Dear Lawson Parents and Carers, School playground project Recently, we received overwhelming feedback in support of improving the play spaces at our school. Our community have spoken and we have listened. Seed funding has been allocated from the school budget to help your ideas begin to take shape. This is very exciting for all of us but, most importantly, our students. On behalf of everyone here at school I would like to extend thanks to community members for taking the time to provide feedback and to meet and discuss next steps forward. We spent some time discussing some of the key questions that were the result of our recent playground committee meeting and now we are considering our options. This in mind, Mr Ric McConaghy (an award-winning playground designer and a local) has been asked to address our aspirations, questions, timings and funding, He would like to meet with us for 10-15 minutes on Thursday the 19 th of March at 7pm. His website is: https://www.rmpl.com.au/ We'd love to have you there! Parent – Teacher Interviews This term, teachers across the school are providing an opportunity to talk with parents about how their child has settled into learning this year. The aim of the interview is to identify any strengths, needs/goals and any concerns. We are using an online booking system and a note will come home about the process for booking an interview. If you find you need or would like more time to speak with your child’s teacher, please make an alternative appointment. This is an extremely valuable opportunity to work in partnership to support your child’s learning so we hope you can all make it to an interview. PSSA Swimming Carnival Last week, a group of very enthusiastic and dedicated students participated in the NSW PSA swimming carnival. Our students showed superb comradery, supporting each other, and great resilience, working through the hardship that competitive swimming can bring. Thank you to everyone involved – students, parents and staff – for the huge effort in making this event a success. Matthew Jacobson Principal Issue 3 – Week 6 – Term 1 Wednesday 4 March 2020

Reminder regarding “Anaphylaxis Action Plans”

Anaphylaxis Plans need to be updated annually by your Child’s Doctor. Please ensure your child’s updated Epi-pens and action plans are provided to the office as a matter of urgency.

For students with Asthma, please ensure we have an updated action plan and Ventolin that is in date, as some inhalers may expire during the year.

Parents and Visitors A friendly reminder that our morning bell is at 8.55am (prompt). We politely ask all parents and visitors to have completed their goodbyes prior to this time and vacate the premises as all gates will be closed at 9.00am for the safety of all students. Students that are late need to attend the office to collect a late note before heading off to class. For Students that need to leave early, parents/carers are required to come to the office for an early leaver note and the office will arrange for the student to come and meet them at the office.

Permission Notes When returning permission notes for school activities it is a legal requirement to return a SEPARATE permission note for each child. If you pay online it is still necessary to return the permission note to the office. In addition, if returning multiple notes for more than one child/activity, there is no need to put each note into a separate envelope. We are able to process multiple payments for multiple activities/children in the one transaction. Please ensure your child/s full name and class are on the permission note.

Lost Property There seems to be a constant stream of lost property being sent to the office. Could you please ensure you have all items labelled with your child’s name and class.

We are the Aquanauts

What do Aquanauts do when they need a class

pet? They get Aqua Dragons of course.

Check out these little critters. They actually do

look like little dragons.

Aquanauts presented outstanding artworks at last week’s assembly. We wanted to portray how the bushfires impacted Australia and our emotional

response to the tragedies.

BEYBLADES

Over the past few weeks we have had many social and

safety issues in the playground regarding the use of

Beyblades. Therefore, we ask that students enjoy

their Beyblades at home and do not bring them to

school.

Thank you for your support!
