the youngeststudent ever in that faculty, but very mature in his ideas. Finally, he shone for his

great personality, and nowadays he continues working with the university indifferent positions.

To sum up, Juan achieved his goals becoming a visionary, a responsible problemsolver student, and an orator, which would become a powerful influence andpeoples voice for the ones who needed him the most.
