The first night of ‘Dick Whittington’ leads to theatricaltension in this comedy drama written by JonathanHarvey. The pantomime has been in rehearsals forweeks and tonight a dress rehearsal has been calledbefore the curtain goes up. Tensions are beginning toshow. Producer Di (Samantha Spiro) has loftyambitions for the performance, which means thatdirector Francis (Mark Benton) must try valiantly to pullthe show to order despite her constant interfering.Adding to Francis's troubles is a backstage romancebetween panto newcomer Lewis (John Bishop) andlocal celebrity Tamsin (Sheridan Smith), who is playingprincipal boy Dick. Lewis is not only fond of Tamsin but also fully aware that his own career pathmay take an upward turn if their relationship continues. Unfortunately, a potential fly in the ointmentappears in the form of his ex-wife, who unexpectedly delivers his son to the stage door. Lewisrealises that he must take his fatherly duties seriously. Other members of the cast include fadedtheatrical actor Johnny Darby (Michael Cochrane), nervous Chantelle (Ami Metcalf), and ChesneyHawkes (playing himself), an accident-prone good guy trying hard to show that he has more to hismusical repertoire than ‘The One and Only’. The dress rehearsal proves to be disastrous, but this isnothing compared to the bombshell delivered during the performance when Tamsin decides to leaveat the interval. Maybe a curmudgeonly dwarf playing Tickles the cat could come to the rescue?

The drama series following the adventures of vet DannyTrevanion (Stephen Tompkinson), who emigrated to agame reserve in South Africa, comes to an emotionalconclusion this Christmas with this one-off finale. New Yearat Leopard’s Den sees Du Plessis (Deon Stewardson)making a last-ditch effort to heal the rifts in the family. Alice(Dawn Steele) has returned, but the stress of combiningwork with caring for baby Bobby causes tension betweenher and Danny, which is exacerbated by their flirtatious newneighbour. Liv (Olivia Scott-Taylor) is furious that Fatani(Thapelo Mokoena) has not told his mother about theirrelationship, while Rosie’s fiancé Dylan has made himself unpopular with everyone. A further blowfalls when the three-legged cheetah, Cassidy, and his new mate are stolen by poachers. With thewedding only a few days away, tempers are already running high even before a trip to the doctorbrings devastating news for Du Plessis. His heart is weak, and without immediate bed rest theprognosis is very bad. Du Plessis lies to Caroline, telling her that he is fine, but when tensions in thefamily reach boiling point he realises that he cannot sit in a rocking chair for the rest of his life. Hemust use his remaining time to fix his ailing family. He persuades pilot Dylan to fly them all toZimbabwe to rescue the cheetahs in the hope that the trip will bring them back together. Whetherthis final wild adventure will heal the family’s wounds remains to be seen, but things are not lookinggood when the poachers’ identity is revealed. Later in the week, a new documentary offers fans onelast dose of Wild at Heart as it goes behind the scenes to introduce the animals and their handlers.

Paul meets NuNu, a StBernard who only responds toChinese, and a terrier calledCracker who has a dodgy hip.Paul gets to work, rustling up aspecial seasonal lunch andassembling a chorus of dogsand cats chorus around theChristmas tree to get theseason of goodwill off on ahighnote. As the spirit kicks in,the home gets a present of itsown in the form of a litter oflovely lurcher pups. Will Paulfind one stuffed in his stocking?

Vernon Kay returns to present a brand new festiveepisode of the popular game show in which twoteams battle it out to win up to £30,000 for theirchosen charity. A soap star team from Emmerdale(pictured), headed up by their captain Lucy Pargeter,who plays Chas Dingle, and featuring fellow starsNatalie Anderson, Mark Charnock, Fiona Wade andGemma Oaten, compete against an all-star teamfrom ITV1's lively breakfast show Daybreak, led bycaptain Aled Jones and featuring fellow presenters DrHilary Jones, Ranvir Singh, Gethin Jones and RichardArnold. Both teams hope to win big money by answering a series of seemingly easy questions,based on a survey of 100 members of the British public. Anyone familiar with the format willunderstand that this is never as easy as it sounds, and know how rare it is for a team to come upwith a full list of answers. The opposing team will be ready to pounce with a make-or-break answerof their own, hoping to steal the cash prize for that round. Vernon is never shy when presented withbizarre, ridiculous or hilarious suggestions, and will be sure to dig up some embarrassinginformation on at least one of the contestants before the game is over. The winning team has theopportunity to play for the full £30,000 in the final Big Money round, but with limited time and sometricky questions, will they be able to second-guess the British public and secure the full amount?

All dogs great and small will be popping their collars to warmthe hearts of the nation in this family Christmas special, hostedby Christine Bleakley. The show sees the country's mosttalented dancing dogs perform some fantastic and uniqueroutines in front of a judging panel of three dog-lovingcelebrities. Pet owner and judging panel veteran SharonOsbourne turns the discriminating taste she honed on the XFactor to a whole new breed of talent, while comedian BillBailey adds some laughs. The panel is completed by AshleighButler, who also takes to the floor with Pudsey to demonstratethe skills that served them so well on Britain’s Got Talent.The judges will pick their top three acts from among theperforming pooches, but it will ultimately be the studio audiencewho decides which dog gets his paws on the trophy. Viewersare invited to get into the Christmas spirit with cuddly canineswhose impressive skills go way beyond hand-shaking andslipper-fetching as Britain's dogs prove what man's best friendis really capable of.

The popular murder mystery drama series returns forthe first of three new episodes. DCI Barnaby (NeilDudgeon) investigates after journalist Eve Lomax ismurdered as she watches a cult 60s horror filmstarring local actress Stella Harris (Sinead Cusack).Police doctor Kate Wilding (Tamzin Malleson)discovers that Eve had two puncture wounds in herneck, as if she had been killed by a vampire, just as inthe film. The very same film opens the inauguralMidsomer Langley film festival, where Stella is theguest of honour. But her evening is eclipsed by thedramatic arrival of her sister Diana Davenport (HarrietWalter), a Hollywood superstar. The sisters have been feuding for years, ever since Diana made thebig time. Stella’s daughter Emma (Anna Wilson-Jones) is unimpressed by Diana’s arrival, unlike herown star-struck daughter Rosie (Alice Sykes). Meanwhile, Diana begs Stella to end their 40-year rift.As Diana and her producer husband Cy Davenport (Henry Goodman) prepare to host a party, theirestranged son Scott (Joseph Beattie) fights with his father about leaving home. Barnaby discoversthat Cy had taken out an injunction to prevent publication of a book Eve was writing about thesisters. More murders follow, replicating scenes from Stella’s films, including one in which the victimwas swathed in bandages like a mummy. Barnaby fears that the killer’s work is not yet done, butcan he figure out the clues in time to prevent further deaths?
