Centerpoint Brewing finds their place in the heart of IndianapolisAfter almost a year of renovations, Centerpoint Brewing has finally opened its doors to the public.

Centerpoint Brewing has found a home as part of the revitalization effort of the Circle City Industrial Complex (CCIC) and surrounding neighborhoods, located near the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and 10th Street.

Centerpoint boasts a 30-barrel brewing system, large by local standards, with fermentation capacity to initially support an annual production of 3,000 barrels. If they meet there projections, this will rocket them instantly into one of the top 10 Indiana breweries in terms of production. But the founders are willing to think small.

Jonathan Robinson, one of the co-founders, said, “Right now, we are most excited to be a part of this remarkable redevelopment underway at CCIC. Centerpoint has felt most welcome by our neighbors in Cottage Home and Windsor Park, and look forward to serving our immediate community. We can’t wait to get to know everyone and have everyone get to know us.”

Jeff Ready, CEO of Scale Computing and another co-founder, added, “We are hoping that the brewery itself will become a place where the neighborhood can get together to enjoy a beer, and that we’ll be a key part of a project that revitalizes the area.”

The brewery is the founders’ baby. Robinson, Ready, along with co-founder Peter Argiris, have made it exactly how they wanted it. The 17,500 sq. ft. production space gives the brewery room to grow and meet the demands of its customers without feeling the pinch. It also allowed Centerpoint to take the unique step of installing a full water quality control system. This system allows the brewery to precisely manage the exact contents of their brews to make sure they are getting everything just right.

Ready said, “The name Centerpoint Brewing and our plumb bob logo come from the engineering background of all the founders, who are all Rose-Hulman graduates. It also alludes to our desire to find that perfect balance between the raw ingredients and to control the process variables for any style of beer that we make.”

Part of their approach is to design beers that are approachable to everyone, both beer geeks and non-beer geeks alike. One of their flagship beers, the Centerpoint Gold 52, is a golden ale that won the gold medal at the Indiana Brewers Cup in 2014. It is a clean, refreshing “beer-flavored beer” as the founders call it.

“We want someone who ‘only’ drinks Miller or Budweiser to give the Centerpoint Gold 52 a try and enjoy it just as well as the beer-geek who ‘never’ drinks those American macros,” said Ready.

The Grand Opening will be held from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. this Saturday, May 7 th. For more details head to their web page at www.centerpointbrewing.com.
