  • D uring the summer of 2010 the band

celebrated its 25th season since re-

forming under the name The Mer-

    cersburg Area Community Band.

The band commemorated this event by commis-

sioning Gary Fagan of Charlottesville, Virginia, to write a piece of mu-

    sic specifically for the band.

    “Mercersburg – A Celebration of

People and Place” made its debut

during the summer of 2010, and

    Gary Fagan conducted the piece

    during the band’s annual perfor-

mance in the Kiwanis Band Shell

    at Chambersburg Memorial Park

    on the 4th of July.

  • The Mercersburg Area Community

Band is performing for the thirty-

second season of summer music in

2017. We are honored that you decid-

ed to join us again this summer.

If you have a favorite piece we have done sometime in the past

32 years, we would love to hear

    about it.

A combined concert with the Wayne

Band is happening again this year on

July 30th at the Jerome King Play-

    ground band shell in Greencastle.

We hope you will join us for some

stirring patriotic music and other well

    -known tunes.

T he Mercersburg Area Community Band is a musical

organization that has served Mercersburg and the sur-

    rounding communities since its inception.

Organized first as the Eagle Cornet Band, the MACB’s

purpose is to serve the various ceremonial needs of the greater

    Mercersburg Community (Adams,

    Franklin, and Fulton Counties). The

band is comprised of volunteers who

perform for the enjoyment of the music

and for the personal challenge and en-

richment that is derived from playing a

    musical instrument.

Mercersburg Area Community Band-Fred L. Wagner Scholarship

The scholarship award will be made to a member of the Mer-cersburg Area Community Band who is a consistent attendee for at least one full sum-mer practice and performance sched-ule and fulfills other requirements.

The purpose of this award is to encourage and further a local student's growth in musical skills, especially in Music Education.

Award selection will be at the discretion of the Mercersburg Area Community Band and this decision is final.
