JUNIOR BAKE OFF APPLICATION FORM

Would you like to take part in a new CBBC series of Junior Bake Off, and have the chance to be crowned the first ever Junior Bake Off Champion?

If you love baking, are aged 9-12 years old and want to show off your skills in front of our judges, then get in touch.

You don't have to be a professional baker to take part! You may like baking fantastic cakes or maybe you’re potty about pies and pastry, or simply bonkers about baking bread. The judges are interested in whatever you think tastes the yummiest and what you love to eat.

If you are interested, print off the application form, fill it in and return it to the address given.

We are currently in the process of casting for junior bakers, therefore all completed applications should be sent back to us by June 24th 2011 as we will be filming in August 2011.

You must have your parent's or guardian’s permission before completing the form and you must be available for filming during August, 2011.

There are more details about how to apply on the form. Please read them carefully. We will consider everyone who applies equally, but cannot guarantee that everyone will be successful. Only people who have made it to the next round will be contacted by the production team.

JUNIOR BAKE OFF SELECTION CRITERIA

You need to be very, very enthusiastic about baking

You need to consider yourself better at baking than most other children you know

You need to have an awareness of the different types of food that can be baked – bread, cakes, biscuits, pies and tarts – and have had a go at baking some of these already

Ideally baking is something that you do often or at least help your family or friends bake

You need to have baked often on your own before or at least under the supervision of a parent/guardian. If you do bake with a parent/guardian, you must be able to bake your items without assistance.

You need to have several different types of food that you can bake to show your talent to the judges

You need to be prepared to take some constructive feedback (the judges may like some of what you bake, but there is a chance they may not like all of it)

The judges will be looking for how well you bake and how delicious your food tastes, and they will also be looking for your potential. This means that you may not be perfect at everything now, but you may be one day!

We are looking for children from all over the UK and from all sorts of different backgrounds

You cannot be shy in front of camera!

PARENTAL CONSENT FORM

PLEASE NOTE THAT JUNIOR BAKE OFF IS A TELEVISED SEARCH FOR THE BEST JUNIOR BAKER AND TELEVISION PROGRAMME FOR CHILDREN AGED BETWEEN 9 AND 12 YEARS OLD. THEREFORE A PARENT/LEGAL GUARDIAN WILL BE REQUIRED TO ATTEND ALL AUDITIONS, SCREEN TESTS, FILMING DAYS, PRESS AND PUBLICITY DATES AND ANY OTHER DAYS ON WHICH THEIR CHILD WILL BE REQUIRED TO ATTEND AS PART OF THE PROGRAMME.

To the Parent or Guardian:

Your child would like to apply to take part in CBBC’s Junior Bake Off. The show will be transmitted on the CBBC Channel and possibly other BBC channels, the CBBC website and iPlayer. If successful we will film their experience for a maximum of 6 days over a two week period in August 2011. Please note that more precise dates will be given nearer the time of filming.

For the application to be considered, children need to provide the completed questionnaire and a signed parental consent form, which should be sent directly to the external company, Love Productions, a company which is making the programme for the BBC.

The production company is looking for a variety of different qualities from an applicant and also receives a large number of applications. Therefore, we cannot guarantee that everyone will be successful. Only those who make it to the next round will be contacted by the production company.

If the application is successful, the information provided may be used by the programme, but it will not be used for any other purpose. Your details will not be stored in a database and all applications will be destroyed once they have been processed.

Love Productions has a Child Protection Policy and all staff are in compliance with it.

6. When selecting applicants for Junior Bake Off the following will be taken into account: skill, enthusiasm, drive, love of baking, lively characters who are comfortable being filmed. Initial selection will be based on the application forms. In addition the Producers may (but may not) invite short listed applicants to attend 1 or 2 auditions. We will be looking for a mix of finalists to reflect the range in age, location, gender and diversity of junior bakers in Britain. The

Production team's decisions regarding selection to the programmes are entirely at their discretion and are final.

Junior Bake Off Terms and Conditions of Entry

All applicants must be between the ages of 9 and 12 years as of 8th August 2011

The programme will be filmed during August 2011 and all applicants must ensure that they will be available for up to 6 days filming during this period. Please note that more precise filming dates will be given nearer the time of filming.

All applicants must be resident in the UK

Any child with immediate members of their family or members of their household who are employees/directors/agents of either the BBC or Love Productions are not eligible to appear on the programmes or participate in the application process.

All applicants must be accompanied by a parent or a legal guardian at the audition and during filming

Submission of an application form and compliance with the above does not in any way constitute an offer to appear on the programme.

The Production Team’s decisions regarding selection to the programme are final.

Selection to take part in the programme may be dependent on consents being obtained, if needed, from schools and/or local authorities.
