FROM THE OGLE OFFICE

Dear friends, We thank those who donated the 37 pints of blood that were collected last Sunday in our Annual Blood Drive. Every pint donated helps three other people. That means we helped 101 people (not Dalmatians!) We exceeded last year’s total of 35 pints, so I hope next year we can climb up to at least 39 (pints that is, not Steps). My thanks to Winnie Burke for once again coordinating with the NY Blood Center for us, and to Nelly Gutierrez, our Religious Ed coordinator and the four members of the Confirmation class who did service hours for the drive. You may notice a new feature in our weekly bulletin entitled the “Vocation Station”. In that section we’ll be posting up-coming events for discerning a religious vocation for young people of all ages, from middle school on into adulthood. Most are diocesan programs run by our very own Father Sean Suckiel, now the diocesan vocation director. Others are programs of various religious orders in our area. The truth is that God can call someone to ordination or the religious life at almost any stage of life, and we need to be open to that possibility, as “counter-cultural” as that may seem in our so-called “post-truth” times. You will also notice that our lovely Christmas decorations have begun to disappear, although we’ve left some poinsetti-as around that are still looking fresh. Thanks to Father Peter for the many hours he has spent decorating and “un-decorating” the upper and lower church and the rectory, to Fr Joe and the decorators at St Margaret Mary and to Sergio for the display in front of the rectory. Our parish is blessed to have such a generous staff and volunteers. We also have removed the posters from the Holy Year of Mercy and the Dosqui-Centennial 175th Anniversary. Those landmark expe-riences are more permanently memorialized in the west vestibule with two distinguished bronze plaques. Finally, we all join in prayers for the newly-elected, re-

elected and appointed officials of our national, state and

local governments, that they may always serve generously

and selflessly the needs of the community as we strive to be

truly “one Nation, under God.”

God love you,

Msgr. Sean G. Ogle

Sean G. Ogle

PRAYER OF THE WEEK Prayer to End Abortion Lord God, I thank you today for the gift of my life, And for the lives of all my brothers and sisters. Today I commit myself Never to be silent, Never to be passive, Never to be forgetful of the unborn. I commit myself to be active in the pro-life movement, And never to stop defending life Until all my brothers and sisters are protected, And our nation once again becomes A nation with liberty and justice Not just for some, but for all, Through Christ our Lord.
