Superb! Ex Australia Post Archives (Sale #1 Lot 64). [The Colonial Agents requisitioned stamps of these values from De La Rue. However, in 1882 Tasmania had authorised postal use of revenue stamps printed in the Colony. Hobart advised the Crown Agents of this fact & advised that the proposed stamps would be "useless". However, London knows best so they were printed & despatched but were never issued: see Eaton at pp431-436]

PFofPakistan Certificate (2010). Superb condition! Another exceptional item.

The certificate states "...overprint in red is not recorded by Isani & Abid". However, this is the result of a typographical error at page 221 where the colour of the handstamp is incorrectly stated to be "purple". In fact, this very cover is illustrated, in colour, at page 203.

When Pakistan was created on 15/8/1947, the Amir of Bahawalpur opted for independence for his State. However, he was placed under enormous political pressure & on 3/10/1947 - only 7 weeks later - Bahawalpur was formally absorbed into Pakistan, ending one of the briefest periods of political independence on record. Again, despite Isani & Abid proving that both the machine-overprinted stamps (SG 1-17) & the handstamped issues - unlisted by Gibbons - were legitimately postally used during the Interim Period, Stanley Gibbons have resolutely refused to price them in used condition.
