(III) SUMMARY OF PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND/OR EXPERTISE

Over the past 25 years I have gained a wide range of expertise in all areas in the mine action industry, Police and Military;

Demining: During the past twelve (12) years I have worked exclusively within the humanitarian and commercial field in the

mine action field. I have worked in South Sudan, Myanmar, Libya, Somalia, Congo, Vietnam, Taiwan, Kinmen and others. The

various posts I have held have always been in senior management such as the Country Programme Director, Country

Programme Manager, Operations Manager or Technical Advisor. I have extensive knowledge and experience in the strategic

business, management and operational side of both the humanitarian industry and commercial mine action industry. I also

have a thorough knowledge and experience of the IMAS and I am certified at EOD 111 IMAS Level. I have covered all five pillars

of mine action extensively. I have been responsible for establishing mine action programmes in Myanmar, Somali and Vietnam.

I have recently worked in Libya on emergency EOD operations, in 2012 established DDG mine action operations in Myanmar

and strengthening mine action operations in South Sudan in 2013.

PSSM: I have over the past 10 years acted in an advisory, consultancy role in PSSM in various countries such as South Sudan,

Libya, Vietnam, Taiwan and Kinmen Island. In this regards I have focused on policy development, project proposals and project

management for PSSM.

Strategic & Business Planning : A primary responsibility of all Posts held over the past 25 years has been that of preparing and

submitting country specific strategic and business plans in accordance with the organization’s strategic direction and business

plan as directed and approved by the respective Board of Directors. Ensure that risk assessment is carried out in the planning

and implementation of all activities. Ensure that all activities are regularly monitored and evaluated and that lessons learned

are incorporated into future planning and implementation.

Human Resources: I have completed my Bachelor Social Science degree and BA Honours degree specializing in Industrial

Psychology with a focus on the management of human, physical and financial resources. As Head of Management Services of

the Umfolozi Policing Area I had as one of my responsibilities the management of the organizational structures ensuring

organizational efficiency, ensuring the effective management of the Transformation Process of the Police Service of Umfolozi

and was responsible for implementing and coordinating the service delivery improvement program of the Police. The Umfolozi

Police area was comprised of approximately 25 Police Stations and 17 Specialized Units staffed by over 3000 police personnel.

Procurement & Logistics: During the past 25 years I have gained extensive experience of the procurement and logistics

processes that was always part of my responsibilities and duties irrespective of the industry I was in. In this regards I was

directly involved in some form, in the development and maintenance of sound asset management and inventory control

systems, the reviewing of procurement requests and the process, the delivery and custom clearance of procurement orders,

Warehouse operations of storage, utilization and the management of the receipting, issuing, acquisition and inspection of

incoming equipment and supplies.

Finance: Throughout my career in the various management positions I held it was an integral part of my responsibilities to

provide effective, efficient and economic financial management related to the post I held at any particular time.. In my career in

the mine action demining industry I have also had to be responsible for all project financial budgeting, reporting and

management.

Security: As a former Colonel and operative in both the Military and Police I have gained both management and operational

Achievement : - A noteworthy achievement is that in the year 2001 the Umfolozi area was awarded the

National Commissioners awards as the most improved service delivery to the community.
