    | Project Background

    Recently the Malaysian Government

    has announced the RM50b Klang Valley Public Transport Plan o new MRT(Mass Rapid Trans-portation) line stretching rom Sungai Buloh toKajang. The proposed new line is included in the10th Malaysia Plan (RMK10) to be taken actionbetween 2011-2015. This new transportationsystem targeted to handle larger number o

    passenger compared to PUTRA, STAR and KTM

    line, it also will link the Golden Triangle within itsroute.

    In-leiu with the plan, the upcomingproject to be related to this proposal is the In-tegrated Transportation Terminal or SungaiBuloh area, having the similar unction as the

    established (ITT-BTS) Bandar Tasik Selatan Inte-grated Terminal. This ITT-Sg Buloh unctions as

    the Northern Sector terminal. All incoming pas-

    senger rom the northern area will be dispersedat this terminal where other mode o transpor-tation will be housed in the same place.

    Responding to the both plan, this pro-posal will try to integrate the existing publictransportation mode and the upcoming MRTsystem in one place somewhere in Sg. Buloh

    area. However, looking at the number o trac

    and density o potential user, the location o thenew public transportation are debateable. Thisproposal will try to locate the best location andprogram to link all the public transportation inthe vicinity o the site.

    | Theoretical Premise

    This proposal is meant to be integrated

    with the new upcoming proposed MRT line, itsalso about providing a hub or a place where di-erent mode o public transportation system be-ing handled.

    Kota Damansara seems to be the poten-tial o having an integrated terminal other thanSungai Buloh because o the distance and loca-

    tion is very strategic and close proximity to two

    existing rail line which is the Kelana Jaya line(PUTRA) and also Seremban-Rawang line (KTM).

    In other situation, the population o KotaDamansara itsel is growing rapidly and expect-ed to grow even more with the upcoming resi-dential proposal in the neighbouring area. The

    number o people move by car is very huge be-cause o the lack o public transport service sys-

    tem. Trac problems always occur during peak

    hours and weekends because Kota Damansaraexit (PLUS) is an alternative road to Mutiara Da-mansara and Bandar Utama. These congestionis because o the unavailability o ecient pub-lic transportation handling system.

    With this new proposed ITT in Kota Da-mansara, the public transportation system will

    gradually ease the problem because people will

    have more options on travelling orm the citycentre or to the city centre. Further more it alsolinked to the northern bound o Malaysia Penin-sular.

    Ministry o Transportation (MOT) are

    dedicated to develop ecient, sae and efec-tive transport systems and service towards en-hancement o multi modalism and competitive-ness. They involve in planning, ormulating andimplementing rail, maritime, ports and civil avi-ation transport policies. In this case, or previousITT-BTS, MOT is the main client while the private

    delivering partner is the KLIA Consultancy Ser-

    vices.Gamuda was given the authority or lay-

    ing the new MRT rail line as the MRT develop-ment partner. All stations and rail line will beunder the responsibility o Gamuda.

    KLIA Consult will be the team that will be

    the project leader or developing the ITT as be-ing done in previous ITT-BTS. KLIA Consult was

    choosen because the experience o handling

    multiple mode o transportation deisgn suchas the top class Kuala Lumpur International Air-port.

    This terminal is one out o three pro-posed Integrated Transportation Terminal (ITT)in Klang Valley. This terminal will unction to

    serve Southern bound express busses to avoidany trac problem caused by the busses. It

    is also another way o solving the existing Pu-

    duraya terminal.Based on BERNAMA reports, the termi-

    nal equipped with advanced eatures, includingcentralized 24-hour customer service acilities,e-ticketing counters, public inormation displaysystem, dedicated halls or arrivals and depar-tures, an executive lounge, suraus and WiFi ser-

    vice. It even has rooms or changing nappies.

    The terminal also caters or disables with direc-tional tiles, lowered counters and special toilets,elevators and ramps.

    The halls equipped with 1,800 seats andully aircond, it also provide special parking baysor women.
