I am a formally trained research audiologist who studies vestibular and balance sciences. I earned my Ph.D. from the University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, OH in 2006, and completed a postdoctoral training fellowship at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN in 2009. I received intensive training during my postdoctoral fellowship at the Mayo Clinic under the direction of Drs. Neil T. Shepard, Jeffrey Staab, and Scott Eggers, all experts in the community of dizziness and balance disorders. I have extensive experience with a variety of vestibulo- ocular reflex (VOR), postural control including head shake posturography, and evoked potential recording techniques (i.e., vestibular evoked myogenic potentials). My research program is focused on clinical research and clinical decision analysis pertaining to patients across the lifespan with vestibular disorders. I have two distinct lines of research relating to my overarching theme of vestibular and balance sciences: 1) risk of falling assessment and prevention, and 2) vestibular and balance consequences post-head injury. PERSONAL STATEMENT I am an associate professor and director of the Dizziness and Balance Disorders Lab in the Department of Special Education and Communication Disorders at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. I am a formally trained research audiologist who studies vestibular and balance sciences. I earned my Ph.D. from the University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, OH in 2006, and completed a postdoctoral training fellowship at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN in 2009. I received intensive training during my postdoctoral fellowship at the Mayo Clinic under the direction of Drs. Neil T. Shepard, Jeffrey Staab, and Scott Eggers, all experts in the community of dizziness and balance disorders. I have extensive experience with a variety of vestibulo-ocular reflex (VOR), postural control including head shake posturography, and evoked potential recording techniques (i.e., vestibular evoked myogenic potentials).
