GMR Consortium Wins in Philippines !!

The GMR-Megawide Consortium has been awarded the Mactan-Cebu International Airport rehabilitation, expansion and operation project for 25-year concession period by the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC), Republic of the Philippines, on 5th April, 2014.

GMR-Megawide Consortium emerged as the highest bidder in the International competitive bidding process. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. GM Rao, Group Chairman, said “We are delighted to be awarded the Mactan-Cebu International Airport project. We firmly believe that GMR-Megawide Consortium has the right credentials and capabilities to undertake this prestigious project

and deliver an airport that Cebuanos and Filipinos will be proud of.”

The GMR-Megawide Consortium paid the upfront premium to the Mactan Cebu International Airport Authority, Philippines, and signed the Concession Agreement on 22nd April 2014. IGIA & RGIA Adjudged Second Best Airports!Indira Gandhi International Airport was recently adjudged the 2nd best airport in 25-40 million passengers per annum (MPPA) category in the world. Mr. I Prabhakara Rao, CEO-DIAL, received the award.

RGIA has been honored with the ‘ACI Director General’s Roll of Excellence’ Award by the Airport Council International (ACI), in recognition of the airport being in the top 3 airports in the world for 5 consecutive years. RGIA has now become the only airport in India to have received this distinction! Mr. SGK Kishore, CEO-GHIAL, received the award from Ms. Angela Gittens, Director General, Airport Council International (ACI).

Qatar Airways Commences Freighter Operations From RGIA

World class facilities and multi-modal connectivity make RGIA an emerging logistics hub!

Rajiv Gandhi International Airport has added yet another prominent connectivity route on the global cargo map with Qatar Airways Cargo launching freighter operations from the 1st of April 2014. Qatar Airways Cargo will operate the state-of-the-art Airbus A330-200F freighters twice a week to Hyderabad, emphasising RGIA’s status as a strategic cargo centre.

With Hyderabad having evolved into a surging economic centre with focus on the pharma industry complemented by a strategic location vis-à-vis domestic and International destinations, the importance of the deployment of dedicated wide-body services is becoming more apparent.

The world class services and facilities at the airport coupled with Qatar Airways’ expertise, along with the connectivity to the rest of the world through their global hub at Doha will enable RGIA offer the best of service offerings to the customers.

New Self-Boarding Gates @ IGIA

With the objective of increasing efficiency of passenger flow and releasing airport staff for other duties and reducing operating costs, Self-Boarding Gates have been installed at IGIA. Twelve Self-Service check-in kiosks developed in-house and customized for low-cost airline requirements have been deployed at Terminal-1 since January 2014. A set of ten Self-Service Check-in kiosks operating on ARINC software have been deployed at Terminal 3.

Along with above initiatives, IGIA has recently embarked on another journey to explore automation in self-boarding with ARINC, Gunnebo and Kaba willing to participate in the upcoming trials along with airline partners.

Mock Emergency Exercise @ RGIA

A full scale Mock Emergency Exercise- Aircraft crash in partnership with British Airways was carried out at RGIA on 25th March 2014. As per the DGCA guidelines, emergency drills are conducted once in every two years to test the airport’s emergency preparedness and to familiarize various agencies about their responsibilities in handling emergency situations.

Agencies including CISF, State Police, State Fire Department, State Disaster Response team, Government & Apollo Hospitals, other State Government departments, AAI, BCAS, Immigration & Customs, British Airways, Operations team and other concerned departments participated in the exercise.

MGAT Aircraft line Maintenance Launched !

MAS GMR AERO TECHNIC LIMITED (MGAT), the joint venture between Malaysian Aerospace Engineering Sdn Bhd (MAE) and GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited, has now forayed into Aircraft Line Maintenance business by inaugurating its first office at the engineering building within RGIA. MGAT has inked its first contract with British Airways to provide the Line Maintenance Technician support at RGIA for the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

The foray marks the beginning of the expansion plans of MGAT aimed at providing a comprehensive maintenance support to the airlines flying in and out of and within India. MGAT envisages the expansion to other airports within India. Currently MGAT has Line Maintenance approval from DGCA (India) for A320 and B737 aircraft types and from EASA for A320, B737 NG, Q400 and ATR 42/72.

GMR Chhattisgarh Energy Ltd. bagged the prestigious Think Media Inc. instituted Best CSR Practice Award-2014. This is the second time that the Group has won Think Media’s CSR award this year. GCEL’s award-winning entry was titled, ‘VDC: A one-in-all package for CSR.’ VDC - Village Development Centre is a physical facility created by GCEL at Raikheda Village in Chhattisgarh’s Raipur District where GMRVF engages people in GCEL’s project neighbourhoods with tangible inputs resulting in measurable transformative changes in community Health, Education, Livelihoods and Empowerment outcomes.

The winning criteria included, among others, significance of issues addressed, scale of impact, people’s participation, innovativeness, etc. After rigorous rounds of discussions, eminent members of the Jury comprising Mr. Navin Bhatia, MD-Navkar Skill,

GMR Kamalanga Energy Ltd. team bagged the Fair Play Trophy in the 3rd Amity Cup – 2014 Cricket Tournament played among eight teams - GKEL, Monnet Power, Navbharat, OSPCB, NTPC, NTPC/TTPS, JSPL & Nalco of Angul & Dhenkanal District, Odisha.

The matches were played at Biju Patnaik Sports Complex, NALCO, Angul. Mr. Haresh, Mr. Ch. Pattnaik, GM – Mechanical and Mr. Susanta Sahoo, AGM – EHS, received the trophy from Mr. Kaniha, AGM – NTPC. Mr. M.J. Xavier, Executive Director -VIT University, and Dr. Jawahar Surisetti, declared GCEL as winner in the ‘Good Samaritan’ category. VDC offers services focused on Education, Health, and Empowerment & Livelihood. VDC has established and is operating Community Dispensary, Community Library, Tuition Classes, Tailoring Training Centers, Kidsmart Center, Farmer’s School, Income Generation Center and Saheli for Women.

Group Chairman Visits GKELThe Group Chairman visited the new office of GKEL at Bhubaneswar on 4th April 2014, during his two-day visit to Odisha. He took time off on the second day to explore

Mr. GBS Raju, Business Chairman - Energy, accompanied by Mr. GK Raghunandanan, CEO - Gas and Liquid SBU, Mr. G B Nayak, Head - Gas and Liquid O&M, visited the GPCL Plant, Chennai, on 22nd May 2014 to review the performance, financials and progress of the Power plant.

A formal review and presentation session was organized by the GPCL team where the plant performance, financials, continuous improvement plans, present Power situation at Tamil Nadu & new regulations of CERC and CSR Activities of GPCL plant were discussed.

Mr. GBS Raju elaborated on the importance of GPCL Plant in changing the scenario of the Power sector.

Engaging ‘Energy’ Business TeamsTo provide the employees an opportunity to interact with senior leaders, Town Halls were conducted across locations of Energy business in the last quarter.

GMR Kamalanga Energy Ltd. organized Town Hall at Kamalanga. The event provided an opportunity for employees to interact with Mr. RV Sheshan, MD - GKEL and Mr. R. Ravindranathan Nair, COO. Mr. Sheshan set the proceedings in motion by briefing on exploring various opportunities & progress of the Group.

The Town Hall provided an opportunity to acknowledge outstanding performers of EMCO and GCEL. Spot Awards were presented on the occasion.

CIP Hits a Century !!To reward and recognize the businesses on the successful completion of 100 Continuous Improvement projects (CIPs) and to motivate them, a Continuous Improvement Projects (CIP) Reward & Recognition event was organized on 23rd May 2014.

The top CIPs from each business competed in the Group-wide Reward and Recognition Contest. The teams were evaluated by external panel members comprising of eminent industry leaders -Mr. RSSLN Bhaskarudu, Independent Director GIL, Mr. Satyendra Kumar, Senior Consultant, Advisor to CII and Ex Senior VP & Global Head - Quality at Infosys.The event was attended by Mr. GM Rao, Group Chairman, Mr. GBS Raju, Business Chairman-Energy, Mr. PM Kumar, Business Chairman-IB &G, Mr. Sanjeev Sahi, Group President-HR, Mr. Parmit Chadha, CEO-Strategy & Development, Mr. Arun Kumar Sharma, CEO-Highways, Mr. SGK Kishore, CEO-GHIAL, Mr. Ramakrishnan, Advisor & Chief of Staff GCMO, Mr. Sujit Nag, Chief-Projects and Engineering, Mr. Radhakrishna Babu, CFO-DIAL and other senior leaders.

The Group Chairman, in his address congratulated all the members for taking up CIPs and moving towards excellence. GMR Infra ‘s QIP stint successful!

The ELP program aims at bringing an understanding of the imperatives of businesses in the changing business environment, assess business opportunities & risks, enhance business acumen, appreciate the process of strategy formulation & implementation, understand self & interpersonal behaviors and develop integrative and holistic thinking.

GMR Infrastructure has successfully completed the Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP) of the equity shares of GMR Infrastructure Limited. The Company has raised ` 1477 Cr through this placement process. The Issue of GMR Infra was launched with a base target of US$ 200m and the management decided to keep the Issue size as US$ 250m.

The total demand for the Issue was oversubscribed close to 2 times, drawing investors from Asia and USA. The entire transaction of the placement from the launch of the process till the completion, was completed in a record 5-6 week time. The Group has undertaken the qualified institutional placement at a critical juncture. With the addition of new investors, the company is looking forward to improve its stock position.

Mr. I Prabhakara Rao, CEO-DIAL, Mr. SGK Kishore, CEO-GHIAL, Mr. Sanjeev Sahi, Group President HR, Mr. ASK Reddy, Sector-CHRO, Ms. Supriya Roy, Head – TMG, along with the professors of IIM-K, graced the occasion and presented the certificates to the participants.

The leaders urged the participants to take on innovative strategic initiatives to lead the Group towards a better tomorrow.

GKSIR is a Special Investment Region spread over 4300 acres near Hosur, Krishnagiri District. The project which falls within Chennai-Bangalore Industrial Corridor, is about 290 km from the port city of Chennai. The project is well connected with a network of National and State highways, giving it excellent connectivity with Chennai, Bangalore and other major industrial and urban clusters. Kakinada SIRProject UpdatesKAKINADA SIR ON TRACK

Kakinada SIR received formal approval for extension of existing SIR notification in April 2014 along with the Consent for Establishment (CFE) from the APPCB (Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board) for the development of Phase 1 - 916 acres of land.

RESETTLEMENT & REHABILITATION AGREEMENT

KSIR entered into an agreement with Project Displaced Families (PDFs) in December 2013 to kick-start the ground works in the Resettlement & Rehabilitation colony in Kakinada, a significant development in the project since its inception.

The Groundbreaking ceremony for Rural BPO building has been successfully completed on 25th April 2014. The Sarpanch, members of Panchayat Ward, committee members, villagers, BPO training students and employees of KSIR participated in the ceremony. The infra team plans to complete the construction of Rural BPO building in a span of two months.

Land leveling / development works - Phase-1 also commenced on 28th April 2014.

A batch of 25 youth is undergoing training for Rural BPO and selection process for the 2nd batch is on. The three month training program will provide employment opportunities in the upcoming Rural BPO in the project area.

GMR Hungund-Hospet Highway Achieves Final COD

GMR Infrastructure Speeding on Railways

GMR Highways team successfully completed the balance 12.70 km (6 lanes) stretches of the Hungund-Hospet Highway and commenced commercial operation on 14th May 2014 with 3rd Toll Plaza.

The Group had achieved Partial COD for 86.30 km stretches (4 lanes) of this project on 23rd November, 2012. The project was awarded through International Competitive bidding by NHAI on DBFOT model with a concession period of 19 years including construction period of 2.5 years. The highway connecting Sholapur (Maharashtra) and Mangalore (Karnataka), passes through three Districts of Karnataka - Bagalkot, Koppal & Bellary providing connectivity to the towns of Hungund, Illkal, Kustagi, Hosahalli, Munirabad and Hospet.

GMR Infrastructure Limited led consortium has won construction package of rail line doubling between Jhansi and Bhimsen stations in the State of Uttar Pradesh, India.

The work includes construction of Roadbed, major & minor bridges, Track Linking, Outdoor S&T Works, OHE, TSS & general electrical works from Jhansi to Erich Road. The Project is scheduled to commence from 2nd April 2014 and duration for completion of the project is 42 months. Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. has issued the Letter of Award to GMR consortium on 20th Feb 2014.The consortium also won three construction packages of rail line doubling of Multi Modal Transport

System (MMTS) – Phase II works on Secunderabad Division of South Central Railway in the State of Andhra Pradesh, India. Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. has issued the Letter of Award to the GMR consortium on 11th June 2014.

The work includes construction of Roadbed, major & minor bridges, Track Linking, Outdoor Signal &

Telecom (S&T) Works, Overhead Electrification (OHE), Traction Sub Station (TSS) & general electrical works for MMTS – Phase II. GMR is the lead Member of the consortium with TATA Projects & Kalindee Rail Nirman Ltd. as the partner for OHE and Track works, S&T works respectively. The project is scheduled to commence by middle of July 2014, with a completion period of 30 months.

Saving LivesSix year old Master Dasari Charan Teja is the second child of a poor farmer from a village near Rajam, Srikakulam District. In the early hours of 15th May 2014, he suffered a Scorpion sting and was in terrible pain. Post treatment, the kid later left the hospital with a beaming face. GMR Varalakshmi CARE Hospital works with the objective of making emergency care accessible to the under-privileged, at affordable cost.

Giving Wings to Dreams!Thirteen year old Pushpa Gond belongs to a poor tribal family from Lalpur village in the project affected area of SJK Powergen Ltd., Shahdol. Her parents are marginal farmers and to supplement their income from farming, they work as daily labour. Pushpa is one of siblings and children attending Government School at Lalpur. She was among the few children selected for coaching support.

Ekalavya Schools are residential CBSE English Medium schools dedicated for ST communities and admissions are given through District level entrance examination.

With intensive coaching support from the Foundation team, Pushpa was selected for admission into Ekalavya School in 2012. In the past 3 years, 10 students from Lalpur village received admission and are excelling in both

academics and extra-curricular activities. With access to quality education and positive environment, Pushpa is now confident about her future and aspires to become a Doctor!

Nurturing ‘Entrepreneurship’SBI Macquarie and GMRVF teams collaborated to nurture the entrepreneurial spirit among the younger generation. An ‘Entrepreneurship Fund’ has been created to provide grants/loans to the trainees graduating from GMRVF’s Vocational Training Centres. To avail the grant, trainees from GMRVF training centres can apply from any of the GMR locations. One batch is successfully complete wherein 8 grants have been sanctioned at Hyderabad and Delhi. The coming months will see many young people transform from the unemployed to employers!

Education for EmpowermentGMRVF believes that education is an important tool for the empowerment of communities. In line with this thought, the team took initiatives towards adult literacy. Adult Literacy Centres are run by GMRVF in various locations. With support from Tata Consultancy Services, GMRVF introduced Computer Based Functional Literacy (CBFL) program and conducted Training of Trainers (ToT) program for the Foundation staff and volunteers. ToT program in Telugu language was organized at Hyderabad on 3rd January 2013 and in Hindi at Delhi on 30th April 2013. Beneficiaries are mostly women of age group of 20-55 years. Over 170 adults have completed the Adult Literacy Modules to become literate.

Introduction to the World of Alphabets

Shahnaz, a 37 year old married woman and mother of five kids, lives in Savda. Her husband is a driver earning meagre income.

Due to her inability to read, she never ventured out alone as she couldn’t read the bus numbers and sign boards. She was totally dependent on her husband and couldn’t help her kids in studies.

She got to know about the Computer based Functional Literacy Program of GMRVF and enrolled in the November 2013 - February 2014 batch and completed it successfully. Today she reads Hindi and does simple Mathematics.

“I am confident now and read my children’s books. They are happy and proud of me. My husband’s attitude also has changed and he is happy seeing me reading books. I now get due respect” says a confident Shahnaz.

Para-vet Services @ KSIR

To address the veterinary requirements for the livestock farmers, GMRVF conducted Veterinary Camps in association with the Department of Animal Husbandry. A Para-veterinarian has been identified and roles & responsibilities decided in consultation with Joint Director, Animal Husbandry Department. A Veterinary Clinic is now established for services such as Deworming, First Aid, medicine and nutrition supplement distribution etc. Today, 1000 farmers from 18 villages have access to quality veterinary services.

Smt. Rama Devi visits Rajam Smt. Rama Devi Bommidala visited Rajam on 25th of March’2014 and visited GMRIT, GMRV Care Hospital and NIRED - Vocational training centre.

She interacted with parents and students of Gifted children scheme, addressed the trainees at the Vocational Training Centres - JIRED and GIRED and motivated the women of the Self Help Groups promoted by GMRVF. She spent quality time with the children of Balabadi - Guravam village, SGCSR College, and students of GMRIT during her visit.

GMR Education Wing: HighlightsGMR Institute of Technology, Rajam has been ranked 62nd among top 100 Engineering Colleges in India by Data Quest-April 2014.

Three workshops and two technical exhibitions were conducted at GMRIT in the last quarter.

A Blood Donation Camp was conducted at GMRIT in association with Red Cross Society on 14th March 2014, in which 175 students donated blood.

Mr. Vijay Babu, student of GMRIT, bagged Gold Medal under the Brown Belt category at the 13th A.P State KUNG-FU and Karate Invitation Tournament held at Ramchandrapuram, East Godavari District, on 15th and 16th March 2014.

Annual Day and Sports Day celebrations of GMRIT were conducted on 5th April 2014. Dr. Prasad Raju GVA, Registrar, JNTU Kakinada, was the Chief Guest for Annual Day and Ms. Aruna Rani, Gold Medal Winner in Jr. Common Wealth Games - 2013 was the Chief Guest for Sports Day celebrations.

SGCSRC College held the 13th Governing Council meeting on 24th March 2014. A three member inspection committee from Dr. BR Ambedkar University visited the college on 29th April 2014 to approve the additional section in B.com.

SML DAV School, Palakonda, Rajam, celebrated Annual Sports Day and Cultural meet on 22nd & 23rd April 2014 respectively.

Students from SML DAV, Palakonda, participated in International Olympiad of Science and Mathematics. The students bagged 17 Gold medals, 14 Silver medals and 12 Bronze medals.

Students from GMRDAV School, Rajam, participated in English Olympiad and won 10 Gold, 10 Silver and 10 Bronze medals. 2 students secured State 17th and 18th ranks in the second level National Cyber Olympiad Competition conducted by Science Olympiad Foundation.
