55Why to be MC in AIESEC in

Belgium? And the

connection with my goals?

What are the three most important personal developments you have made

through your AIESEC experience? How has AIESEC’s learning environment

helped you develop in these

Develop, manage and lead the

execution of the project ERA

of the local committee AIESEC Pereira.

Coordinate and support the execution

of six projects based on Corporate

Social Responsibility from different

LCs of AIESEC in Colombia. .

Manage the learning environment

and logistics of the national project

ABRIENDO CAMINOS of AIESEC

in Colombia.

Held in the period 08/09 the local

project was the first successful PBOX

held in the LC in extension AIESEC

Pereira. The key success factor of the

project was the alignment with the

local reality matching the global trend

of CSR and focusing on environmental

management for Small and Medium

companies, this alignment led the

project capitalized 4 learning partners

who trained the AIESEC membership

and the Incoming and outgoing

trainees, 1 investment partner who

support the project financially in order

to have incoming trainees to develop an

environmental education model in the

city among different stakeholders. The

project reach the goal of 10 exchanges

realized (7 OGX – 3 ICX), 2 leadership

roles and a huge positioning in and

outside the organization.

As part of the National Support Team

for projects, I collaborate with the

MCVP Project 08/09 to follow up the

PBOXes based on CSR in the country. Improving the AIESEC in Colombia

external and internal positioning through media appearances in different

LCs thanks to the learning event executed.

Executed in the term from August to

December 2009, this project based on

Social Entrepreneurship and with the

Presidential Agency of the National

Government of Colombia as the main

integral partner the project allowed 30 ICX internships and 6 leadership roles.

As part of the project manager's team I lead the cultural and academic

preparation for the trainees, developing the logistic details and being

conference manager of one training week. I coordinate and support the

execution of the learning cycle of the project, coaching and training 12 people

virtually in order to deliver correctly the AIESEC learning environment based

on the trainee´s experiences. It moved forward the project from the local level

having a strong stakeholder's involvement and improving the AIESEC external

positioning at the same time around 260 people from 12 different cities were

awarded about global issues such as poverty and population displace by the

violence to fulfill and find solutions to aims the objectives of the millennium in

Colombia.

BelgiumI decided to apply for Member Committee of AIESEC in Belgium because first of all being MC is one of the

steps I have always wanted to make in AIESEC since my very beginning in the organization. I realized AIESEC

gives the opportunity to develop my personal and professional goals at the same time I impact positively a

big amount of people and I find it really passionate. I would like to take this passion to a higher level, through

inspiring my teammates and people on charge to live the real AIESEC essence.

I see the MC role as one the biggest development opportunities AIESEC can offer. In my case, it is the perfect

job to align my personal and professional goal with my backgrounds and the profile I really want to develop

in the near future. As a future mechanical engineering my academic background is based on technical

knowledge focused on the industry management, and as an AIESECer I have gained practical experiences

and skills around project management, external relations, team work and strong leadership competences.

The MC role matches both background and helps me to develop functional skills and live experiences that

will fulfill my goals. And being part of an international MC this experience will have an incredible added

value because I would have the chance to have a cultural experience and get to know the Belgium culture

and learn different languages. One of my personal goals during the term is definitely to strengthen my

negotiation skills, and I hope to reach it through a continuous AIESEC product development and the

external approaches with relevant partners for AIESEC in Belgium.

I would like to see myself in 5 year from now as a successful and integral

professional with an excellent academic and practical background.

Living in Colombia and leading my own company which offers engineering solutions

such as renewable energy, clean production and environmentally friendly waste

management for companies to have a better impact around the world. I see myself as a

competitive projects and business administrator cooperating internationally to reach my

companies goals and supporting the development of my country.

The role of MC in Belgium will strongly help me to develop practical experience and gain

skills and competencies related to the business and project management at a national

and international level. Also I will have the chance to strengthen my English and French as

well as learn basis of Dutch. This will make me a more competitive professional and will

reach my personal goal of getting to know more than two languages as I feel passion for

it.

88AIESEC is a global organization that offers to young people a life changing experience. It´s a platform that allowed us

to use top notch management tools in order to generate an amazing positive impact in the society. Through the

AIESEC experiences members and stakeholders can work together in order to explore and develop the youth

potential to create relevant changes around global issues. For over 60 years AIESEC has been spreading around the

world capitalizing important partners and linking more members who can interact with an international network to

acquire experience and struggle every day for a more understandable and cross-cultural world.

The possibility that AIESEC gives to all kind of individuals, communities, corporations to share and interact in the

society allows that "peace and fulfillment of human kind potential" to be an experience unique but for all

The most common challenge I have had to face when leading

or working with a team is LACK OF COMMITMENT of one o more

members. To overcome it I identify 3 key actions:

· Continuous Tracking and Coaching. I use effective tracking tools

because they are important to follow up the understanding among the

team members. They are also useful to keep on track each member

responsibilities or personal challenges faced.

· Alignment with personal and organizational goals. I always try to

align the member´s personal goals with the work they have to

perform, it make their job relevant and therefore there´s a better

performance.

10 1110 11What are the characteristics of a

successful team? What is the

“magic” you bring to a team?

What do you think is the present Role of

the MC and the National Board in AIESEC

in

Belgium? How do you see it evolve in the

next three years (please be concrete)?

Identify three key Belgian external trends and the potential influence/ impact on

AIESEC in

13 What type of organizational

culture would you like to see in

AIESEC in Belgium? What would

be your steps to foster it?

A successful team must have an effective communication to

keep on track the progress and setbacks. Goal setting it`s also

quite important to get the right target and design strategies to

reach it and overcome it. These characteristics are so

important to generate a better understanding between team

members and have a real synergy in it.

I consider every time I work with a team I bring with myself

many pounds of magic powder to spread enthusiasm around

my teammates thanks to the passion that is present in my

every day work and my commitment to results. I also take out

from a hut a lot of empathy and flexible thinking that allow me

to find learning opportunities for myself and my team. And

finally I always try to lead the whole processes and tasks with

a magic wand of inspirational leadership in order to print a

personal brand around the members of the team and finally

generate a positive impact through reaching the team goals.

I think the present role of the MC and the National Board

of AIESEC in Belgium consists in work towards the

impactful positioning of the organization in the country at

an external level. Besides develop new strategies based

on the member´s education and development priority.

I see this role evolve in three years into two priorities

which are quality management and leadership

development.

Quality Management: The MC and NB should improve

together tools in order to spread quality in all core

processes of AIESEC in Belgium (exchanges, projects,

events…)

Leadership Development: The MC and NB should focus

on the development of leadership competences around

AIESEC in Belgium membership, this will increase the

number of high quality and completed AIESEC

experiences.

?

?

1. Belgium faces a tension between the Dutch-and French-speaking populations that led to the division of the

nation into semi-autonomous regions that compete with one another for economic growth and investment. This

trend affects the development of national AIESEC activities and projects with investment partners but can

strengthen the regional partnerships especially with small companies that look for a faster sustainable growth and

well positioning in the country and the EU.

2. Belgium is well positioned to continue its economic growth. Its export-driven economy has created a trade

surplus that will continue for the foreseeable future. This trend impacts positively the development of partnership

with relevant companies who already have a global core and can offer a good positioning of AIESEC. In addition,

Belgium's geographic position and its infrastructure indicate that the country will continuously serve as a point of

entry for goods and services going into Europe which give the chance for AIESEC to explore new partnerships just

diversifying the organizational product.

3. The Aarhus Convention adopted in Belgium in 1998 grants three fundamental rights to the public and the

associations representing it: access to information, public participation in decision-making process and access to

justice. This trend can benefit the AIESEC in Belgium government relations, having the potential to develop projects

at a national level around Corporate Responsibility and Environmental issues.

I would like to see an organizational culture of

excellence and quality in AIESEC in Belgium. It

means the excellence and quality should be

involved in every single process or activity. From

my role I would develop tracking tools to have a

constant feedback from the members and to be

able to make process better.

Solutions

Mention and shortly elaborate on three new

ideas that you would implement to ensure that

LCs can perform better. Be concrete and show

examples on how it can be applied in Belgium.

How do you see the role of the National

Support Team(s) in 2010-2011?

Statistics show that our leaders are not taking the exchange opportunity as part of their development career. I wouldpromote more international experiences such as CEERs, DTs and short term project inside the national network inorder to deliver opportunities to live completed experiences aligned to the member's professional and personal aims.

The annual AIESEC budgets commonly is tide and there´s no enough incomes to invest in the organizationaldevelopment. As corporate relations vice president I would work to acquire supporting partners who support andencourage members to strengthen their professional and personal objectives. External involvement of the completedAIESEC experience.

Members after Leadership role don't go for exchange

Financial sustainability to invest in the development

Approaching to a Higher Local External relevance

Focusing on Projects Based on Exchanges

Reuniting LCs by Cluster

·LC visits and coach around the AIESEC product

·National Learning cycle must train the whole membership in how to sell and diversify the AIESEC

product according to the local and regional realities.

· Allow LC to have short term leadership positions

· Take advantages of the local Middle management

Unit a number of LCs which can relate in order to support each other and make it easy for the MC to

coach them and give a correct tracking, I think for AIESEC in Belgium it can reunite some LC around the

following Clusters:

·Defined market pools.

·Necessities of development, creating a Local Training Team to indentify and train the membership based

on the local committee needs (competences, leadership characteristics, sales skills, etc.)

Mixing these strategies it would allow LC to modify its local structures and way to work in order to adapt

the AIESEC experiences to the needs. The role of the NST is very important to support the MC with the

delivery of this strategy.

The NST roles are quite important to reach the

2010/2011 goals of AIESEC in Belgium. The National

Support Team is a key for the strategically support of

the MC.

The NST structure I would like to have:

· National TM Processes Team

· National ER Team

· National X Team

· National Projects Team

This role would be used as an effective communications channel among LC and MC members. It is

important that the NST counts with a good tracking tool to follow up weekly tasks and move the

results forward.

Specific Questionnaire

1818What would be your 3 preferred areas to work within the MC of AIESEC in

Belgium? What should be in your opinion the main priorities for the term

2009/2010 in those areas? What initiatives would you propose for each

one and what results would you like to see at the end of your term?

edge of our Career Events

(CRXP)?

Strengths:

·Well external Positioning

·Access to a diverse audience

·Preparation for student and graduated through

workshop and training

·Issue orientated job fairs

Weaknesses:

·Less logistic capacity

·Not professional fields orientated

·Massive Communication issues

·Carried out only in Belgium not in other

Europe Countries.

JOB DAYS Europe have a bigger logistic capacity and international positioning and there are

specialized job fairs who attract a specific working field (life science, engineering, etc). AIESEC must

make a bigger impact with its differential factor, such as Issue based recruitment, partner's

involvement and student training.

The trend of the year 2009-2010 was that companies

subscribed mainly to the fairs in big universities. How

would you make sure that smaller campuses also get

enough companies to have a decent event?

· Develop a package product to have the companies' presence in

more than one campus at the same time.

· Strengthen the communication and promotion material for

smaller campuses to make them also very attractive to the companies.

· Right and adapted sales material

· Offer added value to smaller companies (market positioning,

discount on exchanges, etc)

22 What are the major changes/ improvements made to our CR Program

over the last 2Years? How do you see it evolving in the next 3 years?

What impact can the CRXP have on the other subsystems and overall performance of AIESEC in

Belgium and vice versa? (Base your answer on each subsystem).

The CR Program is one of the strongest products of AIESEC in Belgium as it has being carried out around the

country on 12 different campuses for the past 30 years providing Belgium talent directly to important

partners. Over the last 2 years the major changes the program has had is the improvement of the job ticket

delivered in Dutch and French. The improvement of the job fairs from just a classic company presentation to

fairs based on soft skills training and relevant issues development which make the working opportunities

more attractive for students and graduated.

I see it evolving in the next 3 years as an even more diversified program, allowing more companies to access

directly not only to the Belgium talent, but also international talent eager to join this companies. The CR

program is well structure and positioned around the country but the differential factor must be strengthen

continuously in order to add value to the partner's experience providing them great young talent, improve

the students and graduated development through workshop and preparation for the work experience. It is

also very important the AIESEC presence at every event realized to take advantage of the talent contacted.

55 How do you see your timeline of the year

considering the fact that you have

tohandle ER sales together with CRXP

sales? Do you think there might be

bottlenecks in it? How would you solve

them?

Give three ideas of new products attractive to the

Belgian market. Please, elaborate the concept,

expected return and difficulties they might bring.

It might be bottlenecks especially at the

(June, July

and August). I would solve them by

·International talent for Universities

·Small companies involvement

To offer international talent of trainees form around the

world to support the development and execution of

investigation groups. The campus always has

participated with the CRXP but they also can be TN

takers. It can be difficult because this partners

have a different concept of AIESEC, so the

product have to be well adapted.
