    1 Purpose This test aims to evaluate mechanical, electrical and environmental performances of J1939 series connectors C10-754548-316 & C10-754548-516.

    2 Conclusion All the tests are passed. Mechanical, electrical and environmental performances of C10-754548-316 & C10-754548-516 can meet the requirement. Detail information refers to chapter 6-test results.

    5 Test Details

    5.1 Test Environment

    All the tests were executed in the follow environment conditions:

    Temperature: 25±10°C.

    Relative humidity: 20%~80% RH.

    Air pressure: 650~800 millimeter of mercury (86~106Kpa).

    5.2 Sample Preparation

    All the test samples will be divided as shown in the table below:

    5.3 Test Description

    5.3.1 Visual Inspection

    This test is performed referring to EIA-364-18B.

    Do the visual inspection in room temperature.

    There shall be no visual deformation, crack, etc.

    5.3.2 Contact Resistance

    This test is performed referring to EIA-364-23C.

    Reset the contact resistance meter to zero before test, as shown below:

    Connect the samples into the circuit, as shown below:

    Start test, tester will record the data automatically (A wire resistance: 0.85mΩ).

    The sample shall meet requirements of contact resistance as below:

    5.3.3 Insulation Resistance

    This test is performed referring to EIA-364-21C.

    Mating the samples and fix in the circuit, as below:

    Setting up test parameters as below profile:

    ○ Test voltage: 500VDC ○ Min limit insulation resistance: 1000MΩ

    The equipment will record data automatically when starting the test.

    5.3.4 Dielectric Withstanding Voltage

    This test is performed referring to EIA-364-20B.

    Mating the samples and fix in the circuit, as below:

    Setting up test parameters as below profile:

    ○ Test voltage: 1500VAC ○ Max limit leak current: 2mA

    Start test, equipment will record the data automatically.

    5.3.5 Temperature Life

    This test is performed referring to EIA-364-17C.

    Put the specimens into the test chamber. As shown below:

    Setting up test parameters as below profile :

    ○ Temperature: 125˚C ○ Duration: 250 hours

    5.3.6 Thermal shock

    This test is performed referring to EIA-364-32G.

    Put the samples into the test chamber .As shown below:

    ○ Test cycles: 100 cycles. ○ Temperature: -40°C ~+125°C ○ Time: 1 hour per cycle

    5.3.7 Mating/Un-mating Force

    This test is performed referring to EIA-364-13D.

    5.3.8 Locking/Release Torque

    This test is performed referring to MIL-STD-1344A, method 2013.1.

    Fix the plug in the jig, then fasten receptacle on the vice as shown in the figure below:

    Rotate the jig with the torque wrench until the connector locking/release.

    5.3.9 Durability

    This test is performed referring to EIA-364-09C.

    Execute the mating and un-mating action by manual for 100 cycles and speed rate shall be less than 10 cycles per minute.

    Connectors shall show no mechanical or electrical defects detrimental after test.

    5.3.10 Temperature/Humidity

    This test is performed referring to EIA-364-31D.

    Put the samples into the test chamber. As shown below:

    Setting up test parameters as below profile:

    ○ Test cycles: 10 cycles ○ Temperature: -40°C ~+125°C ○ Time: 24 hours per cycle

    5.3.11 Terminal Retention in Connectors

    This test is performed referring to EIA-364-29C.

    Fix the sample on the clamp. As shown below:

    Setting up test parameters as below profile:

    ○ Test speed: 25mm/min

    Start test, tester will record the data automatically. Record the peak value when the sample was damage, it shall be greater than 120.15N (27lbs).

    5.3.12 IP67

    This test is performed referring to IEC60529.

    Mating the plug and receptacle of J1939 post well, sealing the cable end.

    Put the samples into the test bucket, which has 1 meter of water, for 30 minutes. As shown below:

    After the test, clean the water outside of the samples.

    Then do visual inspection. There should be no water inside the connectors.

    5.3.13 Connector Retention

    This test is performed referring to EIA-364-35C.

    Fix the sample on the clamp, make sure the sample is mounted in the center of the clamp, as below:
