Stained Glass Windows Just days before Christmas, Rohlf's Stained Glass of Mt. Vernon returned and installed the last two refurbished pan-els of the Seton windows in the church. They also complet-ed repairs to, cleaned and resealed the two LaFarge win-dows in the sacristy (from St. George’s Chapel).

 !A TIME FOR MIRACLES

A 1980 American made-for-television biographical drama film chronicling the life story of America's first native born saint, Elizabeth Ann Bayley Seton. It was produced by ABC Circle Films for the American Broadcasting Company and telecast December 21, 1980, as a Christmas special. The film was created by Beverlee Dean and directed by Michael O'Herlihy. The script was written by Henry Denker with collaboration with Sister Mary Hilaire and filmed in Georgia. A Time For Miracles starred Ryan's Hope and Star Trek: Voyager actress Kate Mulgrew as Elizabeth Seton. John Forsythe and Lorne Greene also star. 97min.

Buildings and Grounds Report The Chapel We are in the process of upgrading the heating/AC in the chapel. Since the chapel is used daily for adoration, Religious Education classes, and various group meetings, the frequent breakdown of the system has been a problem. We are in the process of replacing the current heating system (which works off of the school’s heating system) and the inefficient AC unit with a new independent heating and AC system. Also, this new system will allow for a seasonal shut down of the school boiler system and realize some energy/cost sav-ings. Sigma-Tremblay Heating & Air Conditioning is working on the project. Emergency Maintenance funds are being used. Healing Mass

Msgr. Edward Barry will celebrate a Healing Mass at Holy Rosary Church, Hawthorne, this Mon., Jan. 14th at 7:30 pm.

Join the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers (55 Ryder Road, Os-sining) this Friday, Jan. 18th at 7:30pm for a showing of Dancing at Lughnasa. Everyone is welcome and admission is free.

A Note about Becoming Sponsors For Baptism and Confirmation

It is a great honor to be asked to be a sponsor for Baptism or Confirmation. The role of a “godparent” is to be an “other parent” in matters of our holy Faith. That is why sponsors must be practicing Catholics, 16 years of age or older (14 years old in the Archdiocese of New York), having received Catholic Confirmation and currently living a good Christian moral life. If the sponsor is married, that person must be in a valid Catholic Church marriage. One sponsor is required for Confirmation. It is customary to have two for Baptism, in which case one must be male and the other female. Parents may not be sponsors. A baptized non-Catholic may replace the second Baptism sponsor as a Christian witness. Non-Christians may not be Sponsors. Former Catholics may not be sponsors. A nominated sponsor is asked to get certification from his/her current parish. This is a declaration by a priest/deacon that the individual is qualified to be a sponsor according to Church Law. To be so certified, the individual must be a current parishioner of the particular parish where the certification is being sought, and be known to the priest/deacon as being a faithful practicing Cath-olic, attending Mass there weekly. Those away at college or graduate school or in the military should seek certification from their campus ministries or chaplains. Unfortunately, at times, family members or friends are cho-sen to be sponsors with good intentions, but are found to be ineligible according to Church Law. Also, more and more, people seem to think that they are still “parishioners” of their childhood parish, where they attended school or re-ceived sacraments years ago, while no longer living in the area or attending Mass there regularly. It is important for all individuals to be active members of their local Catholic faith communities. Here, at Seton, Certificates of Sponsorship are given by the pastor to registered members of the parish who are practicing Catholics, and who meet the above criteria. Please see the pastor after Mass on Saturday evening or Sunday to inquire about getting a certificate.

Bereavement Group St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish’s Bereavement Group meets Mondays from 10-11:30am in the new Annex room A in the back of the school (use back parking lot). For more infor-mation, please call Bea Schiavo, 914-245-2742 or Mary Campo, 845-528-0775.

MAKE FRIDAYS SPECIAL Every Friday is a penitential day because it is the day that Jesus died for us. So here is a simple reminder of some Catholic things associated with Friday penance: 1. Abstain from meat. In many other countries, this is still obligatory. In some countries (USA) it may be replaced by some other penance or righteous act. Abstaining from meat is a simple witness to the passion of the Lord which does not cost us any great hardship, but is a reminder each week to us of the sacrifice of His life that Our Lord offered to the Father. 2. Say the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary. Our Lady asked us at Fatima to pray the Rosary daily. Say the five Sorrowful Mysteries and think of the sins that you have committed (not other people's sins), repent of them and resolve to avoid them in the future. Frequent Confession is always a good thing. We recommend Confession at least once a month. 3. Do the Stations of the Cross. If you do this in a Church then you can gain a plenary indulgence. If that's not possible, you could read a short ver-sion of stations on your phone. The Way of the Cross is a really excellent meditation. 4. Say the Divine Mercy Chaplet at 3pm. At 3pm, recall the death of Our Lord. Read a bit of the Passion, pray the Chaplet, or kiss the Crucifix. 5. Go to Mass or Make a Visit to the Blessed Sacrament. Going to Mass on a Friday is a really good idea because at Mass we are present at the sacrifice of Calvary, made present on our altars. We are united with Our Lady, St. John and the others at the foot of the Cross. Remember there is Eucharistic Adoration in the chapel from 12noon to 3pm every day. Also, our church is open for visits from 5:30am - 9:00pm, Monday - Friday.
