Great start to 2016 School Year I must congratulate all the students across the school for a fantastic start to the 2016 school year.
The behaviour, working attitudes and team work have been commendable and I am looking forward to seeing
the academic results which will be analysed over the next few weeks after a variety of assessments across the
school in literacy and numeracy. Congratulations also to staff for their fantastic efforts in ensuring a
successful start to Term 1 and also to parents for their positive approach to ensuring students are at school be-
fore 8.45am when our first learning time block commences.
Meet the Teacher Meet the teacher will be conducted on Tuesday 23rd of February. These meetings are an important oppor-
tunity for you to share relevant
information regarding your child with his/her new teacher. Classroom procedures and processes for 2016 will also be discussed. Please fill out
the form your child should have brought home this week and return it by Monday February 15th of February so that we can try to
accommodate your preference of time.
School Values At the start of every school year we revisit our school values so that all students are familiar with these values and the important part they play
in our dealings with each other. Our school values apply to all members of our school community.
COOPERATION LEARNING SAFE AND FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENT
RESPECT RESPONSIBILITY
Insurance I have been asked by the Department of Education and Training to remind all parents and guardians that the Department does not provide per-
sonal accident insurance or ambulance cover for students. Parents and guardians of students, who do not have student accident insurance/
ambulance cover, are responsible for paying the cost of medical treatment for injured students, including the cost of ambulance attendance/
transport and any other transport costs.
School Council Our school council Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held on Tuesday 8th of March at 7pm. All members of our Lalor Primary School
community are welcome to attend the AGM. The AGM will be followed by our first school council meeting of our 2016 committee. Cur-
rently we have 2 parent vacancies on school council so if you would like to apply please see Debra at the office for a nomination form and
more information on the selection process. Parents on school councils provide important viewpoints and have valuable skills that can help
shape the direction of the school. Those parents who become active on a school council find their involvement satisfying in itself and may also
find that their children feel a greater sense of belonging.

Opening Of The New Play Equipment
There was much excitement in the yard at recess today as the school
captains and vice captains officially opened the new playground. Ms Ryan announced the playground
was now available for safe play and the students were very eager to try it out. We invite parents to come
along and view our new playground with its colourful and innovative design. Congratulations and thanks
to Mrs Parrish and Mr Barakat who did all of the research and choosing of the new equipment.
Fifth Virus
We have had a case of Fifth Virus reported at the school. This virus is especially common in children
between the ages of 5 and 15, usually produces a distinctive red rash on the face that makes a child
appear to have a "slapped cheek." The rash then spreads to the trunk, arms, and legs.
Fifth disease is actually just a viral illness that most students recover from quickly and without com-
plications but for women during pregnancy, the virus may cause problems for the baby. A person
with this virus is most contagious before the rash appears. For more information please see websites
such as - http://kidshealth.org/parent/infections/skin/fifth.html#
