The Bellevue Family YMCA/FiftyForward J. L. Turner Center is a
partnership between the YMCA of Middle Tennessee and FiftyForward.
LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR
Dear Turner Center Members,
I am pleased to announce that Nicole Longuevan has been promoted into the Program
and Volunteer Manager position at the FiftyForward J. L. Turner Center. Nicole has been
at the Turner Center since October 2010 starting out as a temporary employee, then
being hired permanently in January 2011 as the Transportation Coordinator and most
recently working as the Program Coordinator. Nicole brings a depth of experience to this
position and her creativity, energy and enthusiasm gives her the ideal skill set for this
new role. Please join me in congratulating Nicole on her new position.
As Nicole transitions into her new role at the Turner Center, she would like to hear your
ideas for future trips, classes and programs. Nicole will be hosting a “Meet and Greet”
on Monday, July 8th at 10:30am in the Turner Center Lobby. It is from you, our
members, that we get some great ideas for the type of programming that you would like
to see at the center. Just this month, we have responded to the request of several
members and we are implementing a billiards group and taking a trip to the Johnny Cash
Museum. Please keep the great ideas coming and share them with Nicole on July 8th! If
you can’t make it on the 8th to chat with Nicole, drop your ideas in the Turner
Center Suggestion Box.
As you know the credits that have been accrued by members expire at the end of the
FiftyForward fiscal year (June 30, 2013). Moving forward, we will be instituting a new
credit policy that is more equitable for our members. Effective July 1, 2013 when a
member is issued a credit for a class or a trip, that credit will be good for 3 months from
the date of issue. For example, if a member received a $5 credit for a day trip on July 5,
2013 the credit can be used towards a future class or trip until October 5, 2013. If you
have any questions about this new policy, please see an Ambassador or Turner Center
staff member.
Also, two of our recent day trips were very popular but as a result quite a few of our
members were unable to attend due to space issues. We have decided to plan
another trip to the Nissan Plant as well as the Blue Heron Cruise this fall, so more of our
members will get to go on these great trips. Look for additional information in upcoming
newsletters.
Take care, Megan

All for a Song: Thursday, July 25 at 11:15 Songwriter Bill Rallich’s struggle and frustrations are told through Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis, Jr.’s experiences, and in turn, their stories are told through his. Set in New York’s
Tin Pan Alley in the 1960s, it is a time when rock & roll is musically coming in to fashion. The three entertainers help Bill discover himself
as they speak and sing of the loves, breaks and heartbreaks that literally made them who they were. As Bill listens and learns,
he commits himself to the standard of quality that the “rat pack” set professionally. Later, when Frank, Dean and Sammy reappear,
it surprises even Bill.
Southern Fried Nuptials: Thursday, August 29 at 11:15
Going to the chapel and they’re gonna get married. Or are they? It’s been a rough year for Attie VanLeer and Harline Frye.
Their engagement has been on and off more times than a drunk frat boy on a mechanical bull. Half the town has been excited, the dress
is fitted, the flowers have been ordered, and the gifts are piling up in the living room. So why does Harline still have cold feet?
Will they or won’t they? That is the big question in Southern Fried Nuptials, the hysterical sequel to Osborne and Eppler’s hit comedy,
Southern Fried Funeral.
