This year’s program offers a-greater-than-ever focus on hands-on learning opportunities through issue forums, roundtables, and workshops.

• Listen to transportation experts share insights on key topics including roundabouts, bicycle facilities, signals, mobility and operations, safety, trip generation, context sensitive design and implementation.

• Come away with critical tools and resources you need to help you with your job.

• Gain deeper understanding of industry trends and what they mean.

• Engage with colleagues in finding innovative solutions to existing and future challenges.

The program includes specially designed sessions geared to students and young professionals, advanced sessions for long-time transportation professionals, and sessions focusing on the next generation of technology.Technical tours provide attendees with the chance to “get out and experience” Seattle’s transportation system on foot, on a bike, by monorail, by bus, and by the unique Washington State run ferry system. Janie M. Hollingsworth, Vice President of Engineering, CTC Inc. This training will provide a comprehensive overview of the principles of preempting traffic signals to provide a generally operationally effective and safe implementation when inter connections is required. This training is intended as an in-depth introduction to the technical requirements as well as background on safety issues and best practices.Freeway and Interchange Safety Evaluation Workshop, Sunday, August 10, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.($350, participants receive 7 PDH)Facilitators:John R. It includes a presentation and interactive participant exercises using the ISATe program. The visuals aids used in the workshop consist primarily of PowerPoint slides. The workshop also includes eleven self-paced exercises for the participants to work on in an independent manner. These exercises are intended to give the participants an opportunity to learn how to use ISATe. For this reason, the exercises are somewhat idealized relative to real-world freeway conditions. The workshop is divided into lessons covering the following six topic areas: overview of safety evaluation; overview of software tool; freeway segments; interchange ramps; crossroad ramp terminals; and applications.[Required] Each participant must bring a laptop with Excel to participate in the workshop. It is preferred for participants to have a working knowledge of the HSM.
