Gospel Acclamation

Alleluia

Gospel Mattthew 16:13-20

Deacon: The Lord be with you. People: And with your spirit Deacon: A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew. People Glory to you, O Lord.

“Jesus went into the region of Caesarea Philippi and he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” They replied, “Some say John the Baptist, others Elijah, still others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter said in reply, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus said to him in reply, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father. And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” Then he strictly ordered his disciples to tell no one that he was the Christ. ”

Deacon: The Gospel of the Lord. People: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Homily

The Profession of Faith

I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Spiritual Communion Prayer

My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the most holy Sacrament.

I love You above all things and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive

You sacramentally, Come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and

unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen. Communion Song .................................................................................................................................... I Am The Bread of Life

PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS

TO PRIESTHOOD

O loving and gracious God, Father of all,

you call each of us by name and ask us to follow you. Send your grace upon those men who answer your call daily

by serving in the priesthood of Jesus Christ. Your Church is continually renewed by Your priests, who offer sacrificial lives dedicated to the Gospel.

Open the hearts of young men to hear the voice of Jesus Christ as he says, “Come, follow me.”

Inspire the men you call to priesthood to discern Your Holy Will and to follow Christ

by giving them courage to lay down their lives for their friends. May Mary, Our Mother and Mother of Priests,

intercede for these men. We humbly make this prayer

through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Redeemer. Amen.

PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS

TO RELIGIOUS LIFE

O loving and gracious God, Father of all, you call each of us by name and ask us to follow you.

Send your Grace upon those who answer your call daily by serving your Church in religious life.

Open my heart and the hearts of all to listen to your call and to discern Your Holy Will.

Inspire those you call to religious life to surrender their lives to You, and give them the gift of courage to take up the cross and follow You.

May they have the spirit of young Samuel who found fulfillment in his life when he said to you,

“Speak Lord, for your servant is listening.” Through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary,

Mother of God, humbly hear our prayer, which we make through Jesus Christ. Amen.
