DAILY EXCELSIOR, JAMMU THURSDAY, JUNE 16, 2016 (PAGE 5) Mehbooba flags-off evening flight from Srinagar International Airport * Kashmir to get air connectivity with more cities soon Excelsior Correspondent SRINAGAR, June 15: In a significant development which would go a long way in boosting tourism and help expansion of economic activity in J&K, Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti today flagged off maiden evening flight from Srinagar International Airport. Operated by private airliner, GoAir, the flight will take off at 6.40 pm daily from Srinagar International Airport for New Delhi. Minister of State for Forest, Ecology and Environment, Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Naveen Kumar Choudhary, Secretary Tourism, Farooq Ahmad Shah, Commissioner Civil Aviation, Captain S Katoch, Chief Operating Officer, GoAir, Wolf Gang and Director Srinagar Airport, R K Shinde were present on the occasion. With the operation of regu- lar evening flight, GoAir will be operating six flights daily from Srinagar Airport includ- ing four on Srinagar-Delhi and two on Srinagar-Mumbai sec- tors. The Chief Minister was informed that 34 flights are operating from Srinagar International Airport daily from 6.00 am to 7.00 pm. He felicitated the manage- ment of the GoAir for starting evening flight from Srinagar International Airport and expressed the hope that more operators will start early morn- ing and late evening flights to and from the Airport. She urged the GoAir COO to start late afternoon flight between Srinagar and Jammu as most of the people, including Government officials, regularly travel on this sector. The Chief Minister said on the request of the State Government, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and Indian Air Force (IAF) have agreed to allow flight opera- tions from Srinagar Airport upto 10.00 pm in the night and the operators should now take advantage of this extended flight operation timing espe- cially in the summer season, when there is maximum tourist inflow to Kashmir. She said the Government is working with various airlines and the Government of India to connect Srinagar and Jammu Airports with other cities of the country through direct flights and also start international flights from Srinagar Airport. She said discussions are on with various airlines to carry fresh flowers from Srinagar to New Delhi and Mumbai to boost the floriculture sector in Kashmir. Excelsior Correspondent SRINAGAR, June 15: The J&K SRTC Workers Union took up the issue of daily rated/ con- solidated drivers' issue with the Commissioner/ Secretary Transport Department and the Managing Director of the Corporation today. Led by chairman of the J&K SRTC Workers Union Wajahat Hussain, general secre- tary Paramjeet Singh and other members, the Union members during meeting with the Secretary Transport R K Bhagat and the MD GA Sofi took up the issue of consolidated workers including drivers who have gone on strike. They stressed upon the authorities to regularize the consolidated drivers and other workers who have completed eight years in service. The Commissioner/ Secretary Transport informed that due to ensuring Assembly session, it is not possible to con- vene meeting in this regard. He said when the session is over a decision in this regard would be taken. He said that a meeting of the Board of Directors on July 4, 2016 has already been fixed and regularisation of consolidated drivers is one of the agendas in that meeting. Meanwhile, chairman of the Union Wajahat Hussain and general secretary Paramjeet Singh said that for the last two days some consolidated SRTC workers/ drivers in Jammu have gone on strike and they are being requested to report back to the duty as per assurance given by the Commissioner/ Secretary Transport Department and the Managing Director. They said in case any action is taken by the Management against the striking consolidated workers, they shall be personally responsible for it. A senior officers of the SRTC said that a meeting of the Establishment- cum- Finance Committee regarding regular- ization of consolidated drivers/ employees has been scheduled to be held on July 7 at JKSRTC headquarters MA Road Srinagar at 11 AM. The cases pertaining to consolidated driv- ers will be examined in the meeting. Some consolidated employees misguided by some elements have proceeded on strike. In case they continue to do so and ignore the appeal of the Commissioner/ Secretary and the MD SRTC, their cases will be considered for immedi- ate disengagement. She also took up some cases with the concerned departments, which could be sorted out on the spot. She said that the BJP has always been at the service of the people of Jammu and every Minister has been directed to regularly meet the people and ensure that no one is made to suffer. A large number of women had also reached the party office, who wanted to know about various welfare schemes related to them. Briefing the people about vari- ous projects of her Ministry, Priya Sethi said that the present dispen- sation is committed to ensure growth and progress of tourism industry in Jammu be it in the field of eco tourism, border tourism adventure sports or health tourism. She also shared the progress relat- ed to work of Gandola project in Jammu. Talking about Shivkhori, to be brought up as major tourist desti- nation, she said that many projects, keeping in view the topography and religious places of the area ,are in pipeline and modalities for the same will be worked upon. She reiterated that DPRs are being prepared and the case for light and sound show at Bagh-e- Bahu and Katra is being pursued. The Minister said that special packages are being developed by the department to promote golf as a sport in Jammu. Discussing Mubarak Mandi as a heritage site Priya categorically said that CM herself is chairing the committee for preservation of Mubarak Mandi and this itself is an indica- tor to show that the present Government is quiet serious in its promise to have Jammu as an attractive and all encompassing tourist site. President reiterates India’s commitment to Africa Excelsior Correspondent ABIDJAN (CÔTE DIVOIRE), June 15: The first ever visit by any President of India to Abidjan City of Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast) underlining the importance that India attaches to each of the countries in African continent,was marked by President Pranab Mukherjee's address at the bilateral delegation level talks between two countries ,where he reiterated India's com- mitment to Africa and called for increase in economic engagement between the two countries. The Indian Delegation consist- ed of Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh, two Members of Parliament and senior officers of the Ministry of External Affairs while the other side was led by President Alassane Ouattara and senior Ministers of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire. The hallmark of the meeting was signing of an MoU to facilitate opening of Exim Bank Office at Côte d'Ivoire to promote trade, business and investment between the two countries. President Mukherjee called for reinforcement of regional coopera- tion and providing financial sup- port at concessional rates through Exim Bank. He also recalled that during third Indo-African Summit held in New Delhi in October 2015, Government of India had committed USD 10 billion support to Africa. Govt identifies 16 places for wheat, paddy mandies Excelsior Correspondent SRINAGAR, June 15: Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Zulfkar Ali today said the Government indentified 16 places in Jammu for establishment of mandies for wheat and paddy procure- ment after due consultation with various legislators and stake holders. In a review meeting attend- ed by MLAs of Marh and Bishnah for establishing of mandies, the Minister instructed that the mandies should be established at Channu Chak, Gajansoo, Parladpur, Pargwal, Jourian, Bishnah, R S Pura, Ramgarh, Sanji Morh, Nagri Parole, Bajwal, Bishnoh, Sherpur, Arina, Vijaypur, and Marh. Urging Food Corporation of India (FCI) to ensure that the mandies are established well in time, the Minister asked FCI to establish the mandies by October 7, 2016. He also instructed Agriculture Production Department to provide all the logistic and infrastructural sup- port to FCI in the procurement process by October 1, 2016. The Minister said that wel- fare of farmers is the top priori- ty of Government and every effort would be made to ensure that they get due for their hard work. He stressed on FCI that farmers should not suffer and should be provided with "Reasonable Minimum Support Price." Addressing a press confer- ence, Choudhary Vikram Randhawa , a leader of JKSCOA, along with others office bearers, said a joint delegation of the Association from both provinces (Jammu as well as Kashmir) recently met House Committee constituted by the Speaker, J&K Legislative Assembly, to review the implementation of controver- sial SRO 105, in Srinagar. He said that the committee headed by its chairman, Mohd Akbar Lone, held a threadbare discussion with the delegation, which apprised the House Committee to put forth the pros and cons following the imple- mentation of SRO 105. "During deliberation, the del- egation apprised the committee about the ill effects of the SRO on Stone Crusher Industry, which is related with the construction and development of the nation. It said that not only the Stone Crusher Industry but the public in general will also suffer a lot if SRO 105 is not revoked", he told media per- sons. Ch Vikram said that during the deliberation, the delegation urged upon the House Committee to put forth the report before the House keeping into consideration the survival of the Stone Crusher Industry in J&K and stressed for complete exemption of royalty by contractors from unit holders. He said that the department of Geology and Mining should directly charge from stone crush- er unit holders. JKSCOA leaders during a press conference at Jammu. -Excelsior/Rakesh Searches on IB in Hiranagar sector Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, June 15: BSF and police today conducted massive search operations along Manyari Post in Hiranagar sector of Kathua district along the International Border (IB) after some suspicious movement was recorded in the surveillance camera last night. Official sources said BSF, police and Village Defence Committees conducted massive searches in the area leading to National Highway from Manyari along the IB after some move- ment was noticed on Pakistan side of the border last night, which was also recorded on one of the surveillance cameras. However, sources said, there was no infiltration from the IB and searches were conducted as precautionary measure. The search operations were called off this evening as there was no trace of any kind of intrusions on the Indian side, they added. Senior officers of police also joined the search operation.

JAMMU, June 15: BSF and police today conducted massivesearch operations along Manyari Post in Hiranagar sector of Kathuadistrict along the International Border (IB) after some suspiciousmovement was recorded in the surveillance camera last night.
