Overview

This interactive workshop covers the legal requirements and responsibilities to carry and secure loads on a vehicle.

Drivers will gain a thorough understanding of safe vehicle loads, the consequences of an insecure load, the people responsible for a load in transit and the role of enforcement agencies.

Risk is mitigated by enabling drivers to think about the principles of loading, knowing how to competently use restraint equipment and adopting safe methods of securing vehicle loads.

At the end of the workshop, drivers will be able to:

Explain the forces that build around a moving vehicle and the ways they can act upon a load during normal and emergency driving situations

Know the importance of adequate load security measures to create 'down force' and the potential outcomes of a load shift or loss

Acknowledge the need to use the correct, undamaged securing equipment and the consequences of non-compliance

Explain who is responsible in law for a load on a vehicle, penalties and the legal consequences to both driver and operator

Who should attend?

This CPC course is JAUPT-approved for all professional drivers undertaking 35 hours of periodic training.

Anybody who is required to complete their Driver CPC hours, loading/unloading operatives or those responsible for raising and maintaining health and safety standards across a team of professional drivers.
