How to Avoid the Wrath of God (Just Jesus Evangelistic Campaign, Day 33) John 3:31-36 31 He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all. 32 And what he hath seen and heard, that he testifieth; and no man receiveth his testimony. 33 He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true. 34 For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him. 35 The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand. 36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. - - - - - Today, I am continuing the daily Just Jesus Evangelistic Campaign sermon series, which is aimed at sharing the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ with unbelievers and reminding Christians, in this important election year, to keep the main thing the main thing -- and that is reaching unbelievers with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and praying for their salvation, for the problem in America is not only disobedient presidents and politicians but disobedient pastors, preachers, and parishioners who have refused to obey God's Great Commission and who have refused to obey God's repeated commands to "pray without ceasing" for unbelievers, believers, and political leaders. Yes, you should pray for the right candidate to win; yes, you should vote for the candidate that the Lord gives you peace about voting for. But, don't get caught up in it like the world does. Nothing much is going to change until people get saved and get their hearts right with the Lord. This campaign is inspired by the following three verses: 1 Corinthians 2:2 which says, "For I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified." Acts 5:42 which says, "And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ." And 2 Timothy 2:4 which says, "No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier."

This series is not for Christians necessarily. However, I do hope you are one of those saints who still loves to hear the "Old, old story of Jesus and His love" -- As the hymn

says, "For those who know it best Seem hungering and thirsting to hear it like the rest." This series is primarily for unbelievers, so they can hear and understand the Gospel and be saved from sin and the punishment of sin which is hell. This is message number 33. Steven James said, “The gifts of the Master are these: freedom, life, hope, new direction, transformation, and intimacy with God. If the cross was the end of the story, we would have no hope. But the cross isn't the end. Jesus didn't escape from death; he conquered it and opened the way to heaven for all who will dare to believe. The truth of this moment, if we let it sweep over us, is stunning. It means Jesus really is who he claimed to be, we are really as lost as he said we are, and he really is the only way for us to intimately and spiritually connect with God again.” On yesterday, we talked about how the Bible describes Jesus as issuing forth from the Heavenly Father. Jesus is the expression of God to mankind. He is God's voice that we might hear God's words. He is God's hands that we may experience God's actions. Why was Jesus such a perfect embodiment of God the Father as He walked on this earth?

Dr. John Walvoord and Dr. Roy Zuck said, “The Apostle John referred to Jesus as the One whom God has sent. Thirty-nine times the Gospel of John refers to Jesus being sent from God. This affirms Jesus’ deity and heavenly origin, as well as God’s sovereignty and love in initiating the Son’s Incarnation.” Verse 34 of our passage reads, "For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him." Jesus spoke God's words, and God's words alone, because there were no limits placed on Him. Other prophets and preachers had a "measure" of God's Spirit. John the Baptist had a "measure" of God's spirit. They only revealed bits and pieces of God. Jesus did not have a "measure" of God's Spirit; He had God's Spirit fully and completely. Thus, when He spoke, when He ministered, when He acted, it was just as if God the Father was speaking, ministering, or acting. Verse 35 says, "The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand." The prophets whom God sent to preach His Word down through the years had been servants; but Jesus was the Son. Jesus had a special relationship with the Father that no one else had. Other servants were plucked from among the people of their generation in order to reach the people of their generation. But, Jesus Christ, the one who is from everlasting to everlasting, was sent directly from God to reach the people of all generations. Being God's Son, the Father placed "all things" in Jesus' hands. This is good news for us, because we who are lost in our sins deserve to receive nothing from God's hand. But we can have many blessings through Jesus Christ. Matthew Henry said, "All grace is given into Jesus' hand as the channel of conveyance; all those good things which God intended to give to the children of men, including eternal life, and all its preliminaries. We are unworthy that the Father should give those things into our hands, for we have made ourselves the children of his wrath; he hath therefore appointed the Son of his love to be

trustee for us, and the things he intended for us he gives into his hands, who has merited both honours for himself and favours for us." The greatest gift that we can receive through Jesus Christ is the gift of salvation and eternal life. Verse 36 says, "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him." In order to receive this precious gift from God, we must believe on Jesus Christ for salvation. God does not automatically give us eternal life. We must come through Jesus Christ in order to get it. It is a gift. Those who reject that gift, those who do not believe will be subject to God's wrath. This wrath "abideth" on them, that is it keeps on abiding -- it rests on them, eternally and forever. Dr. John Walvoord and Dr. Roy Zuck said, “Man has only two options: trust in the Son or reject the Son. Unbelief is tragic ignorance but it is also willful disobedience to clear light. God’s wrath is mentioned only here in the Fourth Gospel . “Wrath,” God’s necessary righteous reaction against evil, remains on the unbeliever. This wrath is future but it also exists now. Endless sin and disobedience will result in endless punishment. The question is: Will you accept the gift of salvation that God is offering to you through Jesus Christ? Will you receive eternal life or suffer eternal wrath in Hell? If you want to receive the gift of salvation that God has for you, allow me to share with you how you can accept Jesus Christ as your Savior today. 1. Accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God's law. The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 7:20: "For there is not a just man upon earth that doeth good, and sinneth not." Romans 3:23 reads: "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." In fact, I am the chief of sinners, so don't think that you're alone. 2. Accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: "For the wages of sin is death…" 3. Accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: "And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." The Bible says in Revelation 21:8: "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death." 4. Accept the fact that you cannot do anything to save yourself! The Bible states in Ephesians 2: 8, 9: "For by grace are ye saved through faith: and that not of yourselves: it is a gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast." 5. Accept the fact that God loves you more than you love yourself, and that He wants to save you from hell. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that He

gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." 6. With these facts in mind, please repent of your sins, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and pray and ask Him to come into your heart and save you this very moment. The Bible states in the book of Romans 10:9, 13: "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Dear friend, if you are willing to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation, please pray with me this simple prayer: Heavenly Father, I realize that I am a sinner and that I have done some bad things in my life. For Jesus Christ sake, please forgive me of my sins. I now believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died for me, was buried, and rose again. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life today. Amen. If you accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior today, please e-mail me at [email protected] and let us know. There is some free material that we want to send you. If you have a prayer request, please e-mail that to us as well, and we will pray for you until you tell us to stop. God loves you. We love you.
