Eucharistic Adoration Ministry of Sault Ste. Marie Adoration Chapel

Located at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church The Roman Catholic community of the City of Sault Ste. Marie is privileged to have an Adoration Chapel

where Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is present at all times. This Chapel is located in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church at 114 MacDonald Avenue.

We are running into difficulties where a lot of the Adorers are getting to an age where they are unable to attend the Chapel due to sickness or lack of transportation.

The Chapel is open from 6:00 a.m. until Midnight.

Anyone can drop in for a visit during that time; however, we do need adorers committed to a weekly visit for an hour.

We urgently require an Adorer for the hours of: Sunday 6:00pm--7:00pm;

Tuesday 8:00am — 9:00am Saturday 6:00pm —7:00pm

Please call one of the following co-ordinators of the Chapel if you would like to come to the Chapel to experience the peace and tranquility of spending one hour weekly with Jesus:

Susanne Quinn-Perron 450-7732; Angela Rasaiah 949-2208; and Raffaela Medaglia 206-3968.

Friendship Meals We need a

on June 19th of this year. The cost will be covered by the PARISH;

and we are asking for a group of people to prepare & serve the meal. If you can help, please contact us at

the parish office.

WINTER WOOLIES PROJECT….

Over the past many years, people have donated yarn to the church for knitters; and in return knitters in the parish would make hats, mitts, sweaters, scarves etc for those in need for the missions in the North. This project was under the hospice of PJPII Ministry and now that they have decided to disband, we need to make some decisions on how to proceed. We have a couple of choices 1) If you would like to help this project continue and help organize it, please contact Fr. Paul; or 2) we can cancel this project and those knitters who have made items can give them to a local agency (Soup Kitchen, Vincent Place, Pregnancy Centre etc). Items dropped off at the church would be sent to local charities.

At present we have both yarn & knitted items being held in the parish office waiting for a decision. We do hope this Ministry Project will be adopted by someone or a group in the parish and will continue to be of value to the less fortunate. Please contact us today! 705-942-8546 (latest development, we have several people inquiring; so if you are interested in helping, please let us know).

Living Lent with MERCY

The Liturgy Committee has requested that we, as a parish, help make this “Year of Mercy” more meaningful during Lent by praying for each other. "Faith finds expression in concrete everyday actions meant to help our neighbors in body and spirit," Pope Francis said in his message for Lent, which begins Feb. 10 for Latin-rite Catholics. Particularly during the Year of Mercy, he said, Catholics are called to recognize their own need for God's mercy, the greatness of God's love seen

in the death and resurrection of Christ and the obligation to assist others by communicating God's love and mercy through words and deeds. "In the corporal works of mercy we touch the flesh of Christ in our brothers and sisters who need to be fed, clothed, sheltered, visited," he wrote. "In the spiritual works of mercy -- counsel, instruction, forgiveness, admonishment and prayer -- we touch more directly our own sinfulness." In the Christian life, Pope Francis said, "the corporal and spiritual works of mercy must never be separated. Next weekend each person will be asked to write on a paper cross. You will be asked to write what you need for yourself during this Jubilee year of Mercy. You are not to put any names on the crosses. The following weekend (the first Sunday of Lent) you will draw a cross from the baskets provided and pray for that person during the season of Lent. You are asked to return the crosses on or before Palm Sunday. They will be used during the Good Friday services. Praying for one another helps to build up a community of faith.

Here are some examples that you could use: • Lord, guide me in a loving way to instruct my children of loving you, neighbor and self • I promise to meet the poor with kindness of heart • I will reflect on the scriptures each day • I will assist the struggling mother with her children at mass or in the store • I will call my family member or friend that I have lost contact with due to unkindness or

distance • Lord move my heart from “deserving mercy” to “granting it” • Lord, let me not focus on my physical healing but on being “healed” • Lord, help me to be more “forgiving”, I struggle with forgiveness.
