THE EASTER TRIDUUM The summit of the Liturgical Year is the Easter Triduum-from the evening of Holy Thursday to the evening of East-er Sunday. Though chronologically three days, they are liturgically one day, unfolding for us the unity of Christ's Paschal Mystery. The single celebration of the Triduum marks the end of the Lenten season, and leads to the Mass of the Resurrec-tion of the Lord at the Easter Vigil. Therefore the Easter Triduum of the passion, death and resurrection of Christ is the culmination of the entire liturgical year. So, the Solemnity of Easter has the same kind of preeminence in the liturgical year that Sunday has in the week. From the early days of the ancient Church the Easter Vigil has been the time for adult converts to be baptized and enter the Church. Catechumens (those who have never been baptized) and candidates (those who have been bap-tized in a non-Catholic Christian denomination) are initi-ated into the Church by (respectively) baptism and confir-mation. Other candidates (baptized Catholics who have not completed their initiation) are given the Easter Sacra-ments as well. This Year at the Easter Vigil, the following will be initiated into the Church at Seton: Candidates: Victoria A. Bendetti, Kamini Devi Naterpaul-Lynch, Douglas M. Neeson, Cheryl M. Robinson, Ysabel Roman We welcome these good people into the Seton Parish Family!

TOMORROW!! RECONCILIATION MONDAY + March 26th Confessions at Seton from 3:00 PM – 9:00 PM
(The Blessed Sacrament will be exposed from 3 - 9 PM) CONFESSIONS WILL BE HEARD IN EVERY CHURCH IN THE ARCHDIOCESE OF NEW YORK AND IN THE DIOCESE OF BROOKLYN AND THE DIOCESE OF ROCKVILLE CENTER It’s a great thing to hear about God’s merciful love. It’s even better to experience it – personally. No matter how long it may have been since your last confession – weeks, years or even decades – there is no time like the start of Holy Week to know the mercy of God in the Sacrament of Penance. Seize this moment of grace. Bring a friend.
1) Examine your conscience to ascertain which sins have you have committed since your last good confession. 2) Be sincerely sorry for your sins. 3) Confess your sins to the priest. Say: “Bless me Father for I have sinned, it has been _____ since my last confes-sion. I am a single/married man/woman (with children). These are my sins…” 4) Make certain that you confess all your mortal sins and the number of times you committed each one. 5) After your confession, do the penance the priest gives to you. 6) Pray daily for the strength to avoid the occasion of sin, especially for those sins you were just absolved from. Say the Act of Contrition before going to bed every night!
O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended You, and I detest all my sins because I dread the loss of Heaven and the pains of Hell, but most of all because they offend You, my God, Who are all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of your grace, to con-fess my sins, to do penance, and to amend my life. Amen.
Easter Masses No 5:30 Vigil Mass Saturday
As we all know, Easter Masses are usually quite full, as parishion-ers, relatives, friends and guests come to be nourished at the Lord’s Table on the greatest feast of the Church year. Try to plan in advance so you can participate in the Eucharist in a com-fortable worship environment. In addition to the usual Sunday schedule of Masses, we will have two extra Family Masses at 9:30 and 11:00 in the auditorium. A “Family Mass” is a “child friendly” liturgy with a special homily in a space where the noise and movement of little ones is welcomed. Those with young children are encouraged to attend. Remember, there is no 5:30 Mass on Holy Saturday (March 31st); the Solemn Easter Vigil Mass begins at 8:00 PM. SEE PAGE 7.
Noonday Adoration Cancellation This week, noonday Eucharistic Adoration will not take place. However, there is Adoration tomorrow during Confession from 3 to 9pm. And, on Holy Thursday, following the Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper, Eucharist Adoration will be held in the Chapel until midnight. Come, let us adore Him! Noonday Ado-ration will resume on Tuesday, April 3rd.

Next Weekend No Second Collection
Seton’s Men’s Ministry All men are welcome to join us any Saturday morning in Our Lady’s Memorial Chapel from 7:00 to 8:30AM for fellowship, prayer, and to discuss that Sunday’s Gospel reading. Please see Fr. Quarato for more information.
Monthly Prayer Intentions of Pope Francis The Holy Father asks the people of the world to pray with him for the following during April: Universal: For Those who have Responsibility in Economic Matters. That economists may have the courage to reject any economy of exclusion and know how to open new paths.
It’s Time to Come Home! www.CatholicsComeHome.org
As in past years, parishioners are invited to make donations for our Church Greens, Plants and Flowers which will honor our Lord, Mary and the Saints, and decorate our church during the Easter season. Envelopes are available at the doors of the church. Please include the names (feel free to add other names on the back) of deceased loved ones. Drop the envelopes in the collection basket or at the Rectory Office. These envelopes will be placed by the Tabernacle (close to the Heart of Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament) through Pentecost.
Easter Mass Remembrance Because so many have requested loved ones to be remem-bered at our Easter Sunday Masses, we have an EASTER MASS REMEMBRANCE. Envelopes are available at the doors of the church. Please include the names (feel free to add additional names on the back) of loved ones living or deceased. Drop the envelopes in the collection basket or at the Rectory Office. These envelopes will be placed on the Altar of Sacrifice in the church on Holy Saturday Night and remain there for the Oc-tave of Easter. All the Parish Masses of Easter Sunday (in both the church and auditorium) will be offered for those enrolled (with the exception of Easter Vigil which is traditionally Pro Popu-lo, i.e. offered for all Seton Parishioners). What a wonderful Easter Gift, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass!
Easter Collection The collection taken up on the “Feast of Feasts” is very important for the upkeep of our parish. Please bear this in mind next week, and we thank you in advance for your sac-rificial Easter offering.
 1. Blessing of Easter Food: Christians of several nationalities observe this special Easter custom of bringing some of the food they will share at their Easter Sunday Dinner to Church and have the priest bless the food. We provide this blessing on Holy Saturday, at 10:00 AM, in the Auditorium. Please remember it’s a blessing of real food and not just empty baskets in which food will be placed. 2. “Paschal Fast”: while only a recommendation, the Church asks us to consider extending the Good Friday fast until Holy Saturday night (sundown). Since the Easter feast is so great, a special long fast might help our souls prepare for the spiritual joy of the Resurrection. Think about it. Try it, even if you don’t think you can last till sundown. 3. Stations of the Cross on Good Friday is at noon. We recommend individuals (or small groups) pray the Stations pri-vately when no Liturgy is in progress. In addition, the Passion Liturgy will be celebrated at 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM.
Loving God, I am just beginning to realize how much you love me. Your Son, Jesus was humble and obedient. He fulfilled your will for Him by becoming human and suffering with us. I ask you for the desire to become more humble so that my own life might also bear witness to you. I want to use the small sufferings I have in this world to give you glory. Please, Lord, guide my mind with your truth. Strengthen my life by the example of Jesus. Help me to be with Jesus in this week as He demonstrates again His total love for me. He died so that I would no longer be separated from you. Help me to feel how close you are and to live in union with you. Amen.
A Traditional Holy Thursday Devotion One of the traditions during Holy Week is a practice in which the faithful visit seven churches (a Roman custom) on Maundy Thursday to pray in front of the Blessed Sac-rament in the repository until midnight. While the rest of the world goes to sleep, Catholic pilgrims will be traveling around late into the night, keeping Jesus company on the eve of his Crucifixion.
No CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORDThe Children’s Liturgy of the Word is cancelled next Sunday due to Easter.
And the winner is . . . The winner of our March Booster Club, whose name was drawn Monday at noon by a Seton School 6th grader, is How-ard Berlinski. He won $300. Congratulations!
Jesus Wants You! Popes have emphasized Adoration of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist as a powerful means for receiving special graces. Start this Lent to make it a habit of visiting Jesus in Our Lady’s Chapel, week-days from 12 Noon till 3 PM. Jesus asks us as he did Peter in the Garden of Gethsemane: ”Can’t you watch just one hour with me?” Many of your fellow parishioners (45) have already com-mitted to 1 hour a week, will you do the same? Adorers are needed Wednesday and Thursday from 12-1PM, as well as Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 1-2PM. Adoration is simply praying to God in front of the ex-posed Blessed Sacrament bringing Him your fears, concerns, problems or simply thanking Him for all He has done in your life. Please make an effort to “watch one hour a week with Je-sus”! Call Alex on 845-526-4495 if you can make one hour or 1/2 hour a week. You will not be alone. If you can’t make it one week there will always be alternates to help.

A Note about Becoming Sponsors For Baptism and Confirmation
It is a great honor to be asked to be a sponsor for Baptism or Confirmation. The role of a “godparent” is to be an “other parent” in matters of our holy Faith. That is why sponsors must be practicing Catholics, 16 years of age or older (14 years old in the Archdiocese of New York), having received Catholic Confirmation and currently living a good Christian moral life. If the sponsor is married, that person must be in a valid Catholic Church marriage. One sponsor is required for Confirmation. It is customary to have two for Baptism, in which case one must be male and the other female. Parents may not be sponsors. A baptized non-Catholic may replace the second Baptism sponsor as a Christian witness. Non-Christians may not be Sponsors. Former Catholics may not be sponsors. A nominated sponsor is asked to get certification from his/her current parish. This is a declaration by a priest/deacon that the individual is qualified to be a sponsor according to Church Law. To be so certified, the individual must be a current parishioner of the particular parish where the certification is being sought, and be known to the priest/deacon as being a faithful practicing Cath-olic, attending Mass there weekly. Those away at college or graduate school or in the military should seek certification from their campus ministries or chaplains. Unfortunately, at times, family members or friends are cho-sen to be sponsors with good intentions, but are found to be ineligible according to Church Law. Also, more and more, people seem to think that they are still “parishioners” of their childhood parish, where they attended school or re-ceived sacraments years ago, while no longer living in the area or attending Mass there regularly. It is important for all individuals to be active members of their local Catholic faith communities. Here, at Seton, Certificates of Sponsorship are given by the pastor to registered members of the parish who are practicing Catholics, and who meet the above criteria. Please see the pastor after Mass on Saturday evening or Sunday to inquire about getting a certificate.
