Straw Poll: FLSA & Live-in Staff
Participant Report

FLSA & Live-In Staff
From 6/15-17, a straw poll was open to senior-level housing & residence life professionals
(i.e., titles including: executive director, chief housing officer, director, vice-president, vice-
chancellor, etc.) from ACUHO-I’s member services database (AMS).
The straw poll included a series of questions related to institutions’ progress towards
FLSA compliance decisions for entry-level, live-in professional staff members.

The majority of respondents from the 5,001-10,000 bed range also reported being
“somewhat,” “not very,” or “not at all” close to a final FLSA decision for entry-level staff.
Respondents from the 10,001 and above segment reported being further along in their
decision-making progress, however it should be noted that this range was significantly
smaller than the others (n=22).
