CITY OF YORKTON WORKSHOP JOB OPPORTUNITY CITY OF YORKTON APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED FOR THE POSITION OF AUXILIARY FIRE FIGHTER The City of Yorkton Fire Protective Services Department is looking for highly motivated individ- uals, residing in city limits or within close proximity, to become part of our Auxiliary Fire Fighting force. Operating as a composite department, Auxiliary Fire Fighters provide support services to the Full Time Force. If you are interested in a new challenge and in expanding your life skills, these positions provide for a stimulating team building opportunity. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: Under direct supervision, Auxiliary Fire Fighters assist in response, mitigation, and return to ser- vice of Fire Department apparatus and the facility. Personal and public safety is of paramount importance therefore successful candidates will be required to participate in regular and ongoing training and will be placed on an on-call rotation. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must be 18 years of age, in good physical and mental health and must successfully complete a physical fitness test. RCMP security clearance and a valid Saskatchewan driver’s license and abstract are also required. Preference will be given to those possessing current C.P.R., First Aid, and N.F.P.A. or related training/certification. HOURS OF WORK: These are paid on-call positions with weekly training provided at the Fire Hall. Private Well Construction and Discharge of Water from Wells

The City of Yorkton would like to inform and remind its residents that bylaws are in place that prohibits the construction of private wells within the City of Yorkton. In addition, the discharge of any well water into any sewer within or entering the City without a permit is also prohibited.A well can be defined as any underground structure that is dug or drilled into the ground in order to obtain, store or divert water. These structures could present potential issues for drainage to adjacent neighboring properties. They can also be a safety hazard if not proper-ly capped and locked, as well as being a source of contamination of ground water sources. Bylaw 18/2006, Section 3.27 – Private Wells3.27 No person shall use any alternate source of water supply other than the City water

system without first obtaining the written consent of the City. Private Wells within the City are not permitted.

Proposed Bylaw No. 10/2011The Council of the City of Yorkton, pursuant to Section 207 of The Planning and Development Act, 2007, hereby gives notice of its intention to pass Bylaw No. 10/2011, which is an amend-ment to City of Yorkton Zoning Bylaw No. 14/2003 to allow for a Dwelling Manufacturing Facility (Off-Site) as a Discretionary Use in the C-1 City Centre Commercial, C-2 Arterial Commercial and C-3 Highway Commercial zoning districts.The purpose of the proposed bylaw is to provide Council with the ability to approve manufac-turing facilities which are used for the production or assembly of modular dwellings, ready-to-move (RTM) dwellings, and/or manufactured homes, in commercial zoning districts. Public NoticePublic Notice is hereby given that the Council of the City of Yorkton intends to consider passage of Bylaw No. 1/2011, known as the Property Standards Bylaw at the September 26th, 2011 Regular Council Meeting. The Property Standards Bylaw provides for the regulation of property standards within the City of Yorkton. This bylaw has undergone an extensive review. A Public Hearing will be provided at the September 26th Council meeting to allow the public to express their opinion or concern with any of the changes being proposed. We encourage you to visit our website at www.yorkton.ca to obtain a copy of proposed Bylaw No. 1/2011 along with the Summary Sheet which provides an overview of the proposed changes.Any person may make an oral or written representation to City Council at its meeting to be held on Monday September 26, 2011 in City Hall Council Chambers, Yorkton, Saskatchewan at 5:00 p.m. Any written submissions must be received by 12:00 noon Thursday, September 22, 2011 to Bonnie Schenher, City Clerk.
