Powder Rocker is designed for unmatched flotation in deep snow. This tip has the most elevation and longest measurement of Rocker and offers skiers a “surfy” feel with enhanced soft-snow performance. The camber re-gion still exists to ensure edge-hold on firmer conditions.

Shows cambered and rockered regions of the ski and where the ski contacts the snow. On a rockered ski the new contact point is measured in reference to the traditional contact point.

Shows the region of the ski that is in contact with the snow when a skier is standing on the ski. A shorter region in contact with the snow translates into a ski that is easier to initiate in a turn.

Although the Baseline profiles have differing amounts of Rocker, they engage 100% of their effective edge, between the traditional contact points, once the ski is flexed in a turn. This translates into solid edge hold in the apex of the turn.

Sidewall Construction Unlike cap construction, the contents of a sidewall-constructed ski are sealed and protected by vertical material on the edges of the ski. Extra sidewall material is placed directly above the edge of the ski for additional strength and support. Due to the vertical nature of the construction process, sidewall construction provides extremely high transmission of power and pop.

Progressive Sidecut Progressive sidecut is a combination of two different radii, or sidecuts, that enhance the versatility of wider-waist skis. Standard sidecut theory is based on using a single radius. This works well on narrower skis, but becomes overpowering on wider skis, especially in variable conditions. The use of progressive sidecut on wider-waist skis guarantees improved turn initiation and hard-snow performance.

BioFlex CoreAll of our women’s skis use a combination of aspen, paulownia, and bamboo in a unique core known as BioFlex, a process where a dense aspen core underfoot is fused with lightweight paulownia at the tip and tail to reduce swing-weight. With the Alliance’s involvement, K2 developed this technology specifically for women: lightweight and easy to maneuver, yet sturdy and high-performance.

Metal LaminateK2 women’s metal laminate skis are built with a thinner strip of titanal than men’s skis. Proportional to lighter weight women skiers, the thinner layer offers overall weight reduction while still providing expert-level skiers the benefits of performance and damping, consistent with metal laminate construction.

Forward Shifted SidecutsOur women’s skis are built with the sidecut shifted two centimeters forward relative to that of a men’s ski. This accommodates the anatomical fact that the center of mass for a woman is generally much lower than that of a man. Shifting the sidecut forward places the skiers center of mass in an optimum position over the ski for more control and easier turn initiation.

WOMEn’S SPECiFiC TEChnOLOGy

Wood Cores We use a variety of woods in our cores to achieve the energy, rebound, and life you come to expect from a K2 ski. Fir and aspen, both solid and dense woods, are known for their inherent strength and durability. Paulownia is an eco-friendly, fast-growing renewable wood that is incredibly strong and lightweight. A softer wood, bamboo is recognized for being forgiving and lightweight.

Triaxial Braiding Triaxial braiding consists of braiding fiberglass around a wood core to provide torsional rigidity for added control. Developed in 1988 by K2 engineers, the patented triaxial braid interlocks strands of fiberglass around a milled wood core. Triaxially braided skis are incredibly energetic and responsive, while maintaining a level of ease in both expert and entry level skis.

Metal Laminate Built with two sheets of lightweight Titanal running the length of the ski, metal-laminate skis are the highest performing and most complex construction available from K2. Built from the base up, a metal laminate construction consists of alternating layers of fiberglass and Titanal above and below the wood core. Metal-laminates provide dampened, accurate, unshakable performance ideal for expert-level skiers.

Cap Construction Durable and lightweight “cap” skis are built by a sophisticated molding process that envelopes the core and internal materials with the top layer of the ski. Used throughout our ski line, cap constructions can be assembled with a variety of different cores. These variations, such as glass and/or metal materials, are the determining factors of the skis’ performance.

MOD Technology high-Performance Suspension SystemMOD functions by absorbing vibrations and impact loads along the entire ski, providing stronger edge-hold and a higher degree of power and control. MOD is a secondary core that flexes and moves on top of the primary core, allowing the overall ski flex to be unaffected.

Men’s-Specific MOD StructureThe optimum location and thickness of mass differs from men to women. The men’s MOD structure is more X-shaped, distributing mass to the perimeter for increased edge-hold. The thickest part of the MOD structure in the fore body includes a new technology window.

Unlike other categories in the K2 line, our twin tips are designed to perform both forward and switch. The demand for products that perform increasingly well in both directions is now the norm. K2 has exceeded that challenge by developing unique radius and taper angles to maximize the skis’ bi-directional performance.

This horizontal sidewall construction sandwiches a urethane layer in between ABS for shock ABSorption, lessening the impact of harsh landings to the rider. Urethane is used under foot to maximize the dampening but ABS is used toward the tip and tail to maximize performance and edge control. Featured on the newRecoil and the MissDemeanor.

TWIN TIP SPECIFIC SKI SHAPES

K2 tip and tail rivet plates were developed for durability but have now been modified to allow the additional option of a pre-cut climbing skin onto the ski. Simply screw out the center rivet, attach K2 skins and you’re ready for all your backcountry access needs. The skin attachment comes on the HellBent, obSETHed, Kung Fujas, MissDirected and MissBehaved. Never go into the backcountry unprepared. Have the proper training, tools and company with you.

Some select Factory Team skis come with built in inserts. These allow for super fast mounting of the K2/Marker Griffon and new Squire SchizoFrantic binding system without drilling. The increased surface area of the insert rings provide greater resistance to pullout than standard binding screws. The low stand height and weight of the Squire and Griffon Schizo track and cable system makes it ideal for park, backcountry or the entire mountain. The ability to mount once and adjust a full 6cm is where this binding system seperates itself from the rest. Offered on the HellBent, obSETHed, Kung Fujas and Recoil.

The biggest advancement in technology comes in the form of Baseline Profiles, the combination of rocker and camber on our Factory Team skis. The enhanced versatility and ease of turn initiation combined with the strong secure hold on groomed snow makes it an ideal choice for nearly the entire line.

This Twin Tip specific construction increases the durability of sidewall skis. A traditional sidewall construction produces a 90 degree angle where the top material and sidewall meet. The Twin Tech construction actually rolls the top material into the sidewall reducing the angle that is prone to abuse.

FACTORY TEAM

SymmETrICAl TAPEr:A symmetrical ski has a tip width that is identical to it’s tail width. This gives equivilent arcs forward and switch. To maximize performance, the mounting location is in the absolute center of the ski.

DIrECTIoNAl TAPEr:Moderately wider tip than tail maximizes the ski’s performance in the forward direction. This means the ski makes a slightly different arc when skiing switch.

BI-DIrECTIoNAl TAPEr: The tip is still wider but closer in width to the tail. This lets the ski perform exceptionally well while skiing in the forward direction, but the taper enables the skier to have similar switch arcs for better and more consistent switch riding.

Factory Team skis use thick, durable 3.5mm steel edges. They are far more resistant to cracking for a more durable, longer lasting ski.

JIB rocker Designed for the terrain park, this elevated tip and tail and zero camber underfoot offers the best blend of playfulness for butters and surface tricks combined with increased pop for unmatched ollie power.

of BackSideBackSide stormed the off piste scene 3 years ago to much fanfare and excitement from adventuresome rockers. Their “off the beaten path” approach has been praised by magazine critics far and wide, and the band of athletes that produces the albums keeps creating hit after hit. 2012 will be no different, and the BackSide crew will release new singles like “Screw That Chopper, i’m Walkin’” and “These Skins Were Made for Climbin’”, which pay tribute to backcountry touring aficionados and sidecountry powder slayers alike. The band’s instruments have been praised for their versatility, due in no small part to Baseline profiles, as well as their ability to accept any binding setup and to double as useful backcountry tools as a tribute to the genre’s functionality.

The “BACK” skis are more backcountry focused–the most efficient skis in the collection. These are characterized by lighter weights and Snophobic cap constructions that help shed snow and maintain lightness.

The “SiDE” skis are geared towards the sidecountry. As such, they are more robust, more powerful, sidewall constructed skis with generally wider surface area and more rocker.

Though no longer the biggest gal in the neighborhood, the GotBack is clearly the most versatile. For this reason, we focused our attention on improving glide effi ciency. The low angle at which our skin fi bers exit the backing material gives our skins a glide coeffi cient close to mohair.

Party Pole Reverse Adjustable SystemThis unique pole length adjustment system uses a smaller diameter shaft for the upper and a larger diameter for the lower (opposite of all other adjustment systems) which is perfect for performance in big mountain and park situations. This design also allows the LockJaw clamp mechanism to be cleverly hidden below the grip when the pole is in short (Park/Pipe) model.

Schizo Binding location Adjust This new Tool Tip design allows for quick and easy adjustment of the Marker Schizo binding forward and aft on the ski. Allowing for quick and easy adjustments between powder runs and laps in the park, without the need of a tool.

Slope MeterThis new, Patent Pending, design integrates a bubble vial inclinometer into the shaft/grip of the ski pole. This allows for quick accurate slope measurements without having to use an extra tool. Simply point the tip of the pole directly up the fall line and read the measurement below the grip.

TRIAX Carbon Technology Developed exclusively by K2, Triax Technology is the controlled process of winding 100% carbon unidirectional fi bers at a 60 degree angle around the outside of the shaft. The external TRIAX fi bers reinforce and control the uni-directional fi bers of the pole, to create a more durable/Stiff shaft. resorts to get some summertime ‘testing’ on the massive slopes of the Chilean

Andes. Deep into their winter, the BackSide and Factory Teams spent two
