Howdy! Welcome to J-Camp!I’m Lisa Guerrero and I am very excited to begin my 9th summer as J-Camp Di-rector. If you are new to the program, we’d like to give you a big Texas SHA-LOM Y’ALL and thank you for choosing the JCC as your Summer Camp destina-tion! Those who are returning, we’re so glad you’re back and can’t wait to catch up with you and create new memories this summer.

We have been preparing all year long to make this the best summer ever. Our administrative staff and team of excel-lent counselors are dedicated to mak-ing this happen. Parents, you should know that my door is always open to answer your questions and listen to concerns, ideas and compliments (we love those)! J-Camp PhilosophyAll JCC camps feature a child-centered program focusing on the individual needs of each camper and the collective interests of each camp group. Our goal is to help each camper develop new skills and a greater appreciation of his or her ca-pabilities. JCC Members receive the Member-Only Early Bird Discount and priority registration to en-sure their children’s spot before camps fill up. REGISTRATION GUIDELINESCamps listed in this document are for children entering grades K-10. The JCC’s Early Child-hood Department offers full-time and part-time programming for children 6 weeks to 5 years of age. Call 210-302-6846 or visit www.jccsanantonio.org/ECD for more information.

PARENT MANUAL: The summer camp parent manual is available at www.jccsanantonio.org/camp or in the Camp Office. It includes im-portant information including policies, proce-dures, kosher-style lunch suggestions, clothing requirements and program specifics. DID YOU KNOW? The Parent Manual can address al-most any question you may have. From what to bring, to swimming, to health issues and more, the manual has the answer to all your ques-tions! MEMBER PRIORITY REGISTRATION: JCC Members receive priority registration through March. In order to ensure enrollment for your camper(s) and to receive Early Bird Discounts, JCC Mem-bers are strongly encouraged to register be-fore March 27, 2015. Applications received after March 27 will be accepted on a space available basis and will not be eligible for the discount. Space in select camps is limited. Many camps fill to capacity; however, some camps may be cancelled due to low enrollment. Registrations will be accepted as long as there are no outstanding balances on your JCC ac-count. All payments will first be applied to any outstanding balances prior to applying pay-ments to camp. EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT: JCC Members receiveEarly Bird rates as long as they complete theregistration process and pay appropriate amounts by March 27. Changes received after March 27 will be charged at the regular camp rate plus a $40 change fee.

NON-MEMBER REGISTRATION: Camp enroll-ment opens to the community on April 1. Pay-ment in full is required at time of registration for Non-Members.

HOW TO REGISTER: Register for summer camp programs online at www.jccsanantonio.org/camp or register using the paper form in per-son, by mail or fax at 210-408-2341. The regis-tration form must be completed in full and re-turned with appropriate deposit or paid in full. Please print all information neatly and fully complete all blanks. If you have questions, contact the Camp Office at 210-302-6859. DID YOU KNOW? The $30 registration fee is waived

when you register online? Plus our new online registration system is more user-friendly pro-viding a secure, real-time registration experi-ence.

REGISTRATION & FEES: *$75 of each campers’ fees is non-refundable. • Online registration: Those who register on-line receive the best rates! All transactions online must be paid in full at the time of reg-istration. • Paper registration: Members who register via paper registration form have the option of pay-ing for camp in installments or in full. The fol-lowing payment option plan is also available and is only available via the paper registra-tion form: 3-Installment Payment Plan - equal payments due May 1, June 1 and July 1. Install-ments must be paid via credit card or EFT only (cash/checks not accepted for installment payments). There will be a $30 registration fee added for those who register on paper.

• Drops & Changes: After registration has been submitted, a fee of $40/camper will be charged for camps that are changed and/or dropped. • Non-Members: Payment must be made in full at the time of registration for paper or online registrations. MEDICAL FORMS: The American Camp Asso-ciation and the State of Texas require that all campers must have an up-to-date medical form on file before starting any camp. J-Camp requires these forms to be turned in by May 15, 2015. You may download a medical form from www.jccsanantonio.org/camp or pick one up in the Camp Office. Campers will not be permit-ted to participate until the form is completed, signed and turned into the Camp Office.

DROPS & TRANSFERS: To drop or change camp options, parents must complete, sign and hand-deliver, email, mail or fax the Drop/Transfer form to the Camp Office. You may re-quest the Drop/Transfer form from the Camp Office or download it from www.jccsananto-nio.org/camp. Verbal requests in person or over the phone will not be accepted. DID YOU KNOW? The Barshop JCC provides camp for

IMPORTANT NOTE!Each Drop or Transfer will be assessed a $40 change fee per child. In addition, if transfer-ring to an alternate camp after March 27, 2015, the rate paid for the original camp will be credited and the regular member rate will be charged for the alternate camp selected along with a $40 change fee (the Early Bird Discount will not apply). REFUND POLICY: $75 per child is non-refund-able; refunds (less $40 change fee) will only be given when notice of cancellation is provided in writing as follows: before May 15 for all camp weeks 1-6 or before June 15 for all camp weeks 7-12. After the above dates, there will be no refunds. LATE REGISTRATION: A Fee of $40 will be added to registrations received within 1 business day prior to camp start date.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Limited financial as-sistance is available for JCC Member families who qualify. Members are responsible for ini-tiating the process, requesting and complet-ing the appropriate application. Requests are confidential and must be substantiated by approved documentation and a confidential interview. Applications must be submitted no later than March 24 and must be accompanied by a completed camp registration form. For more details, contact Lauren Ross at 210-302-6865. Funds will be distributed based on avail-ability, need and on a first-come, first-served basis. DID YOU KNOW? If you are registering online and have the desire to help families in need, there’s an opportunity to make a dona-tion to the Kay Klein Camp Fund which helps make these funds available. Any amount you wish – it’s up to you!SPECIAL NEEDS INCLUSION PROGRAM: Our In-clusion Program is designed to include children with special needs into our summer day-camp setting. Our program attempts to include as many campers with special needs as we can, however, spaces are limited and families must apply. Applications must be received no later than March 24 and must be accompanied by a camp registration form. For more information, call Lisa Guerrero at 210-302-6959.

CAMP HOURS: Full-day camps run from 9am to 3:30pm; Monday through Friday. See below for extended care hours. PICK-UP & DROP-OFF: To ensure a safe and se-cure camp setting, parents or a parent desig-nee (adults over 16 only) of campers in Grades K-4 are required to walk kids in and out of camp and must sign in/out their children each day. DID YOU KNOW? J-Camp is the only camp that will transfer your child to their after camp enrichment classes on the campus and bring them back to their late stay program saving your family valuable time. Look for enrichment classes in the JCC monthly Center Peace news-letter. EXTENDED CARE SERVICES K-4: Campers enter-ing Grades K-4 who arrive before 9am or stay past 3:30pm are required to enroll in Early Stay (7-9am) and/or Late Stay (3:30-6pm) for an ad-ditional fee. EXTENDED CARE GRADES 5-10: JCC Member campers entering Grades 5-10 who arrive after 7:30am or stay after 3:30 (up to 6pm) are wel-come to utilize the JCC Youth Lounge at no ad-ditional charge. For non-member youth lounge rates, please call the Camp Office. In order to maintain this privilege, campers are required to sign and comply with the Code of Conduct Contract and sign themselves in and out both in the morning and afternoon. FOOD: Each camper must bring a kosher-style lunch each day – see the Parent Manual for kosher-style lunch suggestions. Kosher snacks are provided by the JCC. Campers are not per-mitted to purchase food from vending ma-chines during the camp day. Lunches are kept in a cool, dry location but are NOT refrigerated. Parents are encouraged to send additional snacks for their child.

CAMP WITH FRIENDS: Part of the fun of summer camp is making new friends; however, if your child has a friend they would like to be placed with in camp, please note the friend’s name on the registration form. Where space and age requirements permit, we will do our best to ac-commodate mutual requests.

CAMP T-SHIRTS: All campers will receive a com-memorative camp T-shirt. Please indicate size on the registration form.

Host an Israeli ShaliachShlichim are college-aged youth who enhance our summer camp program by building a bridge between American youth and Israeli culture. These talented young adults go through an intensive screening and training process in Israel in preparation for spending the summer working in the U.S. Families are needed to host the two Shlichim who will be working in our program. Hosts are asked to accommodate one or both individuals for two or three weeks, providing them with a welcoming family and friendly environment. It is an incred-ible opportunity for families, especially those with children in our camp. Think of it as bringing Israel to your family! If you are interested in being a Shaliach host family, please call the Camp Office at210-302-6859 today! DID YOU KNOW? JCC MembershipWhile JCC membership is not required to enroll kids into our summer camp pro-grams, being a JCC Member allows you to register early and save money with the Early Bird Discount while enjoying all the benefits of membership, including ac-cess to our full-service fitness and aquatics facilities and services all year long! All Camp Family Night Showcase ExtravaganzasJoin us for the Camp Family Night on July 9 at 6pm, for first session and on August 6 at 6pm, for second session. Shows will feature each camp and their counselors who will present their unique talents. Families are invited to sing and dance along, and of course, bring the video cameras. This will be a night you won’t want to miss. DID YOU KNOW? We have changed the format for fam-ily night this year to spend more time with your camper’s group. It will be lots of fun and you won’t want to miss it!

Pre-Camp

Week 1 • June 1-5 Soaring into Summer (Entering K-6)A special camp designed for children who are moving up from pre-k and kindergarten or attend private schools. Young children will learn about J-Camp and what to expect over the course of the summer in a friendly and developmentally appropriate manner. A JCC early childhood professional will be involved in this camp to help make it an easy transition for JCC ECD. Older campers will be in a separate group and will enjoy a jump start to their summer. All campers will enjoy arts, games, sports, and much more! Swimming or water play on select days will be included.

Week 2 • June 8-12

LEGO Maniacs (Entering K–2)Your imagination and creativity will blast off as we introduce NEW motorized mod-el builds for this engaging theme. Ignite your imagination as we explore and cre-ate. Themed games and challenges and creative building stations add to the fun! A JCC early childhood professional will be involved in this camp to help make it an easy transition for JCC ECD students. Summer Fun (Entering 2-5) This camp is designed to give campers a chance to explore J-Camp and all that it has to offer including sports, arts, nature, gym, swimming, cooking, playground time and more. Campers will play games indoors and out, create masterpieces and spend some relaxing time at the J. Sports Palooza (Entering 2-8)Participate in a variety of sports this week trying out games from around the world as well as our Texan favorites: soccer, basketball, and much more. This camp is definitely not intended for couch pota-toes. Swimming every day and other fun activities will add to the fun kicking off the summer with a ball.

H2Oasis Swim Camp (Entering 2-6; must be able to swim 25 meters without assistance)Campers will learn the basic techniques of freestyle, backstroke, breast stroke, and butterfly. Fun games, relay races, and more, including the annual run/swim du-athlon will round out the week. Camp will be led by the JCC Aquatics Staff. Campers need to bring bathing suits, towel, sun-screen, flip flops, tennis shoes, socks and swim shirts every day. Be sure to mark the camper’s name on these items. Tennis Pre-Camp (Entering 2-8)Jump into summer swinging a racquet and making Aces! This one-week camp includes instruction, drills, games and matches. Bring your swimsuit and towel for some much needed cool-off time in the pool each day.

Each session will feature two overnights: one at the JCC and one overnight trip to a nearby State Park. Campers will hike, camp, make s’mores, and tell stories around the campfire. Trained camp staff will ensure a safe ex-perience. On non-camping weeks, camp-ers will spend two days each week travel-ing around San Antonio on exciting field trips. DID YOU KNOW? Campers will be staying at Bastrop State Park each ses-sion in cool bunk houses for swimming, hikes, and more! Performing Arts Camp (Entering 3-8)Offered Session 1 Only! June 15-July 10 Join us for some theatre excitement as we stage the best production of How to Eat Like a Child to ever be seen in Texas! Campers will learn acting skills, stage in-struction, set building, costuming, move-ment and vocal techniques. Techniques learned will enhance your child’s future theatre, music or dance experiences. Be a part of a JCC camp tradition producing a hit show for family and friends and par-ticipate in all traditional camp activities listed above. Performances: Thurs., July 9 and Fri., July 10. Academies with insufficient enrollment may be cancelled and a different option selected.Exploration & Discovery Academies are designed to introduce ideas, reinforce skills, provide new experiences, and provide overall enrichment opportunities. Each week campers explore different themes and programs with the opportunity to work with local professionals and/or certified teachers. Campers will discover their own abili-ties and build new strengths in a supportive environment. They will also participate in limited All-Camp activities such as Wacky Wednesday, Kabbalat Shabbat, or camp specialist times. JV and Varsity Sports: Sports intensive camps are perfect for the athlete in your family. Campers will focus on a different sport each week providing an individualized summer camp experience that meets his/her interests. Lead by JCC coaches and fitness staff, campers will spend each day building skills and taking part in competition. Campers will enjoy free swim, opening ceremonies and Kabbalat Shabbat each week. Groups will be divided by grades to compete in small-sided games. DID YOU KNOW? Coach Randy was an All American Soccer Player in 1991 and has played or coached at the lo-cal, state, national, and international levels. Tennis Academy: Come learn the basics and enhance your skills in this friendly yet competitive tennis camp. Skills, drills and lots of instruction are part of the daily fun. Join our award-winning staff as they help you take your game to the next level devel-oping skills that make the difference in winning matches. Campers will also enjoy free swim, opening ceremonies, and Kabbalat Shabbat each week. DID YOU KNOW? Navigator camp allows teens to choose the weeks they want to attend. They will engage in fun outings to various in-town venues and attractions for challenging adventures. Navigators will also spend time at the pool, gym, and other areas of the JCC and will also assist with the J-Camp newsletter and participate in community service projects.

Travel weeks are Week 6, July 6-10 & Week 9, July 27-31 (subject to change)Campers will travel to Bastrop State Park and stay Tuesday-Thursday in cool bunk houses and enjoy swimming, hikes, and more! Campers will also participate in day trips to nearby Austin. Monday and Friday will be spent at the JCC or on field trips.

(Non-Members $200)A leadership program for teens which requires a two-week commitment. • CITs will work closely with counselors and specialists to learn what it takes to be a high-quality camp staff member. • CITs will learn leadership skills, including tools for working with children.To become a CIT, complete an application (available at the Camp Offices, online, or contact Dylan Ashworth at 210-302-6869). Interviews will be scheduled after registration form is received. Space is limited/placement not guaranteed. Fee includes a trip to Fiesta Texas, a camp t-shirt and a small stipend for perfect attendance/consistent high-quality performance. Preference for Junior Counselor positions in camp is given to those who successfully complete the Camp CIT program. DID YOU KNOW? Most of our CITs become counselors.

LEGO Classic Arcade Adventures (Entering K-1)Join the professionals from Bricks for Kids for a special Classic Arcade Bricks Adventures! Jump into the world of classic Arcade and Video Games! Eat flashing dots, collect golden coins and rings and avoid getting defeated by your enemies. Campers will build the famous plumber brothers, a Bricks Eat-er, a jumping Hedgehog, alien invad-ers, and more! Based on classic video games. Children will also enjoy arts, sports, swimming, and much more! Kickin’ It Soccer Style (Entering 2-8)Grab your cleats, it’s time for soccer! In this camp you will receive soccer in-struction, build skills, and participate in indoor/outdoor soccer competition. Campers will be divided by age and ex-perience. This creative, player develop-ment soccer program is brought to you by Coach Randy! Don’t miss the chance to part of a camp that is jam-packed with fun and games, free swim and lots of time to spend with your buddies.

DIY Arts and Crafts Pinterest Style (Entering 3-8)Love the classics!! Join us for a Summer Camp based on classic crafts and ac-tivities for boys and girls. Create glow in the dark projects, tie-dye, candle making, paper-mache and more. Learn about the world of Pinterest and dis-cover your creative side. Swimming and other activities will round out this cre-ative camp.

Cheer Camp (Entering 1-6)2 Bits, 4 Bits, 6 Bits, a dollar – all for Cheer Camp, Sign up and Holler! Join our cheerleading Camp! Learn cool dances, fun cheers, chants, jumps and basic cheerleading movement techniques. Campers will also participate in Yoga and H2O aerobics as well as arts & craft projects and journal writing. Campers will leave this camp with new friends and the self-esteem to have the best school year ever. Opportunities for free swim and more will also be part of this jumping week. You are guaranteed to have a blast cheering and dancing the week away! Campers will be grouped by age for parts of the day. Tennis Time 1 (Entering 2-8)Wrap up your summer with Tennis Time. Campers will build skills and compete in tennis matches and games. Swim-ming and other fun activities will help end the summer with an ace. This camp is grouped by age and ability.

Last Blast (Entering K-2)Children will love acting like their fa-vorite animals and exploring the wild side of nature. Games, arts, swimming, sports and more will be geared around animals. Children will try new sports, participate in cooking activities take a nature hike and prepare for their new school year. Campers will enjoy free swim and cool scavenger hunts. Karate Fun! (Entering 1-5)Come explore the world of martial arts. Campers will enjoy learning from the professionals at Victory Martial Arts. This camp will encourage personal growth, promote behavior improve-ments, teach responsibility and awaken the champion in your child. This camp is grouped by age and ability. Campers and staff will depart the JCC at 9:15am and return at noon each day for after-noon swim and activities at the JCC.

Boerne Gymnastics Super Fun Camp! (Entering 1-6)Experience tumbling and gymnastics events, including balance beams, tram-polines, and high bars. They will try acrobatics and a variety of circus arts-from trapeze to juggling. We will top off the camp with indoor climbing and arts and craft activities. Campers will be grouped by age and ability. Campers & staff will depart the JCC at 9:15am and return at 3pm each day.

Tennis Time 2 (Entering 2-8)Spend the final week of summer play-ing tennis with us! Campers will build skills and compete in tennis matches, enjoy swimming and other fun games both on and off the court. Practice those strokes and learn new ones. Go back to school fit and ready to play.
