He told how he was determined, although never able to before, to beat his rival in front of this girl. The first lap around the track Alan was way out front, the second lap still a commanding lead, the third lap still ahead. On the forth lap and the final cor- ner Alan looked into the stands to make sure the girl was watching him defeat his rival. With twenty-five yards remaining, as Alan was still focused on the stands, his ri- val sprinted past him and won the race. Distracted he lost the race. The writer of Hebrews say, “Therefore, since we are sur- rounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hin- ders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. 2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and per- fecter of our faith…” (12:1-2) Have you ever felt distracted from the plan God has for your life? Do you have a hard time staying focused on your life goals? What are your goals? Maybe a better question is, do you have goals? Are you run- ning your spiritual race like a runner headed toward a finish line, or are you aimlessly run- ning about with no sense of direction? These are good questions to ask ourselves in light of this phrase in Hebrews – “let us run.” The words “let us run” are taken from the Greek word trecho. It means to run. But this isn’t the picture of a casual runner or an amateur athlete. This runner is disciplined, fo- cused and striving to win! He is giving it all he’s got to reach the finish line before anyone else. He is driven by purpose, commitment, and determina- tion! I just got back from Family camp, at Lakewood Park, what a great time was had by all. The local steering committee for the YWAM Impact World Tour is hard at work planning

the community wide evangelistic outreach to be held September 18th and 19th in Jamestown.

Two incredible teams will perform at the Jamestown Civic Center. Team GX, who are talented skaters and BMX bikers and Island Breeze, which is a colorful Polynesian dance team, will share the Gospel using their unique talents.

There are still many areas in which our committee needs your help. If you would like to get involved, here is a list of some ways you can do so.

1. Join in the prayer effort every Tuesday morning at 7:30 AM at Youth for Christ’s TEEN CITY, 202 4th Ave SE. Contact Troy Gunderson at 252-5501 or [email protected]

2. Attend the Community Prayer Event at Victory Lutheran Brethren Church on Sunday June 24th at 6 PM Contact Troy Gunderson at 252-5501 or [email protected]

The Last Sunday in May we Challenged the Kids to give at least $800 this Sum-mer to BGMC. The top givers will receive a BGMC Bag. They will be encour-aged to spend their summer raising Money for missions! Some ideas to do raise money are a lemonade stand, a bake sale or even a rummage sale. They have June, July and August to raise $800 dollars. If the kids raise at least $800 dollars in three months we will have a special Pizza Party movie night just for them!! Help the kids reach their goal in the next three months. We will let you know about the different fundraisers that kids will be doing over the summer!! May this summer have purpose for all our kids while they raise money for children all over the world.
