JUDICIAL NOMINATING COMMISSION

Minutes
A meeting of the Judicial Nominating Commission was held on August 17,2010 in opensession at 5:15 p.m., at the Department of Administration, One Capitol Hill, Second Floor
Conference Room A, Providence, Rhode Island, pursuant to the notice of the meeting to all of the
Commissioners and to the public, as required by RIGL ~45-46-Ú(c).
The following Commissioners, constituting a quorum, were present and participatedthroughout the meeting: Herbert J. Brennan, 0.0.. Chairperson, Jeffrey M. Grybowski, Norman L.Landroche, Jr., Mirlen A. Martinez Mal, Richard M. McAuliffe, Jr., D. Faye Sanders, Robert M.Silva and C. June Tow.
Commissioners absent: Dennis M. Coleman.
Also present: Eneida Diaz, Legal Assistant to the Commission.
Dr. Brennan presided over the meeting and Ms. Diai acted as recording secretary.
Dr. Brennan welcomed the audience and g~ive a briclexplanation of the manner in which the
meeting would be conducted and introduced each olthe six (Ú) candidates. He then opened the floorfor public comment and requested that everyone keep their remarks to five (5) minutes. Thefollowing persons were recognized and heard:
Associate Justice of the Superior Court, Edward C. Clifton, Retired Family Court JusticePamela Macktaz, Clifford Monteiro, Debra Cunningham, William P. Morris and Stuai1 Smith spokeon behalf of Acting Chief Judge Haiganush R. Bedrosian; Associate Justice of the Family CourtRaymond E. Shawcross and Pat Rocha spoke on behallolAssoeiate Justice Stephen J. Capineri; Ret.Co\. Rene Remillard, Victoria Almeida, Louise R. Monroe, and Dennis Langley spoke on behalf ofAssociate Justice Laureen 0' Ambra, Lia Stuhlsak and Warren Hurlbut spoke on behalf of AssociateJustice Michael B. Forte; John E. McMann, iV spoke on behalf of Associate Justice John E.McMann, II; Brother Brendan Gerrity, Trieia Martland and Peter Zandron spoke on behalf ofAssociate Justice Kathleen A. Voccola; and Frank Geremiah, Anne Grant and Faith Torres spoke outabout general Family Court issues.
Dr. Brennan then explained the voting process. The Commission members conducted thevoting on written ballots. After one round olvotiiig, the lollowing five (5) candidates received the
required number of votes and their names will be lOl-v~lrded to Governor Carcieri, in alphabeticalorder, for his consideration, along with copies ol their applications, financial information,
background investigative reports and letters of recommendation:
