The Jain International Residential School website www.jirs.ac.in has further information on student activities, videos, list of ongoing events and what's making news in top publications. You'll also find out more about the city of Bangalore, location map and ways to reach us.
Jain International Residential School is a truly international
school, where our faculty and the wider school community
proudly reflect the shared vision, commitment, and energy
necessary to ensure the educational success of every
student. Hence we discover real treasures without a map &
we know that we are better off without one.
We believe that each of our students is a unique individual with equal potential to make a positive contribution to our school and society. We aim to provide the direction, counsel, and support that each student needs to reach his/her full potential. While we have established high standards for academic achievement and performance, our educational programme has been created with an emphasis on the development of the whole person.
The curriculum at JIRS is designed to support a developmental, student-centered approach, where teaching for understanding is coupled with a stimulating and varied curriculum. Frequent positive and constructive feedback to students characterizes our learning environment. This is an essential ingredient for a programme that seeks to nurture in every student a love for learning, a strong sense of self-esteem, personal integrity, and a respectful, caring attitude towards others. Likewise, sports education is also a distinctive feature at JIRS.
At JIRS, parents, students, faculty and staff work together as a community to solve problems within a framework of fairness and shared values. With 25 nationalities represented on campus, each of us has an exceptional opportunity to develop an understanding of, and appreciation for, the philosophies of people from many different cultures.
We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you and your child to JIRS in future. And, of course, we hope that you can visit us to learn at firsthand what sets us apart in the world of international education.

CBSE Curriculum
Cambridge Curriculum
Cambridge IGCSE Integrated Curriculum from Grade 8 - 10
The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is recognized by universities and institutes of higher education around the world. It is equivalent in standard to the British IGCSE and International IGCSE 'O' Level examinations. The curriculum consists of a three year course of study leading to an examination which is taken at the end of Grade 10.
The Cambridge IGCSE provides a foundation for higher level courses, including A and AS levels and AICE Diploma. There are five subject grounds in IGCSE with several subjects to choose from, in each group viz., Languages, Humanities and Social Sciences, Sciences, Mathematics, Creative, Technical & Vocational. In addition, the prestigious International Certificate of Education (ICE) is awarded to some IGCSE students who attempt and complete seven or more papers.
Cambridge International 'A’ level integrated Curriculum for Grade 11 & 12
‘A’ level examination is equivalent to grade 12 examination and is recognized by any board in India and hence the students can appear for any of the competitive examinations. ‘A' level is a tow year programme after grade 10 conducted by the University of Cambridge, UK.
The following subjects are offered to prepare the students for ‘A’ level examination. A number of 5 subjects must be selected.
JIRS is a co-educational, residential school with an enrollment of more
than 750 students. We offer education to students from Grade IV to Grade
XII in CBSE and IGCSE levels. All classes have 25 students per class & the
staff - student ratio is 1:8. We extend two rigorous curriculum options -
CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) and CIE (Cambridge
International Examination).
The Exploratory Years (Grade 4 - 7)
We believe that young children are powerful learners who bring their own ideas and interpretations of their experiences to their learning. With their natural curiosity and developing communication skills, they are eager to inquire about the world around them.
At JIRS children join a community of learners in which each will have a place to belong and a way to contribute in his or her own individual way. Each child has a unique pattern of growth and development. Our educators are responsive to individual differences in ability and interest. A range of levels of development, learning style and intelligence among children are expected and accepted and are used to design experiences for learning.
The Expanding Horizon Years (Grade 8 - 12)
The JIRS "Expanding Horizons Years" programme addresses each student's varied levels of emotional, physical, and intellectual development. Subjects are integrated to create authentic experiences for students while providing rigorous training for future success. Our curriculum enables students to establish links between the topics, themselves, and the "real world".
As students at this stage often become deeply engaged with special interests and pursuits, they will have new opportunities to share their growing skills and understanding. Students in the "Expanding Horizons Years" are able to discuss their growing understanding of themselves as a learner in an ongoing and reflective manner. Included in this developing understanding is the facility to experience and grow in leadership. A strong emphasis is placed on developing an understanding of strengths, areas of growth, and building confidence. This is a time of self-exploration, self discovery, and understanding of who I am and who I can be.

International StudentsEvery year, JIRS welcomes many international
students. Students come from over 25 countries
to study with us, creating a cosmopolitan and
lively environment.
Celebrating
10 Years
Incorporation of the International curriculum
IGCSE in partnership with Cambridge University
went on to see 3 of its student's top India in its very
first year 2004 - 05 !!!
We aim to make the boarding experience
safe, secure, purposeful and fun. The student
houses create the right resources for both
study and leisure. The time spent by a student
at JIRS is not just the gathering of memories
for a lifetime, but also a genuine cycle of
growth physically, mentally and spiritually.
Phone facilities and internet connectivity are provided to enable effective communication possibilities for our students. These state – of – art facilities are installed to keep up the line of communication live, stable and constant between our students and their parents.
A neat and tidy school attire facilitates learning, besides inculcating a habit of being well dressed and presentable.
Aarti, bhajan, yoga, meditation and an overall influence of Indian spirituality provide the much needed food for the soul. Human values, strength of character and virtuous conduct are assimilated by
students, just as a sapling would soak up warm sunlight.
Once a week students visit Munchies - JIRS Cafe to enjoy various delicacies along with music and TV programmes for an hour. Varieties of fresh juices, softdrinks and snacks are available.
The students unwind with movie shows during weekends that are carefully selected by the film committee.
We celebrate various festivals of our culture. Every care is taken to provide joyous and festive moods to various celebrations like Raksha Bandhan, Independence Day, Ganesh Chaturthi, Onam,
Krishna Janmashtami, Ramzan, Teacher's Day, Children's Day, Christmas, New Year and Pongal. The climaxes are Universal brotherhood and Unity in Diversity. Religion is not differential; it is a Unifying cord, a reason for celebration.
Dorm Nights are celebrated in the amphi-theatre of the boys and girls dorms. Students exhibit their talent in mono-acting, singing, dancing, acting etc. The dorm nights are organised by the students themselves under the guidance of matrons / wardens. Thus they learn to take up responsibility of organising events in a disciplined and orderly manner.

JIRS offers many exciting activities to encourage & develop a spirit of adventure. The activities are carefully devised to discover the powers of determination & sensitise young minds to appreciate the beauty & power of nature. No chalk and talk, participants walk. Walk the wild side, camp, sail, and climb to hone their life skills. The wilderness provides great opportunities to learn basic skills like communication, leadership, crisis management & team building in a conducive & challenging environment. 'Nature is the Best Teacher' - on a Nature trail, one can observe many forms of life flora & fauna and learn a lot more by sheer observation. the year 2000 - 01 which witnessed a green
revolution, as one lakh saplings were rooted in the

Reinforcement Classes
We at JIRS believe every child possesses special intelligence, which he/she exhibits in either academics or sports or co curricular activities. Every child in the school is given additional help in academics under the supervision of a teacher.
