Another Special DeliveryThings keep happening on a daily basis at the Northeast Montana Veterans Memorial Park in Fort Peck. Wednesday afternoon the solid granite memorial benches arrived from Montana Granite Industries out of Great Falls. A dozen in all, they are polished to a mirror finish. The Montana Granite crew is exceptional in handling with care, as their motto is: “A memorial is purchased

because someone lived... Not because someone died.” Apparently, Veteran W.C. Saxton’s motto was, “There were no atheists in foxholes.” Amen to that. If you have yet to visit the Northeast Montana Veterans Memorial Park, it’s an overwhelming site; plan to spend some time. The official opening ceremony will be held on July 4th at 10:00. “Feel free to bring a lawn chair,” says Steve Page.

When John Laughery of Moses Lake, Washington, learned he’d won a Montana elk hunting SuperTag, he let out a whoop so loud his secretary ran into his office. “What happened?” she asked. “I just won the lottery!” Laughery laughs at the recollection. “She thought I was talking about Mega Millions. ‘But no,’ I told her, ‘It’s better than that. I just got a SuperTag!’ Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is once again offering a SuperTag lottery for hunters to take another shot at the dream. Eight lucky hunters will win a SuperTag license. SuperTag chances are available for moose, bighorn sheep, mountain goat, antelope, elk, deer, bison, and mountain lion. One SuperTag will be drawn for each species. The SuperTag can be used in any hunting district in Montana — including Montana’s legendary trophy districts. Revenue from the new SuperTag sales is used to enhance hunting access and boost FWP enforcement efforts. But time is ticking as the deadline to purchase SuperTags is thursday, June 30, 2016. To purchase Supertag chances, you must have a current year’s conservation license. An unlimited number of chances may be purchased at $5 per chance. To purchase chances online go to FWP’s Online Licensing Service. You’ll receive a receipt verifying purchase that lists your lottery numbers. There was a Minnesota phone company that was going to hire one team of telephone pole installers,and the boss had to choose between a team of two Norwegian guys and a team of two Irish guys. So the boss met with both teams and said: “Here’s what we’ll do. Each team will be installing poles out on the new road for a day. The team that installs the most phone poles gets the job. Both teams headed right out. At end of the shift, Pat and Mike, the Irish guys, came back and the boss asked them how many they had installed. They said that it was tough going, but they’d put in twelve. Forty-five minutes later, Ole and Sven, the Norwegian guys came back in and they were totally exhausted. The boss asked, “Well, how many poles did you guys install?” Ole, the team leader, wiped his brow and sighed, “Sven and me, ve got tree poles in.” The boss gasped, “Three? Those two Irish guys put in twelve!” “Vell, Yah,” said Ole, “but you should see how much day left stickin’ out of da ground!”

So… Wanting to keep dirty old men out of the little girls’ room is discrimination? Let’s end the discussion by making all bathrooms unisex one seaters. Just like grandpa’s outhouse. Think of all the jobs this will create... (while costing taxpayers billions upon billions!)

Some Personal Miscellaneous Thoughts My goal for 2015 was to lose just 10 pounds. Only 15 to go.  How to prepare Tofu:1. Throw it in the trash.2. Grill some Meat. I just did a week’s worth of cardio after walking into a spider web. I don’t mean to brag but......I finished my 14-day diet in 3 hours and 20minutes. Â

 Senility has been a smooth transition for me. Remember back when we were kids and every time it was below zero out theyclosed school?Me neither. I may not be that funny or athletic or good looking or smart ortalented....I forgot where I was going with this. I love being over 50.  I learn something new every day.......and forget5 others.Â

 My dentist told me I need a crown. I was like: I KNOW !, Right? I think I’ll just put an “Out of Order” sticker on my forehead and call ita day. Have a great Day!!!!!

OBITUARY

Lloyd Eide Lloyd Thomas Eide, 96, died of natural causes on Monday, June 20, 2016 at the Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital in Glasgow, MT. Lloyd was born October 28, 1919, in Anaconda, MT to Norwegian immigrant parents Nels O. and Elna (Karlson) Eide. As a young boy he, along with his parents, moved to a homestead farm in northeast Montana in the Baylor Community. He attended grade school at a country school in the Midway Community and graduated from Glasgow High School in 1939. After graduation he worked on the Fort Peck Dam construction until World War II broke out in 1941. Just one week after Pearl Harbor was attacked Lloyd joined the U.S. Army Air Corp. He spent four years with the 79th Fighter Group in the European war effort including France, Italy, and North Africa. When Lloyd returned home from the war in August of 1945 he went to work on the family farm raising wheat, barley, and cattle until his retirement in 1990. In September of 1952 he married Alice Waetzig and together they had three daughters. Lloyd was active in the Air Force Reserve and commander of the VFW. He was an active member of the First Lutheran Church, Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, Masonic Lodge, Shriners, Toast Masters, Sons of Norway, and many other community organizations. He was very involved in the Republican Party and enjoyed public speaking. He also taught amateur boxing and sold insurance for Farm Bureau. In his retirement years he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, helping out on the farm, and spending afternoons at the VFW reminiscing and telling war stories. On October 28, 2014 Lloyd was awarded the French Knight of Legion of Honor Award. This is the highest and most renowned distinction in France, given in appreciation for his contribution to the United States’ role in the liberation of France. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents Nels and Elna Eide, as well as an infant grandchild. Lloyd is survived by his wife Alice, daughters Stephanie (Glen) Meier, Heidi (Larry) See, and Lisa (Les) Redfield; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was proud of his Norwegian

ancestry and liked to speak Norwegian to anyone who could understand and talk with him. Lloyd was known for his exuberant personality and was a kind gentle spirit with an unconditional love for his family. A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 23rd, 2016 at Bell Mortuary in Glasgow, Montana with friends receiving family from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Services will be Friday, June 24th, 2016 at the First Lutheran Church in Glasgow, Montana at 11:00 AM with Pastor Hedegaard officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Highland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church, Shriners Children Hospital, or charity of your choice. Bell Mortuary is in charge of arrangements and condolences may be left at bellmortuarymontana.com.
