What is JSPS: It is Japan’s core funding agency. It places high value on both researcher autonomy and research diversity.
What does JSPS support: From basic to applied research conducted based on the free ideas of
researchers. The entire spectrum of academic fields including the humanities, social
sciences, and natural sciences.
Application Selection: Bottom-up approach; invite applications through open calls. Competitive funding; evaluate through peer review. Fair and transparent screening; select based on academic merit.
International programs: Focus placed on mobilizing researchers. Aimed at establishing robust international cooperative networks. Travel expenses covered and international fellowships provided.

① Decide program you apply →JSPS BKK website (http://jsps-th.org) provides information in Thai. ภาษาไทย→Have questions? Send inquiry to BKK office! ([email protected])
② Find a host researcher in Japan
●Who can be your host?
→Host researcher must, in principle, be a researcher who is employed
full-time at a university or research institution in Japan.
→ In addition, host researcher for RONPAKU fellow must be a Prof. or
Assoc. Prof. who is engaged in implementing a doctoral course at the
Japanese university
③ Prepare application docs with your host researcher
→Be sensitive to Deadline
④ Submit application docs to JSPS headquarter (NOT to BKK office)
→Application must be submitted by your host researcher in Japan
