Team description WaterAid is an international non-governmental organisation. Our mission is to transform lives by improving access to safe water, hygiene and sanitation in the world's poorest communities.

We’ve achieved consistent growth, allowing us to reach more and more of these communities, and the activities of the Information Services team are becoming ever more at the forefront of enabling this mission.

The Information Technology team are responsible for the development, delivery and support of IT systems and services across WaterAid. This role will report to the IT Programmes Manager with a dotted line to the IT Systems and Management Information Manager

Job purpose Be passionate about both technology and data and be able to work to tight timescales. You will also work closely with non-technical business users to ensure reporting requirements are elicited, documented and ratified by key business stakeholders

Be responsible for requirements gathering from all areas of the business, analysing, designing, building and supporting the IT systems, to collect and manipulate the data and presenting findings as reports or dashboards.

This role will be instrumental to the success of two enterprise wide projects:

1. Expansion of the organisations adoption and use of business intelligence via expansion of our data warehouse and adoption of reports and dashboards delivered via Power BI

2. Assessment and initiation of the organisations next generation monitoring and evaluation systems which are currently not fit for purpose.

Accountabilities

• Contribute to, development and implementation of MS PowerBI applications for all core non-CRM systems, with a particular emphasis on Finance and International development.

• Contribute to, the BI system product lifecycle from creation, innovation, release through to retirement

• Develop an in depth understanding of the existing BI spaces and reporting areas. Post holder will need to build understanding of organisations core products and services to contribute to the BI corporate strategy and vision

• Work with business stakeholders to design, develop and validate Key Performance Indicators, Reports and Dashboards primarily via Power BI

• Help to achieve, BI software releases in terms of proactively planning, testing and monitoring the new version releases

• Take a lead role in gathering and translating reporting requirements for WaterAid, enabling reports that combine information from the multiple systems thus ensuring data quality of the new warehouse with business owners.

• Work with business stakeholders to determine functional and non-functional requirements and dependencies which will be used for developing the data warehouse and business intelligence model used by WaterAid.

• Work with the Data Warehouse Architect and Power BI developer to understand possibilities and benefits of a centralised data warehouse feeding reports and dashboards for business intelligence purposes.

• Partner with project manager and project team to maintain a regular programme of work designed to enhance and validate the integrity and accuracy of the data held within the systems; to promote data best practice for systems throughout the organisation

• Provide regular and bespoke reporting to systems leads and super users; and identify ways in which the data in these reports could be presented and or improved upon.

• Coordinate cross-departmental production of report packs, working with peers in Finance, Programmes, Fundraising etc.

• Where required contribute to system training, documentation and advice to staff based in UK departments, country programme offices and other WaterAid International Member offices;

• Contribute to the creation and maintenance of systems documentation.

• Develop an in depth understanding of the existing M&E spaces and reporting areas. Post holder will need to build understanding of company core products and services to contribute to the BI corporate strategy and vision

• Work with the business to elicit, document and ratify detailed requirements and red-lines

• Document and agree financial data stored within the M&E solution with cross functional stakeholders including consultation with the Data Warehouse team.

• Align M&E requirements elicitation with Finance Systems desktop review, document and present common ground used by finance and M&E solutions including challenges and frustrations of all relevant stakeholders.

• Complete comprehensive assessment of MS Dynamics, Salesforce and NGO Online allowing WaterAid to move to RFP process

• Work within an ITIL framework promoting best practice on IT service management (specifically incident & change).
